1 Then some Scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying,
1 Então escribas e fariseus vindos de Jerusalém chegaram a Jesus e lhe perguntaram:
2 "Why do your disciples keep transgressing the tradition of the elders by not washing their hands before eating?"
2 Por que os teus discípulos transgridem a tradição dos anciãos? Pois eles não lavam as mãos quando comem pão.
3 "And why do you also keep transgressing the command of God by your tradition?" he asked.
3 Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: Por que também vós transgredis o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição?
4 "For God said, Honor your father and mother, and, Let him who reviles father or mother be put to death;
4 Porque Deus ordenou, dizendo: Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe; e: Quem amaldiçoar o pai ou a mãe, deixe ele morrer de morte.
5 but you say that whoever tells his father or mother, Whatever of mine might have been of service to you is dedicated to God,
5 Mas vós dizeis: Qualquer que disser a seu pai ou a sua mãe: Isto é uma oferta, tudo quanto puder ser aproveitado de mim;
6 is in no way bound to honor his father. Thus do you make void the word of God by your tradition!
6 e não honrar a seu pai nem a sua mãe, esse estará livre. Assim invalidastes o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição.
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy concerning you, saying.
7 Hipócritas, bem profetizou Isaías a vosso respeito, dizendo:
8 This is a people that honors me with their lips, But their heart is far from me.
8 Este povo se aproxima de mim com a sua boca, e me honra com os seus lábios, mas o seu coração está longe de mim.
9 In vain do they worship me, While they teach doctrines that are the commands of men."
9 Mas, em vão eles me adoram, ensinando como doutrinas os mandamentos dos homens.
10 Then Jesus called the people to him and said.
10 E, ele chamando a multidão, disse-lhes: Ouvi, e compreendei:
11 "Listen, and pay attention. It is not what goes into a mans mouth that defiles him, but what comes out of it, that defiles the man."
11 Não é o que entra pela boca que contamina o homem, mas o que procede da boca, isso é o que contamina o homem.
12 Then his disciples came to him and said, "Do you know that the Pharisees were scandalized when they heard that saying?" He replied.
12 Então, chegando-se a ele os seus discípulos, disseram-lhe: Tu sabes que os fariseus se ofenderam ouvindo esse provérbio?
13 "Any plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.
13 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Toda a planta que meu Pai celeste não plantou, será arrancada.
14 "Let them alone. They are blind men leading the blind; and if one blind man leads another, both of them will fall into a ditch."
14 Deixai-os sozinhos; eles são cegos condutores de cegos. E se um cego conduzir outro cego, ambos cairão na cova.
15 Then Peter said to Jesus, "Explain the parable to us."
15 Então Pedro respondeu, e disse-lhe: Declara-nos esta parábola.
16 He answered. "Are even you still without understanding?
16 E Jesus disse: Estais vós também ainda sem compreender?
17 "Do you not know how all that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is afterward evacuated;
17 Ainda não compreendeis que tudo o que entra pela boca vai para o ventre, e é lançado fora?
18 while what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart - and that is what defiles a man.
18 Mas, estas coisas que saem da boca vêm do coração, e elas contaminam o homem.
19 For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murder, adultery, unchastity, theft, perjury, slander.
19 Porque do coração procedem os maus pensamentos, assassinatos, adultérios, fornicação, furtos, falsos testemunhos e blasfêmias.
20 These are the things that defile a man; to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."
20 São essas coisas que contaminam o homem; mas comer sem lavar as mãos não contamina o homem.
21 Jesus then left that place, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.
21 E, partindo Jesus dali, foi para as regiões de Tiro e Sidom.
22 Behold, there came to him a Canaanite woman of those parts. She wailed loudly, saying. "Pity me, Lord, thou Son of David! My daughter is possessed of an evil spirit."
22 E, eis que uma mulher cananeia, vindo daquelas regiões, gritou para ele, dizendo: Tenha misericórdia de mim, ó Senhor, Filho de Davi; minha filha está severamente atormentada por um demônio.
23 But he answered her not a word. Then the disciples came up and kept beseeching him. "Send her away," they said, "because she wails after us."
23 Mas ele não lhe respondeu uma palavra. E, vindo a ele os seus discípulos, pediram-lhe, dizendo: Manda-a embora, porque está gritando atrás de nós.
24 In reply he said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
24 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Eu não fui enviado senão às ovelhas perdidas da casa de Israel.
25 But the woman came and knelt to him and said, "Lord, do help me."
25 Então veio ela e, adorando-o, disse: Senhor, socorre-me!
26 He answered, "It is not seemly to take the childrens bread and throw it to the little dogs."
26 Ele, porém, respondeu: Não é bom tomar o pão dos filhos e lançá-lo aos cães.
27 "True, Lord," she said, "but even the little dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters table."
27 E ela disse: Verdade, Senhor; ainda assim, os cães comem das migalhas que caem da mesa dos seus senhores.
28 Then Jesus answered her. "O woman, great is your faith. It shall be for you even as you desire." And from that hour her daughter was healed.
28 Então, respondendo Jesus, disse-lhe: Ó mulher, grande é a tua fé! Seja isto assim como tu desejas. E sua filha ficou sã naquela mesma hora.
29 On leaving that place Jesus went along the shore of the Sea of Galilee; and after climbing a hill, took his seat there.
29 Partindo Jesus dali, aproximou-se do mar da Galileia, e, subindo a um monte, sentou-se ali.
30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the crippled, the blind, the maimed, the dumb, and many others. They laid them at his feet and he healed them;
30 E grandes multidões vieram a ele, trazendo aqueles que eram coxos, cegos, mudos, aleijados, e muitos outros, e os puseram aos pés de Jesus, e ele os curou.
31 so that the crowd wondered when they saw the dumb speaking, the cripples walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel.
31 De modo que a multidão se maravilhou ao ver os mudos falando, os aleijados curados, os coxos andando, e os cegos vendo; e glorificaram ao Deus de Israel.
32 But Jesus called his disciples to him and said. "My heart yearns over the crowd, for they have been with me now three days, and they have nothing to eat. I am not willing to send them away hungry, for fear they faint on the road."
32 Então Jesus, chamando os seus discípulos, disse: Eu tenho compaixão da multidão, porque eles continuam comigo há três dias, e não tem o que comer; e eu não quero despedi-los em jejum, para que não desfaleçam no caminho.
33 "In a lonely place like this," asked the disciple. "where can we get bread enough to satisfy such a crowd?"
33 E os seus discípulos disseram-lhe: De onde encontraremos, aqui no deserto, tantos pães para saciar tão grande multidão?
34 "How many loaves have you?" answered Jesus. They replied, "Seven, and a few small fish.
34 E Jesus disse-lhes: Quantos pães vocês têm? E eles disseram: Sete, e alguns pequenos peixes.
35 So when he had summoned the crowd, and seated them upon the ground,
35 Então ele ordenou à multidão para que se assentasse no chão.
36 he took the seven loaves and the fish, and gave thanks, then he broke them and gave them to his disciples, and the disciples to the crowd.
36 E ele, tomando os sete pães e os peixes, e dando graças, partiu-os, e deu-os aos seus discípulos, e os discípulos à multidão.
37 And all ate and were satisfied, and of the fragments that remained they gathered seven large basketfuls.
37 E todos eles comeram e se satisfizeram; e juntaram as sobras de pedaços, e encheram sete cestos.
38 And those who ate numbered four thousand, besides the women and children.
38 Ora, os que tinham comido eram quatro mil homens, além das mulheres e crianças.
39 When he had sent the crowds away, he got into the boat and came into the region of Magadan.
39 E, despedindo a multidão, tomou o barco, e foi para a região de Magdala.
