1 Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.
1 Ouçam, meus filhos, a instrução de um pai; estejam atentos, e obterão discernimento.
2 For I doe giue you a good doctrine: therefore forsake yee not my lawe.
2 O ensino que lhes ofereço é bom; por isso não abandonem a minha instrução.
3 For I was my fathers sonne, tender and deare in the sight of my mother,
3 Quando eu era menino, ainda pequeno, em companhia de meu pai, um filho muito especial para minha mãe,
4 When he taught me, and sayde vnto me, Let thine heart holde fast my woordes: keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue.
4 ele me ensinava e me dizia: "Apegue-se às minhas palavras de todo o coração; obedeça aos meus mandamentos, e você terá vida.
5 Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.
5 Procure obter sabedoria e entendimento; não se esqueça das minhas palavras nem delas se afaste.
6 Forsake her not, and shee shall keepe thee: loue her and shee shall preserue thee.
6 Não abandone a sabedoria, e ela o protegerá; ame-a, e ela cuidará de você.
7 Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.
7 O conselho da sabedoria é: procure obter sabedoria; use tudo que você possui para adquirir entendimento.
8 Exalt her, and she shall exalt thee: she shall bring thee to honour, if thou embrace her.
8 Dedique alta estima à sabedoria, e ela o exaltará; abrace-a, e ela o honrará.
9 She shall giue a comely ornamet vnto thine head, yea, she shall giue thee a crowne of glorie.
9 Ela porá um belo diadema sobre a sua cabeça e lhe dará de presente uma coroa de esplendor".
10 Heare, my sonne, and receiue my wordes, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe many.
10 Ouça, meu filho, e aceite o que digo, e você terá vida longa.
11 I haue taught thee in ye way of wisedom, and led thee in the pathes of righteousnesse.
11 Eu o conduzi pelo caminho da sabedoria e o encaminhei por veredas retas.
12 Whe thou goest, thy gate shall not be strait, and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.
12 Assim, quando você por elas seguir, não encontrará obstáculos; quando correr, não tropeçará.
13 Take holde of instruction, and leaue not: keepe her, for shee is thy life.
13 Apegue-se à instrução, não a abandone; guarde-a bem, pois dela depende a sua vida.
14 Enter not into the way of the wicked, and walke not in the way of euill men.
14 Não siga pela vereda dos ímpios nem ande no caminho dos maus.
15 Auoide it, and goe not by it: turne from it, and passe by.
15 Evite-o, não passe por ele; afaste-se e não se detenha.
16 For they can not sleepe, except they haue done euill, and their sleepe departeth except they cause some to fall.
16 Pois eles não conseguem dormir enquanto não fazem o mal; perdem o sono se não causarem a ruína de alguém.
17 For they eate the breade of wickednesse, and drinke the wine of violence.
17 Pois eles se alimentam de maldade, e se embriagam de violência.
18 But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.
18 A vereda do justo é como a luz da alvorada, que brilha cada vez mais até à plena claridade do dia.
19 The way of the wicked is as the darkenes: they knowe not wherein they shall fall.
19 Mas o caminho dos ímpios é como densas trevas; nem sequer sabem em que tropeçam.
20 My sonne, hearken vnto my wordes, incline thine eare vnto my sayings.
20 Meu filho, escute o que lhe digo; preste atenção às minhas palavras.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes, but keepe them in the middes of thine heart.
21 Nunca as perca de vista; guarde-as no fundo do coração,
22 For they are life vnto those that find them, and health vnto all their flesh.
22 pois são vida para quem as encontra e saúde para todo o seu ser.
23 Keepe thine heart with all diligence: for thereout commeth life.
23 Acima de tudo, guarde o seu coração, pois dele depende toda a sua vida.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and put wicked lippes farre from thee.
24 Afaste da sua boca as palavras perversas; fique longe dos seus lábios a maldade.
25 Let thine eyes beholde the right, and let thine eyelids direct thy way before thee.
25 Olhe sempre para a frente, mantenha o olhar fixo no que está adiante de você.
26 Ponder the path of thy feete, and let all thy waies be ordred aright.
26 Veja bem por onde anda, e os seus passos serão seguros.
27 Turne not to the right hande, nor to the left, but remooue thy foote from euill.
27 Não se desvie nem para a direita nem para a esquerda; afaste os seus pés da maldade.
