1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
1 Junto aos rios da Babilônia nos assentamos e choramos, lembrando-nos de Sião.
2 We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof;
2 Nos salgueiros, que há no meio dela, penduramos as nossas harpas.
3 when there, those that carried us away captive asked us for the words of the song; [with] our harps of joy [hung upon the willows saying], Sing us [one] of the songs of Zion.
3 Porquanto aqueles que nos levaram cativos nos pediam uma canção; e os que nos destruíram, que os alegrássemos, dizendo: Cantai-nos um dos cânticos de Sião.
4 How shall we sing the song of the LORD in [the] land of strangers?
4 Mas como entoaremos o cântico do Senhor em terra estranha?
5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, my right hand shall be forgotten.
5 Se eu me esquecer de ti, ó Jerusalém, esqueça-se a minha destra da sua destreza.
6 If I do not remember thee, my tongue shall cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not prefer to lift up Jerusalem as my chief joy.
6 Apegue-se-me a língua ao paladar se me não lembrar de ti, se não preferir Jerusalém à minha maior alegria.
7 Remember, O LORD, the sons of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase [it], rase [it], [even] to the foundation thereof.
7 Lembra-te, Senhor , dos filhos de Edom no dia de Jerusalém, porque diziam: Arrasai-a, arrasai-a, até aos seus alicerces.
8 O daughter of Babylon, [who art to be] destroyed; happy [shall he be], that rewards thee as thou hast served us.
8 Ah! Filha da Babilônia, que vais ser assolada! Feliz aquele que te retribuir consoante nos fizeste a nós!
9 Happy [shall he be], that takes and dashes thy offspring against the stones.:
9 Feliz aquele que pegar em teus filhos e der com eles nas pedras!
