1 "THE kingdom of heaven is like a man who was a householder, who went out in the early morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.
1 Porque o reino do céu é semelhante a um homem que é um chefe de família, que saiu de manhã cedo para contratar trabalhadores para a sua vinha.
2 After agreeing with the laborers for a shilling a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
2 E, tendo acordado com os trabalhadores um denário por dia, mandou-os para a sua vinha.
3 He went out about nine o'clock and saw others standing in the market-place idle
3 E ele saindo perto da hora terceira, viu outros que estavam ociosos no mercado,
4 and said to them, 'You too go into my vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.
4 e disse-lhes: Ide vós também para a vinha, e dar-vos-ei o que for justo. E eles foram pelo caminho.
5 Again he went out about noon and about three o'clock and did the same.
5 Ele saindo outra vez, cerca da hora sexta e da nona, fez da mesma forma.
6 About five o'clock he went out and found others standing and said to them, 'Why have you been standing the whole day idle?'
6 E, ele saindo cerca da hora undécima, encontrou outros que estavam ociosos, e disse-lhes: Por que estais ociosos todo o dia?
7 They said, 'Because no one has hired us.' He said to them, 'You go too into my vineyard.'
7 Eles disseram-lhe: Porque nenhum homem nos contratou. Ele disse-lhes: Ide vós também para a vinha, e tudo quanto for justo, vós recebereis.
8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, 'Call the laborers and pay their hire, beginning with the last and going on to the first.'
8 Assim, vindo a tarde, o senhor da vinha disse ao seu mordomo: Chama os trabalhadores, e paga-lhes o salário, começando pelos últimos até aos primeiros.
9 When those who were hired about five o'clock came, they received a shilling apiece,
9 E, vindo os que foram cerca da hora undécima, receberam cada homem um denário.
10 and when those who were hired first came, they thought that they would get more. But they too received a shilling apiece.
10 Vindo, então, os primeiros, eles pensaram que haviam de receber mais; mas do mesmo modo recebeu cada homem um denário.
11 When they received it, they grumbled at the householder
11 E, recebendo-o, murmuravam contra o dono da casa,
12 and said, 'These last worked one hour and you have made them equal to us who bore the burden of the day and the heat.'
12 dizendo: Estes últimos trabalharam somente uma hora, e os fizestes iguais a nós, que suportamos o fardo e o calor do dia.
13 But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am not wronging you. Did you not agree with me for a shilling?
13 Mas ele, respondendo, disse a um deles: Amigo, eu não te faço injustiça; tu não combinastes comigo um denário?
14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last man the same as to you.
14 Toma o que é teu, e vai-te pelo caminho; eu quero dar a este último tanto como a ti.
15 Have I not the right to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil because I am good?'
15 Não me é lícito fazer o que eu quero do que é meu? Ou é mau o teu olho porque eu sou bom?
16 So the last will be first and the first last."
16 Assim os últimos serão os primeiros, e os primeiros os últimos; porque muitos são chamados, mas poucos os escolhidos.
17 As Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve aside on the road and said to them,
17 E, subindo Jesus para Jerusalém, tomou à parte os seus doze discípulos no caminho, e disse-lhes:
18 "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the high priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death
18 Eis que nós subimos para Jerusalém, e o Filho do homem será traído aos principais sacerdotes e aos escribas, e eles o condenarão à morte,
19 and will deliver him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify, and on the third day he will be raised."
19 e o entregarão aos gentios para que dele zombem, e o açoitem e crucifiquem, e ao terceiro dia ele ressuscitará.
20 Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing down to him and making a request of him.
20 Então se aproximou dele a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu, com seus filhos, adorando-o, e desejando uma certa coisa.
21 He said to her, "What do you wish?" She said to him, "Give the command for these two sons of mine to sit one on your right and one on your left in your kingdom."
21 E ele disse para ela: O que tu queres? Ela disse: Concede que estes meus dois filhos se assentem, um à tua direita e outro à tua esquerda, no teu reino.
22 Jesus answered, "You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?" They said to him, 'We can?'
22 Mas Jesus respondendo disse: Não sabeis o que pedis. Podeis vós beber o cálice que eu hei de beber, e ser batizados com o batismo com que eu sou batizado? Dizem-lhe eles: Nós podemos.
23 He said to them, "My cup you will drink, but seats on my right and on my left are not mine to give. They will be given to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father."
23 E diz-lhes ele: Na verdade bebereis o meu cálice e sereis batizados com o batismo com que eu sou batizado, mas o assentar-se à minha direita ou à minha esquerda não me pertence dá-lo, mas o será dado àqueles para quem meu Pai o tem preparado.
24 When the ten heard of this, they were indignant at the two brothers.
24 E, quando os dez ouviram isso, indignaram-se contra os dois irmãos.
25 But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them and their great ones wield power over them.
25 Mas Jesus chamando-os, disse: Sabeis que os príncipes dos gentios exercem domínio sobre eles, e os seus grandes exercem autoridade sobre eles.
26 It is not so among you. But whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant,
26 Mas não será assim entre vós; mas quem dentre vós deseja ser grande, seja o vosso servidor;
27 and whoever wants to be first among you will be your slave;
27 e, quem deseja ser o primeiro, seja o vosso servo.
28 just as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many."
28 Assim como o Filho do homem não veio para ser servido, mas para servir, e para dar a sua vida em resgate de muitos.
29 As they were leaving Jericho, a great crowd followed him.
29 E, partindo eles de Jericó, uma grande multidão o seguia.
30 Two blind men were sitting at the side of the road, and when they heard that Jesus was passing, they cried out, "Sir, have pity on us, Son of David!"
30 E eis que dois homens cegos, assentados junto do caminho, ouvindo que Jesus passava, clamaram, dizendo: Tem misericórdia de nós, ó Senhor, Filho de Davi!
31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be silent. But all the more they cried, "Sir, have pity on us, Son of David!"
31 E a multidão os repreendia, para que se calassem; mas eles gritavam ainda mais, dizendo: Tem misericórdia de nós, ó Senhor, Filho de Davi.
32 Jesus stopped and called them and said, "What do you want me to do for you?"
32 E Jesus, parando, chamou-os, e disse: O que quereis que eu vos faça?
33 They said, "We want our eyes opened."
33 Disseram-lhe eles: Senhor, que os nossos olhos possam ser abertos.
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes, and at once they regained sight and followed him.
34 Então Jesus teve compaixão deles, e tocou seus olhos; e imediatamente seus olhos receberam visão, e eles o seguiram.
