1 My son, to my wisdom, attend, and, to mine understanding, incline thou thine ear:
1 Meu filho, atenta para a minha sabedoria, e inclina o teu ouvido ao meu entendimento;
2 That thou mayest preserve discretion,and, as for knowledge, that thy lips may guard it.
2 para que possas considerar a discrição, e para que teus lábios possam guardar o conhecimento.
3 For, with sweet droppings, drip the lips of her that is a stranger, and, smoother than oil, is her mouth;
3 Porque os lábios de uma mulher estrangeira gotejam como favos de mel, e sua boca é mais suave do que o óleo;
4 But, the latter end of her, is bitter as wormwood, sharp, as a two-edged sword!
4 mas o seu fim é amargo como o absinto, agudo como a espada de dois gumes.
5 Her feet, are going down to death,on hades, will her steps take firm hold.
5 Seus pés descem para a morte, os seus passos conduzem-na ao inferno.
6 Lest, the path of life, she should ponder, her tracks have wandered she knoweth not .
6 Para que não ponderes a vereda da vida, seus caminhos são errantes, que tu não podes conhecê-los.
7 Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken unto me, and do not turn away from the sayings of my mouth.
7 Agora, portanto, ó filhos, ouçam-me, e não vos afasteis das palavras da minha boca.
8 Keep far from her thy way, and do not go near the opening of her house:
8 Remove o teu caminho para longe dela, e não chegues perto da porta da sua casa;
9 Lest thou give, to other men, thy vigour, and thy years, to him that is cruel:
9 para que não dês a outros a tua honra, e os teus anos aos cruéis;
10 Lest strange men, be well fed, by thy strength, and, thy toils, be in the house of the alien.
10 para que estranhos não se encham da tua riqueza, e o teu trabalho esteja na casa de um estrangeiro,
11 So shalt thou grieve in thy latter end, in the failing of thy flesh and of thy healthy condition;
11 e que tu não lamentes no fim, quando se consumirem a tua carne e o teu corpo,
12 And thou shalt sayHow I hated correction! and, reproof, my heart disdained;
12 e digas: Como odiei a instrução, e o meu coração desprezou a repreensão;
13 Neither hearkened I to the voice of my teachers, nor, to my instructors, inclined I mine ear:
13 e não obedeci à voz de meus ensinadores, nem inclinei meu ouvido aos que me instruíram!
14 Soon was I in all evil, in the midst of convocation and assembly.
14 Eu quase estava envolvido em todo mal no meio da congregação e da assembleia.
15 Drink thou water out of thine own cistern, and flowing streams out of the midst of thine own well.
15 Bebe águas da tua própria cisterna, e águas correntes do teu próprio poço.
16 Let not thy fountains, flow over, abroad, in the streets, dividings of waters:
16 Que as tuas fontes se dispersem para fora, e rios de águas nas ruas.
17 Let them be for thyself, alone, and not for strangers with thee.
17 Sejam só para ti, e não para os estranhos que estão contigo.
18 Let thy well-spring be blessed,and get thy joy from the wife of thy youth:
18 Que a tua fonte seja abençoada; e regozija-te com a esposa da tua juventude.
19 A loving hind! a graceful doe! let, her bosom, content thee at all times, and, in her love, mayst thou stray evermore.
19 Que ela seja como uma corça amorosa e uma cabra agradável; que os seus seios te satisfaçam em todo o tempo, e que tu sejas sempre arrebatado pelo seu amor.
20 Wherefore, then, shouldst thou stray, my son, with a strange woman? or embrace the bosom of a woman unknown?
20 E por que, filho meu, te deixarias ser arrebatado por uma mulher estranha e abraçar o seio de uma estrangeira?
21 For, before the eyes of Yahweh, are the ways of a man,and, all his tracks, doth he consider:
21 Porque os caminhos de um homem estão diante dos olhos do SENHOR, e ele pondera todas as suas saídas.
22 His own iniquities, shall entrap him with the lawless, and, by the cords of his own sin, shall he be seized.
22 Quanto ao ímpio, as suas iniquidades o prenderão, e com as cordas do seu pecado será detido.
23 He, shall die, for lack of discipline, and, by the abounding of his perversity, shall he be lost.
23 Ele morrerá sem instrução, e na grandeza da sua loucura se perderá.
