1 In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free -- stand you, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;
1 Para a liberdade foi que Cristo nos libertou. Permanecei, pois, firmes e não vos submetais, de novo, a jugo de escravidão.
2 lo, I Paul do say to you, that if you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing;
2 Eu, Paulo, vos digo que, se vos deixardes circuncidar, Cristo de nada vos aproveitará.
3 and I testify again to every man circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law;
3 De novo, testifico a todo homem que se deixa circuncidar que está obrigado a guardar toda a lei.
4 you were freed from the Christ, you who in law are declared righteous; from the grace you fell away;
4 De Cristo vos desligastes, vós que procurais justificar-vos na lei; da graça decaístes.
5 for we by the Spirit, by faith, a hope of righteousness do wait for,
5 Porque nós, pelo Espírito, aguardamos a esperança da justiça que provém da fé.
6 for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision, but faith through love working.
6 Porque, em Cristo Jesus, nem a circuncisão, nem a incircuncisão têm valor algum, mas a fé que atua pelo amor.
7 You were running well; who did hinder you -- not to obey the truth?
7 Vós corríeis bem; quem vos impediu de continuardes a obedecer à verdade?
8 the obedience is not of him who is calling you!
8 Esta persuasão não vem daquele que vos chama.
9 a little leaven the whole lump does leaven;
9 Um pouco de fermento leveda toda a massa.
10 I have confidence in regard to you in the Lord, that you will be none otherwise minded; and he who is troubling you shall bear the judgment, whoever he may be.
10 Confio de vós, no Senhor, que não alimentareis nenhum outro sentimento; mas aquele que vos perturba, seja ele quem for, sofrerá a condenação.
11 And I, brethren, if uncircumcision I yet preach, why yet am I persecuted? then has the stumbling-block of the cross been done away;
11 Eu, porém, irmãos, se ainda prego a circuncisão, por que continuo sendo perseguido? Logo, está desfeito o escândalo da cruz.
12 O that even they would cut themselves off who are unsettling you!
12 Tomara até se mutilassem os que vos incitam à rebeldia.
13 For you -- to freedom you were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve you one another,
13 Porque vós, irmãos, fostes chamados à liberdade; porém não useis da liberdade para dar ocasião à carne; sede, antes, servos uns dos outros, pelo amor.
14 for all the law in one word is fulfilled -- in this: 'You shalt love thy neighbor as thyself;'
14 Porque toda a lei se cumpre em um só preceito, a saber: Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo.
15 and if one another you do bite and devour, see -- that you may not by one another be consumed.
15 Se vós, porém, vos mordeis e devorais uns aos outros, vede que não sejais mutuamente destruídos.
16 And I say: In the Spirit walk you, and the desire of the flesh you may not complete;
16 Digo, porém: andai no Espírito e jamais satisfareis à concupiscência da carne.
17 for the flesh does desire contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit contrary to the flesh, and these are opposed one to another, that the things that you may will -- these you may not do;
17 Porque a carne milita contra o Espírito, e o Espírito, contra a carne, porque são opostos entre si; para que não façais o que, porventura, seja do vosso querer.
18 and if by the Spirit you are led, you are not under law.
18 Mas, se sois guiados pelo Espírito, não estais sob a lei.
19 And manifest also are the works of the flesh, which are: Adultery, whoredom, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
19 Ora, as obras da carne são conhecidas e são: prostituição, impureza, lascívia,
20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects,
20 idolatria, feitiçarias, inimizades, porfias, ciúmes, iras, discórdias, dissensões, facções,
21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revellings, and such like, of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that those doing such things the reign of God shall not inherit.
21 invejas, bebedices, glutonarias e coisas semelhantes a estas, a respeito das quais eu vos declaro, como já, outrora, vos preveni, que não herdarão o reino de Deus os que tais coisas praticam.
22 And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
22 Mas o fruto do Espírito é: amor, alegria, paz, longanimidade, benignidade, bondade, fidelidade,
23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law;
23 mansidão, domínio próprio. Contra estas coisas não há lei.
24 and those who are Christ's, the flesh did crucify with the affections, and the desires;
24 E os que são de Cristo Jesus crucificaram a carne, com as suas paixões e concupiscências.
25 if we may live in the Spirit, in the Spirit also we may walk;
25 Se vivemos no Espírito, andemos também no Espírito.
26 let us not become vain-glorious -- one another provoking, one another envying!
26 Não nos deixemos possuir de vanglória, provocando uns aos outros, tendo inveja uns dos outros.
