1 The ordering of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, [is] from the LORD.
1 Cabe ao homem formular projetos em seu coração, mas do Senhor vem a resposta da língua.
2 All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits.
2 Todos os caminhos parecem puros ao homem, mas o Senhor é quem pesa os corações.
3 Roll your works upon the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.
3 Confia teus negócios ao Senhor e teus planos terão bom êxito.
4 The LORD has made all for His purpose; yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
4 Tudo fez o Senhor para seu fim, até o ímpio para o dia da desgraça.
5 Everyone proud in heart [is] hateful to the LORD; though hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
5 Todo coração altivo é abominação ao Senhor: certamente não ficará impune.
6 By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD [men] turn away from evil.
6 É pela bondade e pela verdade que se expia a iniqüidade; pelo temor do Senhor evita-se o mal.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
7 Quando agradam ao Senhor os caminhos de um homem, reconcilia com ele seus próprios inimigos.
8 Better [is] a little with righteousness than great gain without right.
8 Mais vale o pouco com justiça do que grandes lucros com iniqüidade.
9 A man's heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
9 O coração do homem dispõe o seu caminho, mas é o Senhor que dirige seus passos.
10 A divine sentence [is] in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.
10 As palavras do rei são como oráculos: quando ele julga, sua boca não erra.
11 A just weight and balance [are] the LORD's; all the weights of the bag [are] His work.
11 Balança e peso justos são do Senhor, e são obra sua todos os pesos da bolsa.
12 [It is] a hateful thing for kings to commit wickedness; for the throne [is] established by righteousness.
12 Fazer o mal, para um rei, é coisa abominável, porque pela justiça firma-se o trono.
13 Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings, and they love him who speaks right.
13 Os lábios justos são agradáveis ao rei; ele ama o que fala com retidão.
14 The wrath of a king [is as] messengers of death, but a wise man will quiet it.
14 A indignação do rei é prenúncio de morte, só o sábio sabe aplacá-la.
15 In the light of the king's face [is] life, and his favor [is] like a cloud of the latter rain.
15 Na serenidade do semblante do rei está a vida: sua clemência é como uma chuva de primavera.
16 How much better [it is] to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver!
16 Adquirir a sabedoria vale mais que o ouro; antes adquirir a inteligência que a prata.
17 The way of the upright [is] to turn away from evil; he who keeps his way guards his way.
17 O caminho dos corretos consiste em evitar o mal; o que vigia seu procedimento conserva sua vida.
18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
18 A soberba precede à ruína; e o orgulho, à queda.
19 [It is] better [to be] of an humble spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.
19 Mais vale ser modesto com os humildes que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.
20 He who handles a matter wisely shall find good, and whoever trusts in the LORD, happy [is] he.
20 Quem ouve a palavra com atenção encontra a felicidade; ditoso quem confia no Senhor.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent, and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.
21 Inteligente é o que possui o coração sábio; a doçura da linguagem aumenta o saber.
22 Understanding [is] a fountain of life to him who has it, but the instruction of fools [is] folly.
22 A inteligência é fonte de vida para quem a possui; o castigo dos insensatos é a loucura.
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
23 O coração do sábio torna sua boca instruída, e acrescenta-lhes aos lábios o saber.
24 Pleasant words [are like] a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
24 As palavras agradáveis são como um favo de mel; doçura para a alma e saúde para os ossos.
25 There is a way [that seems] right to a man, but the end of it [is] the ways of death.
25 Há caminhos que parecem retos ao homem e, contudo, o seu termo é a morte.
26 He who labors works for himself, for his mouth craves it from him.
26 A fome do trabalhador trabalha por ele, porque sua boca o constrange a isso.
27 An ungodly man plots evil, and his lips [are] like a burning fire.
27 O perverso cava o mal, há em seus lábios como que fogo devorador.
28 A perverse man causes fighting, and a whisperer separates chief friends.
28 O perverso excita questões, o detrator separa os amigos.
29 A violent man lures his neighbor and makes him go in a way not good.
29 O violento seduz seu próximo e o arrasta pelo mau caminho.
30 He shuts his eyes to think of perverse things; moving his lips, he brings evil to pass.
30 Quem fecha os olhos e planeja intriga, ao morder os lábios, já praticou o mal.
31 The gray head [is] a crown of glory, [if] it is found in the way of righteousness.
31 Os cabelos brancos são uma coroa de glória a quem se encontra no caminho da justiça.
32 He who is slow to anger [is] better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit is better than he who takes a city.
32 Mais vale a paciência que o heroísmo, mais vale quem domina o coração do que aquele que conquista uma cidade.
33 The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing of it [is] from the LORD.
33 As sortes lançam-se nas dobras do manto, mas do Senhor depende toda a decisão.
