¹ In those days the multitude being very great, and not having what they may eat, Jesus having called near his disciples, said to them,

¹ Naqueles dias, sendo a multidão muito grande, e não tendo o que comer, Jesus chamou a si os seus discípulos, e disse-lhes:

² 'I have compassion upon the multitude, because now three days they do continue with me, and they have not what they may eat;

² Eu tenho compaixão da multidão, porque já estão comigo há três dias, e não têm o que comer;

³ and if I shall let them away fasting to their home, they will faint in the way, for certain of them are come from far.'

³ e, se os deixar ir em jejum, para suas casas, desfalecerão no caminho; porquanto vários deles vieram de longe.

⁴ And his disciples answered him, 'Whence shall any one be able these here to feed with bread in a wilderness?'

⁴ E os seus discípulos responderam-lhe: De onde poderá um homem satisfazer estes homens com pão aqui no deserto?

⁵ And he was questioning them, 'How many loaves have you?' and they said, 'Seven.'

⁵ E ele perguntou-lhes: Quantos pães tendes? E disseram-lhe: Sete.

⁶ And he commanded the multitude to sit down upon the ground, and having taken the seven loaves, having given thanks, he brake, and was giving to his disciples that they may set before them; and they did set before the multitude.

⁶ E ele ordenou ao povo que se assentasse no chão. E, tomando os sete pães, e tendo dado graças, partiu-os, e deu-os aos seus discípulos, para colocarem diante deles, e puseram-nos diante do povo.

⁷ And they had a few small fishes, and having blessed, he said to set them also before them;

⁷ E tendo alguns pequenos peixes, ele os abençoou, e também ordenou-lhes para que colocassem diante deles.

⁸ and they did eat and were filled, and they took up that which was over of broken pieces -- seven baskets;

⁸ Então eles comeram, e saciaram-se; e tomaram dos pedaços que sobraram, sete cestos.

⁹ and those eating were about four thousand. And he let them away,

⁹ E os que haviam comido eram cerca de quatro mil; e ele os despediu.

¹⁰ and immediately having entered into the boat with his disciples, he came to the parts of Dalmanutha,

¹⁰ E ele entrando imediatamente no barco com os seus discípulos, foi para as regiões de Dalmanuta.

¹¹ and the Pharisees came forth, and began to dispute with him, seeking from him a sign from the heaven, tempting him;

¹² and having sighed deeply in his spirit, he said, 'Why does this generation seek after a sign? Verily I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.'

¹² E, suspirando profundamente em seu espírito, disse: Por que procura esta geração um sinal? Na verdade eu vos digo que a esta geração não se dará nenhum sinal.

¹³ And having left them, having entered again into the boat, he went away to the other side;

¹³ E, deixando-os, tornou a entrar no barco, e foi para o outro lado.

¹⁴ and they forgot to take loaves, and except one loaf they had nothing with them in the boat,

¹⁴ Ora, os discípulos tinham se esquecido de levar pães, e no barco não tinham consigo senão um pão.

¹⁵ and he was charging them, saying, 'Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod,'

¹⁵ E ele ordenou-lhes, dizendo: Fiquem atentos, guardai-vos do fermento dos fariseus e do fermento de Herodes.

¹⁶ and they were reasoning with one another, saying -- 'Because we have no loaves.'

¹⁶ E eles arrazoavam entre si, dizendo: Isto é porque não temos pão.

¹⁷ And Jesus having known, said to them, 'Why do you reason, because you have no loaves? do you not yet perceive, nor understand, yet have you your heart hardened?

¹⁷ E Jesus, percebendo isso, disse-lhes: Por que argumentais, por não terdes pão? Ainda não percebeis, nem compreendeis? Tendes ainda o vosso coração endurecido?

¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? and having ears, do you not hear? and do you not remember?

¹⁸ Tendo olhos, não vedes? E tendo ouvidos, não ouvis? E não vos lembrais?

¹⁹ When the five loaves I did brake to the five thousand, how many hand-baskets full of broken pieces took you up?' they say to him, 'Twelve.'

¹⁹ Quando eu parti os cinco pães entre os cinco mil, quantos cestos cheios de pedaços tomastes? E eles disseram-lhe: Doze.

²⁰ 'And when the seven to the four thousand, how many hand-baskets full of broken pieces took you up?' and they said, 'Seven.'

²⁰ E, quando parti os sete entre os quatro mil, quantos cestos cheios de pedaços tomastes? E disseram-lhe: Sete.

²¹ And he said to them, 'How do you not understand?'

²¹ E ele lhes disse: Como é que vocês não compreendem ainda?

²² And he comes to Bethsaida, and they bring to him one blind, and call upon him that he may touch him,

²² E ele chegou a Betsaida; e trouxeram-lhe um homem cego, e pediram-lhe para tocá-lo.

²³ and having taken the hand of the blind man, he led him forth without the village, and having spit on his eyes, having put his hands on him, he was questioning him if he does behold anything:

²³ E ele tomou o homem cego pela mão, e o levou para fora da aldeia; e ele cuspindo nos seus olhos, e impondo suas mãos sobre ele, perguntou-lhe se ele enxergava alguma coisa.

²⁴ and he, having looked up, said, 'I behold men, as I see trees, walking.'

²⁴ E ele, olhando para cima, disse: Eu vejo homens como árvores, andando.

²⁵ Afterwards again he put his hands on his eyes, and made him look up, and he was restored, and discerned all things clearly,

²⁵ Depois disto, ele colocou novamente suas mãos sobre os seus olhos, e o fez olhar para cima; e ele foi restaurado, e viu a cada homem claramente.

²⁶ and he sent him away to his house, saying, 'Neither to the village may you go, nor tellit to any in the village.'

²⁶ E ele o mandou embora para sua casa, dizendo: Nem entres na aldeia, nem o digas a ninguém da aldeia.

²⁷ And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi, and in the way he was questioning his disciples, saying to them, 'Who do men say me to be?'

²⁷ E saiu Jesus, e os seus discípulos, para as aldeias de Cesareia de Filipe; no caminho ele perguntou aos seus discípulos, dizendo: Quem dizem os homens que eu sou?

²⁸ And they answered, 'John the Baptist, and others Elijah, but others one of the prophets.'

²⁸ E eles responderam: João, o Batista; mas alguns dizem: Elias; e outros: Um dos profetas.

²⁹ And he said to them, 'And you -- who do you say me to be?' and Peter answering said to him, 'You are the Christ.'

²⁹ E ele lhes disse: Mas vós, quem dizeis que eu sou? E, respondendo Pedro, lhe disse: Tu és o Cristo.

³⁰ And he strictly charged them that they may tell no one about it,

³⁰ E ele ordenou-lhes que não contassem a nenhum homem sobre ele.

³¹ and began to teach them, that it is necessary for the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise again;

³¹ E ele começou a ensinar-lhes que o Filho do homem deveria sofrer muitas coisas, e ser rejeitado pelos anciãos, e pelos principais sacerdotes e escribas, que fosse morto, e após três dias ressuscitar.

³² and openly he was speaking the word. And Peter having taken him aside, began to rebuke him,

³² E ele falava estas palavras publicamente. E Pedro, tomando-o, começou a repreendê-lo.

³³ and he, having turned, and having looked on his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, 'Get behind me, Adversary, because you do not mind the things of God, but the things of men.'

³³ Mas ele, virando-se, e olhando para os seus discípulos, repreendeu a Pedro, dizendo: Para trás de mim, Satanás; porque tu não tens gosto das coisas que são de Deus, mas das coisas que são dos homens.

³⁴ And having called near the multitude, with his disciples, he said to them, 'Whoever does will to come after me -- let him disown himself, and take up his cross, and follow me;

³⁴ E chamando a si a multidão, com os seus discípulos, disse-lhes: Se alguém quiser vir após mim, negue-se a si mesmo, tome a sua cruz, e siga-me.

³⁵ for whoever may will to save his life shall lose it; and whoever may lose his life for my sake and for the good news' sake, he shall save it;

³⁵ Porque aquele que quiser salvar a sua vida, perdê-la-á; mas quem perder a sua vida por minha causa e do evangelho, salvá-la-á.

³⁶ for what shall it profit a man, if he may gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?

³⁶ Porquanto, que lucro tem o homem em ganhar o mundo inteiro, se perder a sua própria alma?

³⁷ Or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life?

³⁷ Ou que dará o homem em troca de sua alma?

³⁸ for whoever may be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also shall be ashamed of him, when he may come in the glory of his Father, with the holy messengers.'

³⁸ Porquanto, qualquer que, entre esta geração adúltera e pecadora, se envergonhar de mim e das minhas palavras, também dele se envergonhará o Filho do homem, quando vier na glória de seu Pai, com os santos anjos.
