1 Then responded Moses, and said, And lo! they will not believe me, neither hearken to my voice,for they will say, Yahweh, hath not appeared unto thee.
1 Então respondeu Moisés: Mas eis que não me crerão, nem ouvirão a minha voz, pois dirão: O Senhor não te apareceu.
2 And Yahweh said unto himWhat is this in thy hand? And he saidA staff.
2 Ao que lhe perguntou o Senhor: Que é isso na tua mão. Disse Moisés: uma vara.
3 Then said heCast it to the earth. And he cast it to the earth, and it became a serpent,and Moses fled from the face thereof.
3 Ordenou-lhe o Senhor: Lança-a no chão. Ele a lançou no chão, e ela se tornou em cobra; e Moisés fugiu dela.
4 And Yahweh said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and take it by its tail: So he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a staff in his hand:
4 Então disse o Senhor a Moisés: Estende a mão e pega-lhe pela cauda {estendeu ele a mão e lhe pegou, e ela se tornou em vara na sua mão};
5 that they may believe that Yahweh, God of their fathers,God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob hath appeared unto thee.
5 para que eles creiam que te apareceu o Senhor, o Deus de seus pais, o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó.
6 Then said Yahweh unto him, yet againBring, I pray thee, thy hand, into thy bosom. So he brought his hand, into his bosom,and then took it out, and lo! his hand, was leprous,like snow,
6 Disse-lhe mais o Senhor: Mete agora a mão no seio. E meteu a mão no seio. E quando a tirou, eis que a mão estava leprosa, branca como a neve.
7 And he saidPut back thy hand into thy bosom: So he put back his hand into his bosom,and then took it out of his bosom, and lo it had come again like his own flesh:
7 Disse-lhe ainda: Torna a meter a mão no seio. {E tornou a meter a mão no seio; depois tirou-a do seio, e eis que se tornara como o restante da sua carne.}
8 thus shall it come to pass, if they will not believe thee, nor hearken to the voice of the first sign, then will they believe the voice of the next sign;
8 E sucederá que, se eles não te crerem, nem atentarem para o primeiro sinal, crerão ao segundo sinal.
9 and it shall come to pass if they will not believe even these two signs nor hearken to thy voice, then shalt thou take of the water of the river, and pour it out on the dry land,so shall the water which thou hast taken from the river, become, yea it shall become, blood, on the dry land.
9 E se ainda não crerem a estes dois sinais, nem ouvirem a tua voz, então tomarás da água do rio, e a derramarás sobre a terra seca; e a água que tomares do rio tornar-se-á em sangue sobre a terra seca.
10 And Moses said unto YahwehPardon, O My Lord! not a man of words, am I, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant,for heavy of mouth and heavy of tongue, I am.
10 Então disse Moisés ao Senhor: Ah, Senhor! eu não sou eloqüente, nem o fui dantes, nem ainda depois que falaste ao teu servo; porque sou pesado de boca e pesado de língua.
11 Then Yahweh said unto himWho appointed a mouth for man, or who appointeth him to be dumb, or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh,?
11 Ao que lhe replicou o Senhor: Quem faz a boca do homem? ou quem faz o mudo, ou o surdo, ou o que vê, ou o cego?. Não sou eu, o Senhor?
12 Now, therefore go,and, I, will be with thy mouth, so will I direct thee, what thou shalt speak.
12 Vai, pois, agora, e eu serei com a tua boca e te ensinarei o que hás de falar.
13 And he saidPardon, O My Lord! send, I pray thee by the hand of him whom thou wilt send
13 Ele, porém, respondeu: Ah, Senhor! envia, peço-te, por mão daquele a quem tu hás de enviar.
14 Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh against Moses, and he saidIs there not Aaron, thy brother, the Levite? I know that he lean speak. Moreover also lo! he himself is coming forth to meet thee, as surely as he seeth thee, so surely will he rejoice in his heart.
14 Então se acendeu contra Moisés a ira do Senhor, e disse ele: Não é Arão, o levita, teu irmão? eu sei que ele pode falar bem. Eis que ele também te sai ao encontro, e vendo-te, se alegrará em seu coração.
15 Then shalt thou speak unto him, and shalt put the words in his mouth,and, I, will be with thy mouth and with his mouth, so will I direct you what ye shall do.
15 Tu, pois, lhe falarás, e porás as palavras na sua boca; e eu serei com a tua boca e com a dele, e vos ensinarei o que haveis de fazer.
16 And, he, shall speak for thee unto the people,so shall it come to pass that he shall become thy mouth, and thou shalt become to him as God.
16 E ele falará por ti ao povo; assim ele te será por boca, e tu lhe serás por Deus.
17 And this staff, take thou in thy hand,wherewith thou shalt do the signs.
17 Tomarás, pois, na tua mão esta vara, com que hás de fazer os sinais.
18 So Moses went and returned unto Jethro his father-in-law and said to himLet me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren who are in Egypt, that I my see whether they are yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses: Go and prosper.
18 Então partiu Moisés, e voltando para Jetro, seu sogro, disse-lhe: Deixa-me, peço-te, voltar a meus irmãos, que estão no Egito, para ver se ainda vivem. Disse, pois, Jetro a Moisés: Vai-te em paz.
19 Then said Yahweh unto Moses in Midian, Go, return to Egypt,for all the men are dead who were seeking thy life.
19 Disse também o Senhor a Moisés em Midiã: Vai, volta para o Egito; porque morreram todos os que procuravam tirar-te a vida.
20 So Moses took his wife and his sons, and caused them to ride upon the ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt,and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.
20 Tomou, pois, Moisés sua mulher e seus filhos, e os fez montar num jumento e tornou à terra do Egito; e Moisés levou a vara de Deus na sua mão.
21 And Yahweh said unto Moses, When thou goest to return to Egypt, see as touching all the wonders which I have put in thy hand, that thou do them before Pharaohbut, I, will let his heart wax bold, and he will not suffer the people to go.
21 Disse ainda o Senhor a Moisés: Quando voltares ao Egito, vê que faças diante de Faraó todas as maravilhas que tenho posto na tua mão; mas eu endurecerei o seu coração, e ele não deixará ir o povo.
22 Then shalt thou say unto Pharaoh, Thus, saith YahwehMy sonmy firstborn, is Israel;
22 Então dirás a Faraó: Assim diz o Senhor: Israel é meu filho, meu primogênito;
23 Therefore I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me, But if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I, am going to slay, thy son, thy firstborn.
23 e eu te tenho dito: Deixa ir: meu filho, para que me sirva. mas tu recusaste deixá-lo ir; eis que eu matarei o teu filho, o teu primogênito.
24 And it came to pass, on the way, in the resting-place for the night, that Yahweh fell upon him, and sought to kill him.
24 Ora, sucedeu no caminho, numa estalagem, que o Senhor o encontrou, e quis matá-lo.
25 So Zipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it down at his feet,and saidSurely, a bridegroom by rites of blood, art thou to me!
25 Então Zípora tomou uma faca de pedra, circuncidou o prepúcio de seu filho e, lançando-o aos pés de Moisés, disse: Com efeito, és para mim um esposo sanguinário.
26 So he let him go, Then, it was that she said, A bridegroom by rites of bloodwith regard to the rites of circumcision.
26 O Senhor, pois, o deixou. Ela disse: Esposo sanguinário, por causa da circuncisão.
27 And Yahweh said unto Aaron, Go thy way to meet Moses, towards the desert. So he went his way, and fell in with him in the mountain of God and kissed him.
27 Disse o Senhor a Arão: Vai ao deserto, ao encontro de Moisés. E ele foi e, encontrando-o no monte de Deus, o beijou:
28 And Moses told Aaron, all the words of Yahweh wherewith he had sent him,and all the signs wherewith he had charged him.
28 E relatou Moisés a Arão todas as palavras com que o Senhor o enviara e todos os sinais que lhe mandara.
29 So Moses and Aaron went their way,and gathered together all the elders of the sons of Israel.
29 Então foram Moisés e Arão e ajuntaram todos os anciãos dos filhos de Israel;
30 And Aaron spake all the words which Yahweh had spoken unto Moses,and did the signs before the eyes of the people,
30 e Arão falou todas as palavras que o Senhor havia dito a Moisés e fez os sinais perante os olhos do povo.
31 And the people believed,and when they heard that Yahweh had concerned himself for the sons of Israel, and that he had looked upon their humiliation, then bent they their heads and bowed themselves down.
31 E o povo creu; e quando ouviram que o Senhor havia visitado os filhos de Israel e que tinha visto a sua aflição, inclinaram-se, e adoraram.
