1 Upon my watch-tower, will I stand, and will station myself upon the bulwark,so will I keep outlook, to seewhat he will speak with me, and what I shall reply, when I am reproved.
1 Subirei até minha torre de vigia e ficarei de guarda. Ali esperarei para ver o que ele diz, que resposta dará
2 Then Yahweh answered me, and said, Write the vision, Yea, make it plain on tablets, that one may swiftly read it;
2 Então o S enhor me disse: “Escreva minha resposta em tábuas, para que se possa ler depressa e com clareza.
3 For yet is the vision for an appointed time, still, it presseth towards an end, and will not deceive,if it tarry, wait thou for it, for it, surely cometh,will not be too late.
3 Esta é uma visão do futuro; descreve o fim, e tudo se cumprirá. Se parecer que demora a vir, espere com paciência, pois certamente acontecerá; não se atrasará.
4 Lo! as for the conceited one, crooked is his soul within him,- but, one who is righteous, by his faithfulness, shall live.
4 “Olhe para os arrogantes, os perversos que em si mesmos confiam; o justo, porém, viverá por sua fidelidade a Deus.
5 Moreover also, when wine betrayeth, a man, is arrogant, and findeth no rest,because he hath enlarged, like hades, his desire, yea, he, is like death, and cannot be satisfied,but hath gathered unto himself, all the nations, and assembled unto himself, all the peoples.
5 A riqueza é traiçoeira, e os arrogantes nunca descansam. Escancaram a boca como a sepultura e, como a morte, nunca se saciam. Em sua cobiça, ajuntaram muitas nações e engoliram muitos povos.
6 Shall not, these, all of them, against him, take upa taunt, a mocking poem, enigmatical sentencesconcerning him? And sayAlas! for him who maketh abundance in what is not his own, How long? that he should be burdening himself with heavy debts?
6 “Em breve, porém, seus cativos os insultarão; zombarão deles, dizendo: ‘Que aflição espera vocês, ladrões! Ficaram ricos pela extorsão; até quando continuarão desse modo?’.
7 Will not thy creditors, suddenly rise up? and they who shall violently shake thee, all at once become active? Then shalt thou serve for booties, unto them!
7 De repente, seus credores tomarão providências; eles se voltarão contra vocês e levarão tudo que têm, enquanto vocês olham, trêmulos e indefesos.
8 Because, thou, hast plundered many nations, all the residue of the peoples, shall plunder thee,for shedding Human blood, and doing violence to the earth, to the city, and to all who dwell therein.
8 Porque saquearam muitas nações, agora todos os sobreviventes os saquearão. Cometeram homicídio nos campos e encheram as cidades de violência.
9 Alas! for him who extorteth an extortion of wrong for his own house,that he may set on high his nest, that he may be delivered from the grasp of calamity.
9 “Que aflição espera vocês que constroem casas enormes com dinheiro obtido por meio de opressão! Acreditam que a riqueza comprará segurança e manterá sua família afastada do perigo.
10 Thou hast counseled shame to thy housemaking an end of many peoples, and endangering thine own life.
10 Mas, com os homicídios que cometeram, envergonharam seu nome e condenaram a própria vida.
11 Surely, the stone out of the wall, will make outcry,and, the tie out of the timber, will answer it.
11 As pedras das paredes clamam contra vocês, e as vigas dos telhados também se queixam.
12 Alas! for him who buildeth a city with deeds of blood,and establisheth a town with perversity.
12 “Que aflição espera vocês que constroem cidades com dinheiro obtido por meio de homicídio e corrupção!
13 Lo! is it not from Yahweh of hoststhat peoples labour for fire, and, populations, for emptiness, weary themselves?
13 Acaso o S enhor dos Exércitos não transformará em cinzas as riquezas das nações? Elas trabalham com afinco, mas de nada adianta.
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh,as, the waters, cover the sea.
14 Pois, assim como as águas enchem o mar, a terra se encherá do conhecimento da glória do S
15 Alas! for him who causeth his neighbour to drink, from the goblet of thy fury, and also, making him drunk,to the end thou mayest gloat over their parts of shame.
15 “Que aflição espera vocês que dão bebidas a seus companheiros! Vocês os obrigam a se embriagar e depois se alegram, maldosos, quando eles ficam nus e envergonhados.
16 Thou art sated with contempt, more than glory, drink, thou too, and expose thy person,the cup of the right hand of Yahweh, shall come round unto thee, and ignominious filth be upon thy glory;
16 Em breve, porém, será sua vez de serem humilhados; venham, bebam e fiquem despidos e expostos! Bebam do cálice do S e toda a sua glória será transformada em desonra.
17 For, the violence to Lebanon, shall cover thee, and wasting by wild beasts shall cause them terror,for shedding Human blood, and doing violence to the earth, to the city, and to all who dwell therein.
17 Derrubaram as florestas do Líbano, agora vocês serão derrubados. Destruíram os animais selvagens, agora o terror deles virá sobre vocês. Cometeram homicídio nos campos e encheram as cidades de violência.
18 What hath a carved image, profited, though the fashioner thereof, carved it? a molten image, and a teacher of falsehood,though the fashioner of his fashioned thing trusted therein? that men should make Dumb Nonentities!
18 “De que vale o ídolo esculpido por mãos humanas, ou a imagem de metal que só os engana? Como é tolo confiar em sua própria criação, num deus que nem sequer é capaz de falar!
19 Alas! for him who saith to wood, Awake, bestir thee! to a silent stone, he, shall teach! Though he is overlaid with gold and silver, yet, no spirit whatsoever, is in him!
19 Que aflição espera vocês que dizem a ídolos de madeira: ‘Despertem!’, e que dizem a imagens mudas de pedra: ‘Levantem-se!’. Acaso um ídolo pode lhes dizer o que fazer? Apesar de serem revestidos de ouro e prata, não há vida dentro deles.
20 Howbeit, Yahweh, is in his holy temple,Hush before him, all the earth.
20 O S enhor , porém, está em seu santo templo; toda a terra cale-se diante dele.”
