1 Then responded Moses, and said, And lo! they will not believe me, neither hearken to my voice,for they will say, Yahweh, hath not appeared unto thee.
1 Moisés respondeu: “E se não acreditarem em mim ou não quiserem me ouvir? E se disserem: ‘O S enhor nunca lhe apareceu’?”.
2 And Yahweh said unto himWhat is this in thy hand? And he saidA staff.
2 Então o S enhor lhe perguntou: “O que você tem na mão?”. “Uma vara”, respondeu Moisés.
3 Then said heCast it to the earth. And he cast it to the earth, and it became a serpent,and Moses fled from the face thereof.
3 “Jogue-a no chão”, disse o S enhor . Moisés jogou a vara no chão, e ela se transformou numa serpente. Moisés fugia dela,
4 And Yahweh said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and take it by its tail: So he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a staff in his hand:
4 mas o S enhor lhe disse: “Estenda a mão e pegue-a pela cauda”. Moisés estendeu a mão e pegou a serpente, e ela voltou a ser uma vara.
5 that they may believe that Yahweh, God of their fathers,God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob hath appeared unto thee.
5 Então o S enhor lhe disse: “Faça esse sinal e eles acreditarão que o S enhor , o Deus de seus antepassados, o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó, de fato lhe apareceu”.
6 Then said Yahweh unto him, yet againBring, I pray thee, thy hand, into thy bosom. So he brought his hand, into his bosom,and then took it out, and lo! his hand, was leprous,like snow,
6 O S enhor também disse a Moisés: “Agora, coloque a mão dentro do seu manto”. Moisés colocou a mão dentro do manto e, quando a tirou, ela estava com lepra, branca como neve.
7 And he saidPut back thy hand into thy bosom: So he put back his hand into his bosom,and then took it out of his bosom, and lo it had come again like his own flesh:
7 “Coloque a mão dentro do manto outra vez”, disse o S enhor . Moisés colocou a mão dentro do manto outra vez e, quando a tirou, ela estava tão saudável quanto o resto do corpo.
8 thus shall it come to pass, if they will not believe thee, nor hearken to the voice of the first sign, then will they believe the voice of the next sign;
8 Disse ainda: “Se eles não acreditarem em você e não se deixarem convencer pelo primeiro sinal, serão convencidos pelo segundo.
9 and it shall come to pass if they will not believe even these two signs nor hearken to thy voice, then shalt thou take of the water of the river, and pour it out on the dry land,so shall the water which thou hast taken from the river, become, yea it shall become, blood, on the dry land.
9 E, se não acreditarem em você nem o ouvirem depois desses dois sinais, tire um pouco de água do rio Nilo e derrame-a sobre a terra seca. Quando o fizer, a água do Nilo se transformará em sangue na terra”.
10 And Moses said unto YahwehPardon, O My Lord! not a man of words, am I, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant,for heavy of mouth and heavy of tongue, I am.
10 Moisés, porém, disse ao S enhor : “Ó Senhor, não tenho facilidade para falar, nem antes, nem agora que falaste com teu servo! Não consigo me expressar e me atrapalho com as palavras”.
11 Then Yahweh said unto himWho appointed a mouth for man, or who appointeth him to be dumb, or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh,?
11 O S enhor perguntou a Moisés: “Quem forma a boca do ser humano? Quem torna o homem mudo ou surdo? Quem o torna cego ou o faz ver? Por acaso não sou eu, o S enhor ?
12 Now, therefore go,and, I, will be with thy mouth, so will I direct thee, what thou shalt speak.
12 Agora vá! Eu estarei com você quando falar e o instruirei a respeito do que deve dizer”.
13 And he saidPardon, O My Lord! send, I pray thee by the hand of him whom thou wilt send
13 “Por favor, Senhor!”, suplicou Moisés. “Envia qualquer outra pessoa!”
14 Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Moses, and he saidIs there not Aaron, thy brother, the Levite? I know that he lean speak. Moreover also lo! he himself is coming forth to meet thee, as surely as he seeth thee, so surely will he rejoice in his heart.
14 Então o S enhor se irou com Moisés e lhe disse: “E quanto a seu irmão Arão, o levita? Sei que ele fala bem. Veja, ele está vindo ao seu encontro e se alegrará em vê-lo.
15 Then shalt thou speak unto him, and shalt put the words in his mouth,and, I, will be with thy mouth and with his mouth, so will I direct you what ye shall do.
15 Fale com ele e diga as palavras que ele deve transmitir. Estarei com vocês dois quando falarem e os instruirei a respeito do que devem fazer.
16 And, he, shall speak for thee unto the people,so shall it come to pass that he shall become thy mouth, and thou shalt become to him as God.
16 Arão falará por você diante do povo. Ele será seu porta-voz, e você será como Deus para ele.
17 And this staff, take thou in thy hand,wherewith thou shalt do the signs.
17 Leve com você a vara e use-a para realizar os sinais que eu lhe mostrei”.
18 So Moses went and returned unto Jethro his father-in-law and said to himLet me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren who are in Egypt, that I my see whether they are yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses: Go and prosper.
18 Moisés voltou à casa de Jetro, seu sogro, e lhe disse: “Por favor, permita-me voltar ao Egito para procurar meus parentes. Nem sei se ainda vivem”. “Vá em paz”, respondeu Jetro.
19 Then said Yahweh unto Moses in Midian, Go, return to Egypt,for all the men are dead who were seeking thy life.
19 Antes de Moisés partir de Midiã, o S enhor lhe disse: “Volte ao Egito, pois todos que queriam matá-lo já morreram”.
20 So Moses took his wife and his sons, and caused them to ride upon the ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt,and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.
20 Então Moisés tomou sua mulher e seus filhos, montou-os num jumento e voltou para a terra do Egito. Levava na mão a vara de Deus.
21 And Yahweh said unto Moses, When thou goest to return to Egypt, see as touching all the wonders which I have put in thy hand, that thou do them before Pharaohbut, I, will let his heart wax bold, and he will not suffer the people to go.
21 O S enhor disse a Moisés: “Quando chegar ao Egito, apresente-se ao faraó e faça todos os milagres para os quais eu o capacitei. Contudo, endurecerei o coração dele, para que se recuse a deixar o povo sair.
22 Then shalt thou say unto Pharaoh, Thus, saith YahwehMy sonmy firstborn, is Israel;
22 Você dirá ao faraó: ‘Assim diz o S enhor : Israel é meu filho mais velho.
23 Therefore I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me, But if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I, am going to slay, thy son, thy firstborn.
23 Ordenei que você deixasse meu filho sair para me adorar. Mas, uma vez que você se recusou, matarei seu filho mais velho’”.
24 And it came to pass, on the way, in the resting-place for the night, that Yahweh fell upon him, and sought to kill him.
24 No caminho para o Egito, no lugar onde Moisés e sua família haviam parado a fim de passar a noite, o S enhor o confrontou e estava prestes a matá-lo.
25 So Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it down at his feet,and saidSurely, a bridegroom by rites of blood, art thou to me!
25 Mas Zípora pegou uma faca de pedra e circuncidou seu filho. Com o prepúcio, tocou os pés de Moisés e lhe disse: “Agora você é para mim um marido de sangue”.
26 So he let him go, Then, it was that she said, A bridegroom by rites of bloodwith regard to the rites of circumcision.
26 (Quando disse “um marido de sangue”, estava se referindo à circuncisão.) Depois disso, o S enhor deixou Moisés.
27 And Yahweh said unto Aaron, Go thy way to meet Moses, towards the desert. So he went his way, and fell in with him in the mountain of God and kissed him.
27 O S enhor tinha dito a Arão: “Vá ao deserto, ao encontro de Moisés”. Arão foi, encontrou Moisés no monte de Deus e o saudou com um beijo.
28 And Moses told Aaron, all the words of Yahweh wherewith he had sent him,and all the signs wherewith he had charged him.
28 Moisés contou a Arão tudo que o S enhor havia ordenado que ele dissesse e falou também sobre os sinais que deveria realizar.
29 So Moses and Aaron went their way,and gathered together all the elders of the sons of Israel.
29 Então Moisés e Arão voltaram ao Egito e convocaram uma reunião com todos os líderes de Israel.
30 And Aaron spake all the words which Yahweh had spoken unto Moses,and did the signs before the eyes of the people,
30 Arão lhes comunicou tudo que o S enhor tinha dito a Moisés, que realizou os sinais diante deles.
31 And the people believed,and when they heard that Yahweh had concerned himself for the sons of Israel, and that he had looked upon their humiliation, then bent they their heads and bowed themselves down.
31 O povo de Israel se convenceu de que o S enhor tinha enviado Moisés e Arão. Quando ouviram que o S enhor se preocupava com eles e tinha visto seu sofrimento, prostraram-se e o adoraram.
