1 This, then is the commandment the statutes and the regulations, which Yahweh your God bath commanded to teach you,that ye may do them in the land whither ye are passing over to possess it:
1 “Estes são os mandamentos, os decretos e os estatutos que o S enhor , seu Deus, me encarregou de lhes ensinar. Não deixem de cumpri-los na terra que em breve vocês possuirão.
2 that thou mayest revere Yahweh thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments which I am commanding thee, thou and thy son and thy sons son, all the days of thy life,and that thy days may be prolonged.
2 Vocês, seus filhos e netos temerão o S enhor , seu Deus, enquanto viverem. Se obedecerem a todos os seus decretos e mandamentos, desfrutarão de vida longa.
3 Therefore shalt thou hear, O Israel, and shalt observe to do, that it may be well with thee, and that ye may multiply greatly, as Yahweh the God of thy fathom hath spoken to thee, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
3 Ouça com atenção, Israel, e tenha o cuidado de obedecer. Então tudo irá bem com vocês e terão muitos filhos na terra que produz leite e mel com fartura, exatamente como lhes prometeu o S enhor , o Deus de seus antepassados.
4 Hear, O Israel: Yahweh, is our God,Yahweh alone.
4 “Ouça, ó Israel! O S enhor , nosso Deus, o S enhor é único!
5 Thou shalt therefore love Yahweh thy God,with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy might;
5 Ame o S enhor , seu Deus, de todo o seu coração, de toda a sua alma e de toda a sua força.
6 so shall these words which I am commanding thee to-day, be upon thy heart;
6 Guarde sempre no coração as palavras que hoje eu lhe dou.
7 and thou shalt impress them upon thy sons, and shalt speak of them,when thou sittest in thy house and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up;
7 Repita-as com frequência a seus filhos. Converse a respeito delas quando estiver em casa e quando estiver caminhando, quando se deitar e quando se levantar.
8 and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand,and they shall serve for bands between thine eyes;
8 Amarre-as às mãos e prenda-as à testa como lembrança.
9 and thou shalt write them upon the pests of thy house and within thy gates.
9 Escreva-as nos batentes das portas de sua casa e em seus portões.
10 So shall it be, when Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land, which he sware to thy fathersto Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob to give unto thee,into cities great and goodly, which thou didst not build;
10 “Em breve, o S enhor , seu Deus, os conduzirá à terra que ele jurou dar a seus antepassados Abraão, Isaque e Jacó. É uma terra com cidades grandes e prósperas que vocês não construíram.
11 and houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and hewn cisterns which thou hewedst not, vineyards and oliveyards which thou plantedst not,and shalt eat and be full,
11 As casas estarão cheias de bens que vocês não produziram. Vocês tirarão água de cisternas que não cavaram, e comerão os frutos de vinhedos e oliveiras que não plantaram. Quando tiverem comido até se fartarem nessa terra,
12 take heed unto thyself, lest thou forget Yahweh,who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants.
12 cuidem para não se esquecerem do S enhor , que os libertou da escravidão na terra do Egito.
13 Yahweh thy God, shalt thou revere And him, shalt thou serve,And by his name, shalt thou swear.
13 Temam o S enhor , seu Deus, e sirvam a ele. Quando fizerem um juramento, jurem somente pelo nome dele.
14 Ye shall not go after other gods,of the gods of the peoples who are surrounding you;
14 “Não sigam nenhum dos deuses das nações vizinhas,
15 for a jealous GOD, is Yahweh thy God in thy midst,lest the anger of Yahweh thy God kindle upon thee, and so he destroy thee from off the face of the ground.
15 pois o S enhor , seu Deus, que vive entre vocês, é Deus zeloso. Se o fizerem, a ira do S enhor , seu Deus, se acenderá contra vocês, e ele os eliminará da face da terra.
16 Ye shall not put Yahweh your God to the proof,as ye put him to the proof in Massah
16 Não ponham à prova o S enhor , seu Deus, como fizeram quando se queixaram em Massá.
17 Ye shall, keep, the commandments of Yahweh your God and his testimonies and his statutes which he hath commanded thee;
17 Obedeçam cuidadosamente aos mandamentos do S enhor , seu Deus, bem como a todos os preceitos e decretos que ele lhes ordenou.
18 so shalt thou do what is right and what is pleasing in the eyes of Yahweh,that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest enter in and possess the good land, which Yahweh sware unto thy fathers;
18 Façam o que é certo e bom aos olhos do S enhor , para que tudo vá bem com vocês e tomem posse da boa terra em que vão entrar, a terra que o S enhor prometeu sob juramento a seus antepassados.
19 to thrust out all thine enemies from before thee,As spake Yahweh.
19 Vocês expulsarão todos os inimigos que vivem nela, como o S enhor disse que fariam.
20 When thy son shall ask thee in time to come, saying,What mean the testimonies and the statutes and the regulations, which Yahweh our God commanded you?
20 “No futuro, seus filhos lhes perguntarão: ‘O que significam estes preceitos, decretos e estatutos que o S enhor , nosso Deus, lhes deu?’.
21 Then shalt thou say unto thy son, Servants, were we unto Pharaoh in Egypt,and Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt with a firm hand;
21 “Então vocês lhes dirão: ‘Éramos escravos do faraó no Egito, mas o S enhor nos tirou de lá com sua mão forte.
22 and Yahweh put forth signs and wonders great and sore upon Egypt upon Pharaoh and upon all his household before our eyes;
22 O S enhor realizou sinais e maravilhas diante de nossos olhos e enviou castigos terríveis sobre o Egito, o faraó e todo o seu povo.
23 but he brought us forth from thence,that he might bring us in, to give unto us the land, which he sware unto our fathers.
23 Ele nos tirou do Egito para nos dar esta terra que ele havia prometido sob juramento a nossos antepassados.
24 So then Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to revere Yahweh our God,for our good, all the days, to preserve us alive as at this day;
24 E o S enhor ordenou que cumpramos todos estes decretos e temamos o S enhor , nosso Deus, para que ele sempre nos abençoe e preserve nossa vida, como tem feito até hoje.
25 and righteousness, shall it he to us,when we take heed to do all this commandment, before Yahweh our God, as he commanded us.
25 Pois a nossa justiça estará em obedecermos cuidadosamente aos mandamentos que o S enhor , nosso Deus, nos ordenou’.”
