1 Upon my watch-tower, will I stand, and will station myself upon the bulwark,so will I keep outlook, to seewhat he will speak with me, and what I shall reply, when I am reproved.
1 Vou ficar de sentinela, e postar-me sobre a trincheira; vou espreitar o que vai me dizer o Senhor, e o que ele vai responder ao meu pedido.
2 Then Yahweh answered me, and said, Write the vision, Yea, make it plain on tablets, that one may swiftly read it;
2 E o Senhor respondeu-me assim: Escreve esta visão, grava-a em tabuinhas, para que ela possa ser lida facilmente;
3 For yet is the vision for an appointed time, still, it presseth towards an end, and will not deceive,if it tarry, wait thou for it, for it, surely cometh,will not be too late.
3 porque há ainda uma visão para um termo fixado, ela se aproxima rapidamente de seu termo e não falhará. Mas, se tardar, espera-a, porque ela se realizará com toda a certeza e não falhará.
4 Lo! as for the conceited one, crooked is his soul within him,- but, one who is righteous, by his faithfulness, shall live.
4 Eis que sucumbe o que não tem a alma íntegra, mas o justo vive por sua fidelidade.
5 Moreover also, when wine betrayeth, a man, is arrogant, and findeth no rest,because he hath enlarged, like hades, his desire, yea, he, is like death, and cannot be satisfied,but hath gathered unto himself, all the nations, and assembled unto himself, all the peoples.
5 Sem dúvida, o vinho é traiçoeiro: o homem arrogante não tem repouso, dilata a goela como a voragem da habitação dos mortos, e se mostra tão insaciável como a morte; ele junta para si todas as nações, e engloba em si todos os povos.
6 Shall not, these, all of them, against him, take upa taunt, a mocking poem, enigmatical sentencesconcerning him? And sayAlas! for him who maketh abundance in what is not his own, How long? that he should be burdening himself with heavy debts?
6 Porventura não se entregarão todos esses a compor sátiras sobre ele, a causticá-lo com zombarias e alusões picantes, e a dizer: Ai daquele que amontoa o bem alheio! - Até quando? - E do que acumula sobre si o peso da dívida!
7 Will not thy creditors, suddenly rise up? and they who shall violently shake thee, all at once become active? Then shalt thou serve for booties, unto them!
7 Porventura não se levantarão de repente os teus credores, e não surgirão os teus opressores? Tornar-te-ás presa deles.
8 Because, thou, hast plundered many nations, all the residue of the peoples, shall plunder thee,for shedding Human blood, and doing violence to the earth, to the city, and to all who dwell therein.
8 Visto que despojaste numerosas nações, despojar-te-ão os outros povos que restam, por causa do sangue humano derramado e das violências praticadas contra a terra, as cidades e as populações.
9 Alas! for him who extorteth an extortion of wrong for his own house,that he may set on high his nest, that he may be delivered from the grasp of calamity.
9 Ai daquele que procura lucros criminosos para a sua casa, e que quer colocar bem alto o seu ninho, para escapar ao golpe da adversidade!
10 Thou hast counseled shame to thy housemaking an end of many peoples, and endangering thine own life.
10 Teus desígnios cobriram de vergonha a tua família, pois, destruindo muitos povos, fizeste mal a ti mesmo,
11 Surely, the stone out of the wall, will make outcry,and, the tie out of the timber, will answer it.
11 porque as pedras das muralhas clamam vingança, e fazem-lhe eco as vigas de madeira.
12 Alas! for him who buildeth a city with deeds of blood,and establisheth a town with perversity.
12 Ai daquele que constrói uma cidade a preço de sangue, que funda uma cidade na iniqüidade!
13 Lo! is it not from Yahweh of hoststhat peoples labour for fire, and, populations, for emptiness, weary themselves?
13 Não é esta uma ordem do Senhor dos exércitos: Que os povos trabalhem para o fogo, e as nações se fatiguem para o nada?
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh,as, the waters, cover the sea.
14 Porque a terra se encherá do conhecimento da glória do Senhor, como o fundo do mar está coberto de suas águas.
15 Alas! for him who causeth his neighbour to drink, from the goblet of thy fury, and also, making him drunk,to the end thou mayest gloat over their parts of shame.
15 Ai daquele que dá de beber aos outros, misturando {à bebida} um veneno que os embriague, para ver a sua nudez!
16 Thou art sated with contempt, more than glory, drink, thou too, and expose thy person,the cup of the right hand of Yahweh, shall come round unto thee, and ignominious filth be upon thy glory;
16 Serás saciado de opróbrio, não de glória; bebe, também tu, e embriaga-te! Voltar-se-á sobre ti a taça apresentada pela mão do Senhor, e a abjeção {cairá} sobre a tua glória,
17 For, the violence to Lebanon, shall cover thee, and wasting by wild beasts shall cause them terror,for shedding Human blood, and doing violence to the earth, to the city, and to all who dwell therein.
17 porque a violência praticada contra o Líbano pesará sobre ti, e os estragos dos animais far-te-ão tremer, por causa do sangue humano derramado e das violências praticadas contra a terra, as cidades e as populações.
18 What hath a carved image, profited, though the fashioner thereof, carved it? a molten image, and a teacher of falsehood,though the fashioner of his fashioned thing trusted therein? that men should make Dumb Nonentities!
18 Ai daquele que diz à madeira: Desperta! E à pedra: Levanta-te! {Não se ouvirá mais que silêncio}. Ei-lo coberto de ouro e de prata, mas não há nele sopro algum de vida.
19 Alas! for him who saith to wood, Awake, bestir thee! to a silent stone, he, shall teach! Though he is overlaid with gold and silver, yet, no spirit whatsoever, is in him!
19 De que serve a imagem esculpida para que o escultor a talhe? E o ídolo fundido, que só ensina mentiras, para que o artífice nele ponha a sua confiança, fabricando divindades mudas?
20 Howbeit, Yahweh, is in his holy temple,Hush before him, all the earth.
20 Mas o Senhor reside em sua santa morada; silêncio diante dele, ó terra inteira!
