Eclesiastes 3

1 For, every thing, there is a season,and a time for every pursuit, under the heavens:
1 Há um momento certo para tudo, um tempo para cada atividade debaixo do céu.
2 A time to be born, and a time to die,A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted;
2 Há tempo de nascer, e tempo de morrer; tempo de plantar, e tempo de colher.
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal,A time to break down, and a time to build up;
3 Tempo de matar, e tempo de curar; tempo de derrubar, e tempo de construir.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh,A time to wail, and a time to dance for joy;
4 Tempo de chorar, e tempo de rir; tempo de se entristecer, e tempo de dançar.
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to heap up stones,A time to embrace, and a time to be far from loving embrace;
5 Tempo de espalhar pedras, e tempo de ajuntá-las; tempo de abraçar, e tempo de se afastar.
6 A time to seek, and a time to give up as lost,A time to keep, and a time to cast away;
6 Tempo de procurar, e tempo de deixar de buscar; tempo de guardar, e tempo de jogar fora.
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew,A time to be silent, and a time to speak;
7 Tempo de rasgar, e tempo de remendar; tempo de calar, e tempo de falar.
8 A time to love and a time to hate,A time of war, and a time of peace.
8 Tempo de amar, e tempo de odiar; tempo de guerra, e tempo de paz.
9 What profit hath he that worketh, in that wherein, himself, hath toiled?
9 O que as pessoas ganham com tanto trabalho árduo?
10 I looked at the employment which God hath given to the sons of men, to work therein:
10 Vi o fardo que Deus pôs sobre toda a humanidade.
11 Everything, hath he made beautiful in its own time,also, intelligence, hath he put in their heart, without which men could not find out the work which God hath wrought, from the beginning even unto the end.
11 E, no entanto, Deus fez tudo apropriado para seu devido tempo. Ele colocou um senso de eternidade no coração humano, mas mesmo assim ninguém é capaz de entender toda a obra de Deus, do começo ao fim.
12 I know that there is no blessedness in them,save to be glad, and to do well with ones life.
12 Concluí, portanto, que a melhor coisa a fazer é ser feliz e desfrutar a vida enquanto é possível.
13 Though indeed, that any man should eat and drink, and see blessedness, in all his toil, it is, the gift of God.
13 Cada um deve comer e beber e desfrutar os frutos de seu trabalho, pois são presentes de Deus.
14 I know, that, whatsoever God doeth, the same, shall be age-abiding, unto it, there is nothing to add, and, from it, there is nothing to take away,and, God, hath done it, that men should stand in awe before him.
14 E sei que tudo que Deus faz é definitivo; não se pode acrescentar ou tirar nada. O propósito de Deus é que as pessoas o temam.
15 That which was, already, had been, and, that which shall be, already, shall have been,but, God, seeketh that which hath been chased away.
15 O que acontece agora já aconteceu antes, e o que acontecerá no futuro também já aconteceu, pois Deus faz as mesmas coisas acontecerem repetidamente.
16 Then, again, I saw under the sun, the place of justice, that there was lawlessness, and, the place of righteousness, that there was lawlessness.
16 Observei também que debaixo do sol há maldade onde deveria haver justiça. Sim, até os tribunais são corruptos.
17 Said, I, in my heart, Both the righteous and the lawless, will God judge,for a time for every pursuit, and concerning every workthere.
17 Disse a mim mesmo: “No devido tempo, Deus julgará tanto os justos como os perversos, por tudo que fizeram”.
18 Said, I, in my heart, as concerning the sons of men, That God was minded to prove them,and that they might see, that they were beasts, of themselves.
18 Também refleti sobre a condição humana, como Deus mostra às pessoas que elas não são melhores que os animais.
19 For, as regardeth the destiny of the sons of men and the destiny of beasts, one fate, have they, as dieth the one, so, dieth the other, and, one spirit, have they all,and, the pre-eminence of man over beast, is nothing, for, all, were vanity:
19 Pois tanto pessoas como animais têm o mesmo destino: ambos respiram e ambos morrem. As pessoas não têm vantagem alguma sobre os animais. Isso não faz o menor sentido!
20 all, go unto one place,all, came from the dust, and all, return to the dust.
20 Todos vão para o mesmo lugar: vieram do pó e a ele retornam.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of the sons of men, whether it, ascendeth, above,or the spirit of the beast, whether it, descendeth, below, to the earth?
21 Afinal, quem pode afirmar que o espírito dos seres humanos vai para cima e o espírito dos animais desce para a terra?
22 So I saw, that there was nothing better than that a man should be glad in his works, for, that, is his portion,for who can bring him in, to look upon that which shall be after him?
22 Vi, portanto, que a melhor coisa a fazer é alegrar-se com seu trabalho. É isso que nos cabe na vida. Ninguém nos trará de volta para ver o que acontece depois que morremos.
