1 Then certain scribes and Pharisees of Jerusalem came unto Jesus, saying,
1 Então escribas e fariseus vindos de Jerusalém chegaram a Jesus e lhe perguntaram:
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.
2 Por que os teus discípulos transgridem a tradição dos anciãos? Pois eles não lavam as mãos quando comem pão.
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
3 Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: Por que também vós transgredis o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother, and, He that curses father or mother, let him die without recourse.
4 Porque Deus ordenou, dizendo: Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe; e: Quem amaldiçoar o pai ou a mãe, deixe ele morrer de morte.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to [his] father or [his] mother, Whatever I might have helped thee with is already my offering [unto God],
5 Mas vós dizeis: Qualquer que disser a seu pai ou a sua mãe: Isto é uma oferta, tudo quanto puder ser aproveitado de mim;
6 and [now] has no need to honour his father or his mother [with succour]. Thus ye have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.
6 e não honrar a seu pai nem a sua mãe, esse estará livre. Assim invalidastes o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição.
7 [Ye] hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
7 Hipócritas, bem profetizou Isaías a vosso respeito, dizendo:
8 This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth and honours me with [their] lips, but their heart is far from me.
8 Este povo se aproxima de mim com a sua boca, e me honra com os seus lábios, mas o seu coração está longe de mim.
9 But in vain do they worship me, teaching doctrines and commandments of men.
9 Mas, em vão eles me adoram, ensinando como doutrinas os mandamentos dos homens.
10 And calling the multitude unto him, he said unto them, Hear and understand:
10 E, ele chamando a multidão, disse-lhes: Ouvi, e compreendei:
11 not that which goes into the mouth defiles the man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles the man.
11 Não é o que entra pela boca que contamina o homem, mas o que procede da boca, isso é o que contamina o homem.
12 Then his disciples came and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this word?
12 Então, chegando-se a ele os seus discípulos, disseram-lhe: Tu sabes que os fariseus se ofenderam ouvindo esse provérbio?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted shall be rooted up.
13 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Toda a planta que meu Pai celeste não plantou, será arrancada.
14 Let them alone; they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a pit.
14 Deixai-os sozinhos; eles são cegos condutores de cegos. E se um cego conduzir outro cego, ambos cairão na cova.
15 Then Peter answered and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
15 Então Pedro respondeu, e disse-lhe: Declara-nos esta parábola.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
16 E Jesus disse: Estais vós também ainda sem compreender?
17 Do not ye yet understand that whatever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly and is cast out into the draught?
17 Ainda não compreendeis que tudo o que entra pela boca vai para o ventre, e é lançado fora?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man.
18 Mas, estas coisas que saem da boca vêm do coração, e elas contaminam o homem.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
19 Porque do coração procedem os maus pensamentos, assassinatos, adultérios, fornicação, furtos, falsos testemunhos e blasfêmias.
20 these are [the things] which defile the man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.
20 São essas coisas que contaminam o homem; mas comer sem lavar as mãos não contamina o homem.
21 Then Jesus left there and departed into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.
21 E, partindo Jesus dali, foi para as regiões de Tiro e Sidom.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan having come out of the same borders cried unto him, saying, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me; my daughter is sick, possessed by a demon.
22 E, eis que uma mulher cananeia, vindo daquelas regiões, gritou para ele, dizendo: Tenha misericórdia de mim, ó Senhor, Filho de Davi; minha filha está severamente atormentada por um demônio.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away, for she cries [out] after us.
23 Mas ele não lhe respondeu uma palavra. E, vindo a ele os seus discípulos, pediram-lhe, dizendo: Manda-a embora, porque está gritando atrás de nós.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
24 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Eu não fui enviado senão às ovelhas perdidas da casa de Israel.
25 Then she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
25 Então veio ela e, adorando-o, disse: Senhor, socorre-me!
26 But he answered and said, It is not good to take the children's bread and to cast [it] to the little dogs.
26 Ele, porém, respondeu: Não é bom tomar o pão dos filhos e lançá-lo aos cães.
27 And she said, Yes, Lord, yet the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
27 E ela disse: Verdade, Senhor; ainda assim, os cães comem das migalhas que caem da mesa dos seus senhores.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith; be it unto thee even as thou desire. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
28 Então, respondendo Jesus, disse-lhe: Ó mulher, grande é a tua fé! Seja isto assim como tu desejas. E sua filha ficou sã naquela mesma hora.
29 And Jesus left there and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee and went up into the mountain and sat down there.
29 Partindo Jesus dali, aproximou-se do mar da Galileia, e, subindo a um monte, sentou-se ali.
30 And many people came unto him, having with them [those that were] lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many other sick and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them,
30 E grandes multidões vieram a ele, trazendo aqueles que eram coxos, cegos, mudos, aleijados, e muitos outros, e os puseram aos pés de Jesus, e ele os curou.
31 insomuch that the multitude wondered when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see, and they glorified the God of Israel.
31 De modo que a multidão se maravilhou ao ver os mudos falando, os aleijados curados, os coxos andando, e os cegos vendo; e glorificaram ao Deus de Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples [unto him] and said, I have mercy on the multitude because they persevere with me now three days and have nothing to eat, and I desire not to send them away fasting lest they faint in the way.
32 Então Jesus, chamando os seus discípulos, disse: Eu tenho compaixão da multidão, porque eles continuam comigo há três dias, e não tem o que comer; e eu não quero despedi-los em jejum, para que não desfaleçam no caminho.
33 Then his disciples say unto him, From where [do] we have so much bread in the wilderness as to satisfy so great a multitude?
33 E os seus discípulos disseram-lhe: De onde encontraremos, aqui no deserto, tantos pães para saciar tão grande multidão?
34 And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven and a few little fishes.
34 E Jesus disse-lhes: Quantos pães vocês têm? E eles disseram: Sete, e alguns pequenos peixes.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
35 Então ele ordenou à multidão para que se assentasse no chão.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes and gave thanks and broke [them] and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
36 E ele, tomando os sete pães e os peixes, e dando graças, partiu-os, e deu-os aos seus discípulos, e os discípulos à multidão.
37 And they all ate and were filled, and they took up of the broken [food] that was left seven baskets full.
37 E todos eles comeram e se satisfizeram; e juntaram as sobras de pedaços, e encheram sete cestos.
38 And those that ate were four thousand men besides women and children.
38 Ora, os que tinham comido eram quatro mil homens, além das mulheres e crianças.
39 And he sent away the multitude and took ship and came into the borders of Magdala.:
39 E, despedindo a multidão, tomou o barco, e foi para a região de Magdala.
