1 Here, My Lord, Yahweh gave me to see, and lo! he was preparing the locust, in the beginning of the shooting up of the after-grass,and lo! after-grass, cometh after the mowings for the king.
1 O Senhor Deus me mostrou numa visão o seguinte: eu vi Deus criar uma praga de gafanhotos. Isso aconteceu quando já começava a crescer o capim que brota depois da colheita que pertence ao rei.
2 And it came to pass, when they had made an end of eating the herbage of the land, that I saidOh, My Lord, Yahweh, forgive, I beseech thee: By whom shall Jacob, arise? for, small, he is.
2 Quando os gafanhotos acabaram de comer todas as plantas, eu disse a Deus, o Senhor : — Eu te peço, ó Deus, que nos perdoes. O teu povo é fraco; como poderemos resistir?
3 Grieved was Yahweh, over this,It shall not be, said Yahweh?
3 Então ele mudou de ideia e respondeu: — O que você viu não acontecerá.
4 Here, My Lord, Yahweh gave me to see, and lo! My Lord Yahweh proclaiming that, the controversy should be settled by fire,which, having devoured the mighty roaring deep, should devour the inheritance.
4 O Senhor Deus me mostrou numa visão outra coisa: eu vi que ele estava pronto para castigar o seu povo com fogo. O fogo secou o grande mar que fica debaixo da terra e estava acabando com as plantações.
5 Then said I, My Lord, Yahweh, forbear, I beseech thee, By whom shall Jacob, arise? for, small, he is.
5 Aí eu disse a Deus, o Senhor : — Ó Deus, para! O teu povo é fraco; como poderemos resistir?
6 Grieved was Yahweh, over this,Even this, shall not be, said My Lord, Yahweh.
6 Então ele mudou de ideia e respondeu: — Isso também não acontecerá.
7 Here, he gave me to see, and lo! My Lord, stationed upon a pinnacle,and, in his hand a plummet.
7 O Senhor me mostrou numa visão isto também: ele estava perto de um muro construído direito, a prumo, e tinha um prumo na mão.
8 And Yahweh said unto me, What canst thou see, Amos? And I said, A plummet,Then said My Lord, Behold me! fixing a plummet in the midst of my people Israel, I will not again any more forgive him.
8 Ele me perguntou: — Amós, o que é que você está vendo? — Um prumo! — respondi. Então ele me disse: — Eu vou mostrar que o meu povo não anda direito: é como um muro torto, construído fora de prumo. E nunca mais vou perdoar o meu povo.
9 So shall the high places of Isaac, be made desolate, and, the holy places of Israel, be laid waste,and I will rise up, against the house of Jeroboam, with the sword.
9 Todos os templos e os outros lugares de adoração da terra de Israel serão destruídos, e eu vou acabar com o rei Jeroboão e com os seus descendentes.
10 Then sent Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, unto Jeroboam king of Israel, saying: A conspiracy hath Amos, raised against thee, in the midst of the house of Israel, The land, is not able to endure, all his words;
10 Amazias, o sacerdote de Betel, mandou o seguinte recado a Jeroboão, o rei de Israel: — Amós está planejando uma revolta contra o senhor no meio do povo. O que ele está dizendo põe o país em perigo.
11 For, thus, saith Amos, By the sword, shall Jeroboam, die,and, Israel, shall, surely be exiled, from off his own soil.
11 Ele anda falando assim: “Jeroboão morrerá numa guerra, e o povo de Israel será levado como prisioneiro para fora do seu país.”
12 Then said Amaziah unto Amos, O seer, go flee thee away unto the land o Judahand eat, there, bread, and, there, mayest thou prophesy;
12 Depois Amazias disse a Amós: — Fora daqui, seu
13 But, at Bethel, not again, any more, mayest thou prophesy,for, the holy place of the king, it is, and, the house of the kingdom, it is.
13 Pare de profetizar aqui em Betel, pois este é o santuário onde o rei adora, este é o templo principal do país.
14 Then answered Amos, and said unto Amaziah, No prophet, was I,nor the son of a prophet, was I,but, a herdman, was I, and a preparer of sycamore fruit;
14 Amós respondeu: — Não sou profeta por profissão; não ganho a vida profetizando. Sou pastor de ovelhas e também cuido de figueiras.
15 But Yahweh, took me away, from following the flock,and Yahweh, said unto me, Go prophesy against my people Israel.
15 Mas o Senhor Deus mandou que eu deixasse os meus rebanhos e viesse anunciar a sua mensagem ao povo de Israel.
16 Now, therefore, hear thou the word of Yahweh,Thou art saying, Thou must not prophesy concerning Israel, nor let thy word drop down upon the house of Isaac.
16 Portanto, escute a mensagem de Deus, o Senhor . Você, Amazias, diz que eu não devo continuar profetizando contra o povo de Israel.
17 ThereforeThus, saith Yahweh, Thy wife, in the city, will commit unchastity, and, thy sons and thy daughters, by the sword, shall fall, and, thine own soil, by line, shall he apportioned,and, thou, on a polluted soil, shalt die, and, Israel, shall, surely go into exile, away front his own soil.
17 Mas o Senhor diz a você: “A sua mulher virará prostituta aqui na cidade, e os seus filhos e as suas filhas morrerão na guerra. O seu país será dividido entre outros países, e você morrerá numa terra pagã. E o povo de Israel vai ser levado como prisioneiro para fora da sua terra.”
