¹ How happy is he that is attentive to the poor, In the day of calamity, will Yahweh deliver him:

¹ Bem-aventurado o que acode ao necessitado; o

² Yahweh, will preserve him and keep him alive, And he shall be pronounced happy in the land, Do not then give him up at the desire of his enemies!

² O Senhor o protege, preserva-lhe a vida e o faz feliz na terra; não o entrega à discrição dos seus inimigos.

³ Yahweh, will sustain him upon the bed of sickness, All his couch, hast thou transformed in his disease.

³ O Senhor o assiste no leito da enfermidade; na doença, tu lhe afofas a cama.

⁴ I, saidO Yahweh, show me favour, heal thou my soul, for I have sinned against thee:

⁴ Disse eu: compadece-te de mim, Senhor ; sara a minha alma, porque pequei contra ti.

⁵ Mine enemies, speak ill of me, When will he die, and his name perish?

⁵ Os meus inimigos falam mal de mim: Quando morrerá e lhe perecerá o nome?

⁶ And, if he have come to see me, Falsehood, doth he speak, His own heart, gathereth iniquity to itself, he goeth forth, abroad he telleth it.

⁶ Se algum deles me vem visitar, diz coisas vãs, amontoando no coração malícias; em saindo, é disso que fala.

⁷ Togetheragainst me, do all who hate me whisper among themselves, Against me, devise they hurt for me.

⁷ De mim rosnam à uma todos os que me odeiam; engendram males contra mim, dizendo:

⁸ An infliction of the Abandoned One hath been fixed upon him, and, now that he hath lien down, he will not again rise.

⁸ Peste maligna deu nele, e: Caiu de cama, já não há de levantar-se.

⁹ Even the man whom I used to salute, in whom I put confidence, who used to eat my bread,hath magnified his heel against me!

⁹ Até o meu amigo íntimo, em quem eu confiava, que comia do meu pão, levantou contra mim o calcanhar.

¹⁰ But, thou, O Yahweh, show me favour and raise me up, That I may repay them.

¹⁰ Tu, porém, Senhor , compadece-te de mim e levanta-me, para que eu lhes pague segundo merecem.

¹¹ Hereby, do I know that thou delightest in me, In that mine enemy shall not raise a shout over me.

¹¹ Com isto conheço que tu te agradas de mim: em não triunfar contra mim o meu inimigo.

¹² But, as for me, In my blamelessness, hast thou held me fast, And hast caused me to stand before thee unto times age-abiding.

¹² Quanto a mim, tu me susténs na minha integridade e me pões à tua presença para sempre.

¹³ Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, From the age that is past, even unto the age yet to come: Amen and Amen!

¹³ Bendito seja o Senhor , Deus de Israel, da eternidade para a eternidade! Amém e amém!
