¹ How happy is he that is attentive to the poor, In the day of calamity, will Yahweh deliver him:

¹ Bem-aventurado é aquele que considera o pobre; o Senhor o livrará no dia do mal.

² Yahweh, will preserve him and keep him alive, And he shall be pronounced happy in the land, Do not then give him up at the desire of his enemies!

² O Senhor o guardará, e o conservará em vida; será abençoado na terra; tu, Senhor não o entregarás à vontade dos seus inimigos.

³ Yahweh, will sustain him upon the bed of sickness, All his couch, hast thou transformed in his disease.

³ O Senhor o sustentará no leito da enfermidade; tu lhe amaciarás a cama na sua doença.

⁴ I, saidO Yahweh, show me favour, heal thou my soul, for I have sinned against thee:

⁴ Disse eu da minha parte: Senhor, compadece-te de mim, sara a minha alma, pois pequei contra ti.

⁵ Mine enemies, speak ill of me, When will he die, and his name perish?

⁵ Os meus inimigos falam mal de mim, dizendo: Quando morrerá ele, e perecerá o seu nome?

⁶ And, if he have come to see me, Falsehood, doth he speak, His own heart, gathereth iniquity to itself, he goeth forth, abroad he telleth it.

⁶ E, se algum deles vem ver-me, diz falsidades; no seu coração amontoa a maldade; e quando ele sai, é disso que fala.

⁷ Togetheragainst me, do all who hate me whisper among themselves, Against me, devise they hurt for me.

⁷ Todos os que me odeiam cochicham entre si contra mim; contra mim maquinam o mal, dizendo:

⁸ An infliction of the Abandoned One hath been fixed upon him, and, now that he hath lien down, he will not again rise.

⁸ Alguma coisa ruim se lhe apega; e agora que está deitado, não se levantará mais.

⁹ Even the man whom I used to salute, in whom I put confidence, who used to eat my bread,hath magnified his heel against me!

⁹ Até o meu próprio amigo íntimo em quem eu tanto confiava, e que comia do meu pão, levantou contra mim o seu calcanhar.

¹⁰ But, thou, O Yahweh, show me favour and raise me up, That I may repay them.

¹⁰ Mas tu, Senhor, compadece-te de mim e levanta-me, para que eu lhes retribua.

¹¹ Hereby, do I know that thou delightest in me, In that mine enemy shall not raise a shout over me.

¹¹ Por isso conheço eu que te deleitas em mim, por não triunfar de mim o meu inimigo

¹² But, as for me, In my blamelessness, hast thou held me fast, And hast caused me to stand before thee unto times age-abiding.

¹² Quanto a mim, tu me sustentas na minha integridade, e me colocas diante da tua face para sempre.

¹³ Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, From the age that is past, even unto the age yet to come: Amen and Amen!

¹³ Bendito seja o Senhor Deus de Israel de eternidade a eternidade. Amém e amém.
