¹ I exhort you, therefore, I, the prisoner in the Lord, to walk in a manner worthy of the calling wherewith ye were called:

¹ Portanto eu, o preso do Senhor, rogo-vos que andeis como é digno da vocação com que fostes chamados,

² With all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, bearing one with another in love,

² com toda a humildade e mansidão, com longanimidade, suportando-vos uns aos outros em amor;

³ Giving diligence to keepthe oneness of the Spirit in the uniting-bond of peace,

³ procurando guardar a unidade do Espírito pelo vínculo da paz.

⁴ One body, and one spirit, even as ye were also called in one hope of your calling,

⁴ Há um só corpo e um só Espírito, como também fostes chamados em uma só esperança da vossa vocação;

⁵ One Lord, one faith, one immersion,

⁵ um só Senhor, uma só fé, um só batismo;

⁶ One God and Father of allwho is over all, and through all, and in all.

⁶ um só Deus e Pai de todos, o qual é sobre todos, e através de todos, e em todos vós.

⁷ To each one of you, however, hath favour been given, according to the measure of the free-gift of the Christ;

⁷ Mas a cada um de nós a graça foi dada, segundo a medida do dom de Cristo.

⁸ Wherefore he saithAscending on high, he took captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

⁸ Pelo que ele diz: Quando subiu ao alto, levou cativo o cativeiro, e deu dons aos homens.

⁹ Now this, He ascended; what is it,savethat he also descended into the under parts of the earth?

⁹ (Agora que ele ascendeu, que é, senão o que também descendeu primeiro às partes inferiores da terra?

¹⁰ He that descended, he, it is who also ascended over-above all the heavens, that he might fill all things;

¹⁰ Aquele que desceu é também o mesmo que subiu acima de todos os céus, para cumprir todas as coisas).

¹¹ And, he, gavesome, indeed, to be apostles, and some, prophets, and some, evangelists, and some, shepherds and teachers,

¹¹ E ele mesmo deu alguns para apóstolos, e alguns para profetas, e alguns para evangelistas, e alguns para pastores e professores,

¹² With a view to the fitting of the saints for the work of ministering, for an upbuilding of the body of the Christ;

¹² para o aperfeiçoamento dos santos, para a obra do ministério, para a edificação do corpo de Cristo,

¹³ Until we all advanceinto the oneness of the faith, and the personal knowledge of the Son of God, into a man of full-growth, into the measure of the stature of the fulness of the Christ;

¹³ até que todos cheguemos à unidade da fé e ao conhecimento do Filho de Deus, a homem perfeito, à medida da estatura da plenitude de Cristo;

¹⁴ That we may, no longer, be infantsbillow-tossed and shifted round with every wind of teaching,in the craft of men, in knavery suited to the artifice of error;

¹⁴ para que não sejamos mais crianças, atiradas para lá e para cá, e carregadas por todo vento de doutrina, pela artimanha e astúcia dos homens que ficam à espreita para enganar.

¹⁵ But, pursuing truthmay, in love, grow into him in all things,who is the head, Christ,

¹⁵ Antes, dizendo a verdade em amor, cresçamos em todas as coisas naquele que é a cabeça, Cristo,

¹⁶ Out of whom all the bodyfitly framing itself together, and connecting itself, through means of every joint of supply, by way of energising in the measure of each single partsecureth the growing of the body, unto an upbuilding of itself in love.

¹⁶ do qual todo o corpo, bem ajustado e compactado pelo auxílio de todas as juntas, segundo a eficaz operação de cada parte, faz o aumento do corpo, para sua edificação em amor.

¹⁷ This, therefore, am I saying and protesting in the Lord:that, no longer, ye walk even as, the nations, walkin the vanity of their minds,

¹⁷ E, portanto, digo isto e testifico no Senhor, para que não andeis mais como andam também os outros gentios, na vaidade da sua mente;

¹⁸ Being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of Godby reason of the ignorance that existeth within them, by reason of their hearts being turned into stone,

¹⁸ com seu entendimento obscurecido, separados da vida de Deus, pela ignorância que há neles, pela cegueira do seu coração,

¹⁹ Who, indeed, having become past feeling, have delivered, themselves, up, with wantonness, unto making a trade of all impurity with greed.

¹⁹ os quais, havendo perdido todo o sentimento, se entregaram à lascívia, para cometerem toda impureza com ganância.

²⁰ Ye, however, have, not thus, learned the Christ:

²⁰ Mas vós não aprendestes assim a Cristo;

²¹ If, at least, it is, him, ye have heard, and, in him, ye have been taughteven as truth is in Jesus,

²¹ se é que o tendes ouvido e por ele fostes ensinados, como a verdade está em Jesus,

²² That ye were to strip offas regardeth the former behaviourthe old man, who corrupteth himself according to his deceitful covetings,

²² que, concernente ao procedimento anterior, vos despojeis do velho homem, que é corrupto segundo as cobiças do engano;

²³ And were to be getting young again in the spirit of your mind,

²³ e vos renoveis no espírito da vossa mente;

²⁴ And were to put on the man of new mould, who, after God, hath been created in his truthful righteousness and loving kindness.

²⁴ e vos revistais do novo homem, que, segundo Deus, é criado em justiça e verdadeira santidade.

²⁵ Wherefore, stripping off what is false, be speaking truth each one with his neighbour, because we are members one of another;

²⁵ Por isso deixai a mentira e falai a verdade cada um com o seu próximo; porque somos membros uns dos outros.

²⁶ Be ye angry, and not committing sin, let not the sun be going down upon your angry mood,

²⁶ Irai-vos e não pequeis; não se ponha o sol sobre a vossa ira.

²⁷ Neither be giving place unto the adversary;

²⁷ Nem deis lugar ao diabo.

²⁸ Let, the stealer, no more, steal, but rather let him be toiling,working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have to be giving away to him that hath need;

²⁸ Aquele que furtava não furte mais; antes, trabalhe, fazendo com suas mãos aquilo que é bom, para que tenha o que dar ao que tiver necessidade.

²⁹ Let, no putrid discourse, out of your mouth, be going forth, but if anything is goodsuited to the needful upbuilding,that it may give benefit unto them that hear;

²⁹ Que nenhuma palavra imprópria proceda de vossa boca, mas aquilo que é bom para promover a edificação, para que ministre graça aos que a ouvem.

³⁰ And be not grieving the Holy Spirit of God, wherewith ye have been sealed unto a day of redemption;

³⁰ E não entristeçais o Espírito Santo de Deus, no qual estais selados para o dia da redenção.

³¹ All bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and outcry, and profane speaking, let it be taken away from you, with all baseness;

³¹ Toda amargura, e ira, e cólera, e tumulto, e blasfêmias, e toda a malícia seja tirada de entre vós.

³² And be ye gracious one to another, tenderly affectionate, in favour forgiving one anothereven as, God also, in Christ, hath in favour forgiven you;

³² E sede amáveis uns para com os outros, compassivos, perdoando-vos uns aos outros, como também Deus vos perdoou por causa de Cristo.
