1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. We haue heard with our eares, O God: our fathers haue tolde vs the workes, that thou hast done in their dayes, in the olde time:
1 Ó Deus, nós ouvimos com os próprios ouvidos; nossos pais nos contaram o que fizeste outrora, em seus dias.
2 Howe thou hast driuen out the heathen with thine hand, and planted them: how thou hast destroyed the people, and caused them to grow.
2 Com a tua mão expulsaste as nações e estabeleceste os nossos pais; afligiste os povos e ampliaste o território de nossos pais.
3 For they inherited not the lande by their owne sworde, neither did their owne arme saue them: but thy right hand, and thine arme and the light of thy countenance, because thou didest fauour them.
3 Pois não foi por sua espada que eles conquistaram a terra, nem foi o seu braço que lhes deu vitória, e sim a tua mão poderosa, e o teu braço, e a luz do teu rosto, porque te agradaste deles.
4 Thou art my King, O God: send helpe vnto Iaakob.
4 Tu és o meu rei, ó Deus; ordena a vitória de Jacó.
5 Through thee haue we thrust backe our aduersaries: by thy Name haue we troden downe them that rose vp against vs.
5 Com o teu auxílio, vencemos os nossos inimigos; em teu nome, pisamos sobre os que se levantam contra nós.
6 For I do not trust in my bowe, neither can my sworde saue me.
6 Não confio no meu arco, e não é a minha espada que me salva.
7 But thou hast saued vs from our aduersaries, and hast put them to confusion that hate vs.
7 Pois tu nos salvaste dos nossos inimigos e cobriste de vergonha os que nos odeiam.
8 Therefore will wee praise God continually, and will confesse thy Name for euer. Selah.
8 Em Deus, nos temos gloriado continuamente e para sempre louvaremos o teu nome.
9 But now thou art farre off, and puttest vs to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.
9 Agora, porém, tu nos rejeitaste e nos expuseste à vergonha, e já não acompanhas os nossos exércitos.
10 Thou makest vs to turne backe from the aduersary, and they, which hate vs, spoile for theselues.
10 Tu nos fazes bater em retirada diante dos nossos inimigos, e os que nos odeiam nos tomam por seu despojo.
11 Thou giuest vs as sheepe to bee eaten, and doest scatter vs among the nations.
11 Entregaste-nos como ovelhas para o matadouro e nos espalhaste entre as nações.
12 Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.
12 Vendes por nada o teu povo e não tens lucro com a sua venda.
13 Thou makest vs a reproche to our neighbours, a iest and a laughing stocke to them that are round about vs.
13 Tu nos fazes objeto de deboche para os nossos vizinhos, de escárnio e de zombaria aos que nos rodeiam.
14 Thou makest vs a prouerbe among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.
14 Tu fazes de nós provérbio entre as nações; os povos nos veem e balançam a cabeça.
15 My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face hath couered me,
15 A minha humilhação está sempre diante de mim; o meu rosto se cobre de vergonha,
16 For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.
16 ante os gritos do que afronta e blasfema, à vista do inimigo e do vingador.
17 All this is come vpon vs, yet doe wee not forget thee, neither deale wee falsly concerning thy couenant.
17 Tudo isso nos sobreveio; entretanto, não nos esquecemos de ti, nem fomos infiéis à tua aliança.
18 Our heart is not turned backe: neither our steps gone out of thy paths,
18 O nosso coração não voltou atrás, nem os nossos passos se desviaram dos teus caminhos,
19 Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.
19 para nos esmagares onde vivem os chacais e nos envolveres com as sombras da morte.
20 If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,
20 Se tivéssemos esquecido o nome do nosso Deus ou se tivéssemos estendido as mãos a um deus estranho,
21 Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.
21 será que Deus não teria descoberto isso, ele, que conhece os segredos dos corações?
22 Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
22 Mas, por amor de ti, somos entregues à morte continuamente, somos considerados como ovelhas para o matadouro.
23 Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.
23 Desperta! Por que dormes, Senhor? Desperta! Não nos rejeites para sempre!
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?
24 Por que escondes o rosto e te esqueces da nossa miséria e da nossa opressão?
25 For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.
25 Pois a nossa alma está abatida até o pó, e o nosso corpo está como que pegado no chão.
26 Rise vp for our succour, and redeeme vs for thy mercies sake.
26 Levanta-te para socorrer-nos; resgata-nos por amor da tua bondade.
