1 My son, to my wisdom, attend, and, to mine understanding, incline thou thine ear:
1 Filho meu, atende à minha sabedoria; à minha inteligência inclina o teu ouvido;
2 That thou mayest preserve discretion,and, as for knowledge, that thy lips may guard it.
2 Para que guardes os meus conselhos e os teus lábios observem o conhecimento.
3 For, with sweet droppings, drip the lips of her that is a stranger, and, smoother than oil, is her mouth;
3 Porque os lábios da mulher estranha destilam favos de mel, e o seu paladar é mais suave do que o azeite.
4 But, the latter end of her, is bitter as wormwood, sharp, as a two-edged sword!
4 Mas o seu fim é amargoso como o absinto, agudo como a espada de dois gumes.
5 Her feet, are going down to death,on hades, will her steps take firm hold.
5 Os seus pés descem para a morte; os seus passos estão impregnados do inferno.
6 Lest, the path of life, she should ponder, her tracks have wandered she knoweth not .
6 Para que não ponderes os caminhos da vida, as suas andanças são errantes: jamais os conhecerás.
7 Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken unto me, and do not turn away from the sayings of my mouth.
7 Agora, pois, filhos, dai-me ouvidos, e não vos desvieis das palavras da minha boca.
8 Keep far from her thy way, and do not go near the opening of her house:
8 Longe dela seja o teu caminho, e não te chegues à porta da sua casa;
9 Lest thou give, to other men, thy vigour, and thy years, to him that is cruel:
9 Para que não dês a outrem a tua honra, e não entregues a cruéis os teus anos de vida;
10 Lest strange men, be well fed, by thy strength, and, thy toils, be in the house of the alien.
10 Para que não farte a estranhos o teu esforço, e todo o fruto do teu trabalho vá parar em casa alheia;
11 So shalt thou grieve in thy latter end, in the failing of thy flesh and of thy healthy condition;
11 E no fim venhas a gemer, no consumir-se da tua carne e do teu corpo.
12 And thou shalt sayHow I hated correction! and, reproof, my heart disdained;
12 E então digas: Como odiei a correção! e o meu coração desprezou a repreensão!
13 Neither hearkened I to the voice of my teachers, nor, to my instructors, inclined I mine ear:
13 E não escutei a voz dos que me ensinavam, nem aos meus mestres inclinei o meu ouvido!
14 Soon was I in all evil, in the midst of convocation and assembly.
14 No meio da congregação e da assembléia foi que eu me achei em quase todo o mal.
15 Drink thou water out of thine own cistern, and flowing streams out of the midst of thine own well.
15 Bebe água da tua fonte, e das correntes do teu poço.
16 Let not thy fountains, flow over, abroad, in the streets, dividings of waters:
16 Derramar-se-iam as tuas fontes por fora, e pelas ruas os ribeiros de águas?
17 Let them be for thyself, alone, and not for strangers with thee.
17 Sejam para ti só, e não para os estranhos contigo.
18 Let thy well-spring be blessed,and get thy joy from the wife of thy youth:
18 Seja bendito o teu manancial, e alegra-te com a mulher da tua mocidade.
19 A loving hind! a graceful doe! let, her bosom, content thee at all times, and, in her love, mayst thou stray evermore.
19 Como cerva amorosa, e gazela graciosa, os seus seios te saciem todo o tempo; e pelo seu amor sejas atraído perpetuamente.
20 Wherefore, then, shouldst thou stray, my son, with a strange woman? or embrace the bosom of a woman unknown?
20 E porque, filho meu, te deixarias atrair por outra mulher, e te abraçarias ao peito de uma estranha?
21 For, before the eyes of Yahweh, are the ways of a man,and, all his tracks, doth he consider:
21 Eis que os caminhos do homem estão perante os olhos do Senhor, e ele pesa todas as suas veredas.
22 His own iniquities, shall entrap him with the lawless, and, by the cords of his own sin, shall he be seized.
22 Quanto ao ímpio, as suas iniqüidades o prenderão, e com as cordas do seu pecado será detido.
23 He, shall die, for lack of discipline, and, by the abounding of his perversity, shall he be lost.
23 Ele morrerá, porque desavisadamente andou, e pelo excesso da sua loucura se perderá.
