1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men,
1 Admoesto-te, pois, antes de tudo, que se façam deprecações, orações, intercessões e ações de graças por todos os homens,
2 for kings, and [for] all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and integrity.
2 pelos reis e por todos os que estão em eminência, para que tenhamos uma vida quieta e sossegada, em toda a piedade e honestidade.
3 For this [is] good and pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,
3 Porque isto é bom e agradável diante de Deus, nosso Salvador,
4 who desires that all men be saved and come unto the knowledge of the truth.
4 que quer que todos os homens se salvem e venham ao conhecimento da verdade.
5 For [there is only] one God and likewise [only] one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
5 Porque há um só Deus e um só mediador entre Deus e os homens, Jesus Cristo, homem,
6 who gave himself in ransom for all, the testimony of which [was confirmed] at the time,
6 o qual se deu a si mesmo em preço de redenção por todos, para servir de testemunho a seu tempo.
7 of which I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ [and] do not lie), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
7 Para o que (digo a verdade em Cristo, não minto) fui constituído pregador, e apóstolo, e doutor dos gentios, na fé e na verdade.
8 I desire, therefore, that the men in every place, pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and strife.
8 Quero, pois, que os homens orem em todo o lugar, levantando mãos santas, sem ira nem contenda.
9 In like manner also that the women adorn themselves in an honest manner, with shyness and modesty, not with ostentatious hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing
9 Que do mesmo modo as mulheres se ataviem em traje honesto, com pudor e modéstia, não com tranças, ou com ouro, ou pérolas, ou vestidos preciosos,
10 but with good works (as becomes women professing godliness).
10 mas (como convém a mulheres que fazem profissão de servir a Deus) com boas obras.
11 Let the woman learn, becoming silent in all subjection.
11 A mulher aprenda em silêncio, com toda a sujeição.
12 For I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a [mature] man, but to be at rest.
12 Não permito, porém, que a mulher ensine, nem use de autoridade sobre o marido, mas que esteja em silêncio.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve.
13 Porque primeiro foi formado Adão, depois Eva.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived in the rebellion;
14 E Adão não foi enganado, mas a mulher, sendo enganada, caiu em transgressão.
15 notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if she continues in faith and charity and sanctification and modesty.:
15 Salvar-se-á, porém, dando à luz filhos, se permanecer com modéstia na fé, no amor e na santificação.
