1 Then Job answered and said,
1 Porém em resposta Jó disse:
2 Today I will also speak with bitterness; my stroke is heavier than my groaning.
2 “Eu ainda estou revoltado e me queixo de Deus; não posso parar de gemer.
3 Oh, that I knew where I might find him! [That] I might come [even] to his seat!
3 Gostaria de saber onde encontrá-lo; gostaria de ir até o lugar onde ele está,
4 I would order judgment before him and fill my mouth with arguments.
4 para levar a ele a minha causa e apresentar todas as razões que tenho a meu favor.
5 I would know the words [which] he would answer me and understand what he would say unto me.
5 Gostaria de saber o que ele me diria e como me responderia.
6 Will he plead against me with [his] great power? No, but rather he would put it in me.
6 Será que Deus usaria todo o seu poder contra mim? Não! Estou certo de que ele me ouviria.
7 There the righteous might dispute with him; and should I escape for ever from the one who condemns me.
7 Sou um homem honesto. Eu poderia apresentar a minha causa a ele, e de uma vez por todas ele me declararia inocente.
8 Behold, I shall go to the east and not find him; and to the west, but I cannot perceive him;
8 “Eu procuro no Leste, mas Deus não está ali; e não o encontro no Oeste.
9 if he is working to the north, I shall not see him; to the south, he hides himself, that I shall not see [him].
9 E também não o vejo quando age no Norte ou se esconde no Sul.
10 But he has known the way that I take; he has tried me, and I have come forth as gold.
10 Mas Deus conhece cada um dos meus passos; se ele me puser à prova, verá que sairei puro como o ouro.
11 My feet have held to his steps, I have kept his way, and have not departed.
11 Eu sigo o caminho que ele me mostra e nunca me desvio para lado nenhum.
12 Neither have I separated myself from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary [food].
12 Obedeço aos mandamentos de Deus; sempre faço a sua vontade e não a minha.
13 But if he determines something, who can turn him? His soul desired [it], and he did [it].
13 “Deus faz o que quer; quando ele decide fazer alguma coisa, ninguém pode impedir.
14 Therefore, he will finish that which is necessary for me; and [there are] many such things in him.
14 Ele levará até o fim o que planejou fazer comigo e também realizará todos os seus outros planos.
15 Therefore, I shall fear before his face; I shall consider, and I shall fear him.
15 Por isso, eu perco a coragem na presença dele e, quando penso nisso, fico apavorado. mas é o Deus Todo-Poderoso quem me põe medo, e não a escuridão.
16 For God has made my heart tender, and the Almighty has frightened me.

17 Why was I not cut off before the darkness, [neither] has he covered my face with the darkness.:
