1 But the famine, was severe in the land.
1 E a fome era grave na terra.
2 So it came to pass when they had made an end of eating the corn which they had brought in out of Egypt, that their father said unto them,Return buy for us a little food.
2 E aconteceu que, quando eles terminaram de comer o trigo que haviam trazido do Egito, seu pai lhes disse: Ide novamente, comprai um pouco de alimento.
3 Then spake Judah unto him saying,The man, did protest, to us sayingYe shall not see my face, except, your brother, is with you.
3 E Judá falou com ele, dizendo: O homem nos afirmou solenemente, dizendo: Não vereis a minha face, exceto se vosso irmão estiver convosco.
4 If thou art sending our brother with us, we will certainly go down, and buy for thee food;
4 Se tu enviares nosso irmão conosco, desceremos para comprar-te alimento,
5 but, if thou art not sending him, we will not go down, for the man, said unto us Ye shall not see my face, except, your brother, is with you.
5 mas se tu não o enviares, não desceremos, porque o homem nos disse: Não vereis a minha face, exceto se vosso irmão estiver convosco.
6 And Israel said, Wherefore did ye ill to me,to tell the man, there yet remained to you a brother?
6 E Israel disse: Por que agistes tão maldosamente comigo, ao contar ao homem que tínheis ainda um irmão?
7 And they said, The man did ask I concerning ourselves and concerning our kindred sayingIs your father yet alive? Have ye a brother? So we told him according to the tenor of these words. Could we, at all know, that he would say, Bring down your brother?
7 E eles disseram: O homem nos perguntou particularmente por nossa condição, e por nossa parentela, dizendo: Vosso pai ainda está vivo? Tendes outro irmão? E lhe contamos de acordo com o teor destas palavras. Como poderíamos saber que ele diria: Trazei vosso irmão?
8 Then said Judah unto Israel his fatherCome! send thou down the young man with me that we may arise and go our way,and live and not die, both we and thou and our little ones.
8 E Judá disse a Israel, seu pai: Envia o rapaz comigo, e nos levantaremos e partiremos, para que vivamos, e não morramos, tanto nós, como tu e também nossos pequenos.
9 I, will be surety for him, at my hand, shalt thou require him,as surely as I bring him not in unto thee, and set him down before thee, so surely will I be counted a sinner against thee all the days,
9 Eu serei fiador por ele; da minha mão o exigirás. Se eu não o trouxer a ti, e o colocar diante de ti, então deixa-me carregar a culpa para sempre,
10 For, if we had not lingered, surely now, had we come back here a second time.
10 porque se não tivéssemos demorado, certamente agora já teríamos retornado uma segunda vez.
11 Then Israel their father said unto themIf so, then do this,Take of the song of the land in your vessels, and carry down to the man a present,A little balsam and a little honey, tragacanth gum and cistus gum, pistachio nuts, and almonds.
11 E o seu pai, Israel, disse-lhes: Se precisa ser assim agora, fazei-o: tomai os melhores frutos da terra em vossos vasos, e levai um presente ao homem, um pouco de bálsamo, um pouco de mel, especiarias e mirra, nozes e amêndoas.
12 And double silver, take in your hand,also the silver that was put back in the mouth of your sacks, carry ye back in your hand, peradventure it was an error,
12 E levai dinheiro em dobro em vossas mãos. E o dinheiro que foi trazido novamente na boca dos vossos sacos, levai-o novamente em vossas mãos. Talvez tenha sido um erro.
13 Your brother also, take ye,and arise go again unto the man.
13 Levai também vosso irmão, e levantai-vos, ide novamente ao homem;
14 And, God Almighty, give you compassion before the man, so shall he send with you, your other brother, and Benjamin. But, as for me, when I am bereaved, I am bereaved!
14 e o Deus Todo-Poderoso vos dê misericórdia diante do homem, para que ele possa enviar vosso outro irmão, e Benjamim. Se eu for privado de meus filhos, privado serei.
15 So the men took this present, double silver also, took they in their hand and Benjamin,and arose and went down into Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
15 E os homens tomaram o presente, e levaram dinheiro em dobro nas suas mãos, e a Benjamim, e se levantaram, e desceram ao Egito, e se colocaram diante de José.
16 And Joseph sawwith themBenjamin, so he said to him that was over his house Bring the men into the house,and slay meat and make ready, for with me, shall the men eat at noon.
16 E quando José viu Benjamim com eles, disse ao administrador de sua casa: Levai estes homens para casa, e mata um animal, e prepara, porque estes homens comerão comigo ao meio-dia.
17 So the men did as Joseph had said, and the man brought the men into Josephs house,
17 E o homem fez como José ordenara, e o homem levou os homens para a casa de José.
18 Then were the men afraid because they had been brought into the house of Joseph, and they saidFor the matter of the silver that came back in our sacks at the beginning, have, we, been brought in,that he may turn round upon us and fall upon us, and take us for servants and our asses.
18 E os homens ficaram temerosos, porque eles foram levados à casa de José, e disseram: Por causa do dinheiro que foi devolvido aos nossos sacos na primeira vez fomos trazidos aqui, para procurarem motivo contra nós, e se arremessar sobre nós, e nos tomar por escravos, e a nossos jumentos.
19 So they drew near unto the man that was over Josephs house,and spake unto him at the entrance of the house;
19 E se aproximaram do administrador da casa de José, e conversaram com ele à porta da casa,
20 and said, May it please my lord! We, did indeed come down, at the beginning to buy food.
20 e disseram: Ó Senhor, viemos, na verdade, a primeira vez para comprar alimento,
21 And it came to pass when we had entered into the inn, that we opened our sacks, and lo! the silver of each man, in the mouth of his sack,our silver in its full weight,so we have bought it back in our hand!
21 e aconteceu que, quando chegamos à hospedaria, abrimos nossos sacos e eis que o dinheiro de cada homem estava na boca de seu saco, nosso dinheiro em todo o seu peso, e o trouxemos nas nossas mãos novamente.
22 And, more silver, have we brought down in our hand, to buy food,we know not who put our silver in our sacks.
22 E outro dinheiro trouxemos nas nossas mãos para comprar alimento; não sabemos quem colocou o nosso dinheiro em nossos sacos.
23 And he saidPeace to you do not fear! Your God, and the God of your father, hath given you secret treasure, in your sacks, as for your silver, it came in unto me. And he brought forth unto them Simeon.
23 E ele disse: Paz esteja convosco, não temais. Vosso Deus, e o Deus de vosso pai, deu-vos um tesouro em vossos sacos; eu recebi o vosso dinheiro. E ele lhes trouxe Simeão.
24 So the man brought the men into Josephs house,and gave them water and they bathed their feet, and he gave them provender for their asses.
24 E o homem conduziu os homens à casa de José, e lhes deu água, e eles lavaram seus pés, e ele deu forragem aos seus jumentos.
25 And they made ready the present, against the coming in of Joseph at noon,for they heard that it was there they should eat bread.
25 E eles prepararam o presente para José, que viria ao meio-dia, porque ouviram que eles deveriam comer pão ali.
26 So when Joseph came into the house, they brought in to him the present which was in their hand into the house,and bowed themselves down to him to the earth.
26 E quando José veio para casa, trouxeram-lhe o presente que estava nas mãos deles para dentro da casa, e se curvaram diante dele com a face em terra.
27 Then asked he after their welfare, and saidIs it well with your aged father, of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
27 E ele lhes perguntou sobre seu bem-estar, e disse: Está bem o vosso pai, o velho de quem falastes? Ele ainda está vivo?
28 And they saidIt is well with thy servant our father, he is yet alive. And they bent their heads and bowed them-selves down.
28 E eles responderam: Teu servo, nosso pai, está com boa saúde, ele ainda está vivo. E eles curvaram sua cabeça, e fizeram reverência.
29 Then lifted he up his eyes, and saw Benjamin his brother son of his mother, and saidIs, this, your youngest brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God, grant thee favour my son!
29 E ele levantou seus olhos, e viu seu irmão Benjamim, filho de sua mãe, e disse: Este é vosso irmão mais jovem, do qual me falastes? E ele disse: Deus seja gracioso contigo, meu filho.
30 And Joseph made haste for his compassions towards his brother were pent up, and he sought to weep,so he went into the inner chamber and wept there,
30 E José se apressou, pois as suas entranhas se moveram para com seu irmão. E ele procurou onde chorar, e entrou na sua câmara, e chorou ali.
31 Then bathed he his face and came forth,and restrained himself, and said Set on bread!
31 E ele lavou sua face, e saiu, e se conteve, e disse: Ponde o pão.
32 So they set on for himby himself, and for themby themselves,and for the Egyptians that were eating with himby themselves, for the Egyptians might not eat, bread, with the Hebrews for an abomination, had that been to Egyptians.
32 E colocaram para ele à parte, e para eles à parte, e à parte para os egípcios que comiam com ele, porque os egípcios não podiam comer pão com os hebreus, porque isso é abominação para os egípcios.
33 So they took their seats before him, the firstborn, according to his birthright and the youngest, according to his youth,and the men looked with amazement, each one at his companion.
33 E assentaram-se diante dele, o primogênito de acordo com seu direito de nascimento, e o mais jovem de acordo com sua juventude, e os homens se maravilharam entre si.
34 And he sent portions from before him unto them, and the portion of Benjamin exceeded the portions of them all, five-fold. And they drank and made merry with him.
34 E de si mesmo ele tomou porções para eles, mas a porção de Benjamim era cinco vezes maior do que as dos outros. E eles beberam, e se alegraram com ele.
