1 A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, thou hast bene our habitation from generation to generation.
1 Senhor, tu sempre tens sido o nosso refúgio.
2 Before the mountaines were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, euen from euerlasting to euerlasting thou art our God.
2 Antes de formares os montes e de começares a criar a terra e o tu és Deus eternamente, no passado, no presente e no futuro.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction: againe thou sayest, Returne, ye sonnes of Adam.
3 Tu dizes aos seres humanos que voltem a ser o que eram antes; tu fazes com que novamente virem pó.
4 For a thousande yeeres in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
4 Diante de ti, mil anos são como um dia, como o dia de ontem, que já passou; são como uma hora noturna que passa depressa.
5 Thou hast ouerflowed them: they are as a sleepe: in the morning he groweth like the grasse:
5 Tu acabas com a vida das pessoas; elas não duram mais do que um sonho. São como a erva que brota de manhã,
6 In the morning it florisheth and groweth, but in the euening it is cut downe and withereth.
6 que cresce e abre em flor e de tarde seca e morre.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
7 Nós somos destruídos pela tua ira , e o teu furor nos deixa apavorados.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sinnes in the light of thy countenance.
8 Tu pões as nossas maldades diante de ti e, com a tua luz, examinas os nossos pecados secretos.
9 For all our dayes are past in thine anger: we haue spent our yeeres as a thought.
9 De repente, os nossos dias são cortados pela tua ira; a nossa vida termina como um sopro.
10 The time of our life is threescore yeeres and ten, and if they be of strength, fourescore yeeres: yet their strength is but labour and sorowe: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.
10 Só vivemos uns setenta anos, e os mais fortes chegam aos oitenta, mas esses anos só trazem canseira e aflições. A vida passa logo, e nós desaparecemos.
11 Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy feare is thine anger.
11 Quem já sentiu o grande poder da tua ira? Quem conhece o medo que o teu furor produz?
12 Teach vs so to nomber our dayes, that we may apply our heartes vnto wisdome.
12 Faze com que saibamos como são poucos os dias da nossa vida para que tenhamos um coração sábio.
13 Returne (O Lord, howe long?) and be pacified toward thy seruants.
13 Olha de novo para nós, ó Senhor Deus! Até quando vai durar a tua ira? Tem compaixão dos teus
14 Fill vs with thy mercie in the morning: so shall we reioyce and be glad all our dayes.
14 Alimenta-nos de manhã com o teu amor, até ficarmos satisfeitos, para que cantemos e nos alegremos a vida inteira.
15 Comfort vs according to the dayes that thou hast afflicted vs, and according to the yeeres that we haue seene euill.
15 Dá-nos agora muita felicidade assim como nos deste muita tristeza no passado, naqueles anos em que tivemos aflições.
16 Let thy worke bee seene towarde thy seruants, and thy glory vpon their children.
16 Que os teus servos vejam as grandes coisas que fazes! E que os nossos descendentes vejam o teu
17 And let the beautie of the Lord our God be vpon vs, and direct thou the worke of our hands vpon vs, euen direct the worke of our handes.
17 Derrama sobre nós as tuas bênçãos, ó Senhor, nosso Deus! Dá-nos sucesso em tudo o que fizermos; sim, dá-nos sucesso em tudo.
