1 Heare, O ye children, the instruction of a father, and giue eare to learne vnderstanding.
1 Ouvi, filhos, a instrução de um pai, e atentai para conhecerdes o entendimento;
2 For I doe giue you a good doctrine: therefore forsake yee not my lawe.
2 porque vos dou boa doutrina, não abandoneis a minha lei.
3 For I was my fathers sonne, tender and deare in the sight of my mother,
3 Porque eu era filho de meu pai, tenro e único, amado à vista de minha mãe.
4 When he taught me, and sayde vnto me, Let thine heart holde fast my woordes: keepe my commandements, and thou shalt liue.
4 Ele também me ensinava, e me dizia: Retenha o teu coração as minhas palavras; guarda os meus mandamentos, e vive.
5 Get wisedom: get vnderstading: forget not, neither decline from the woordes of my mouth.
5 Adquire sabedoria, adquire inteligência; não te esqueça, nem decline das palavras da minha boca.
6 Forsake her not, and shee shall keepe thee: loue her and shee shall preserue thee.
6 Não a abandones, e ela te preservará; ama-a, e ela te guardará.
7 Wisedome is the beginning: get wisedome therefore: and aboue all thy possession get vnderstanding.
7 A sabedoria é a principal coisa; portanto, adquire a sabedoria, e com toda a tua aquisição, adquire entendimento.
8 Exalt her, and she shall exalt thee: she shall bring thee to honour, if thou embrace her.
8 Exalta-a, e ela te promoverá; ela te trará honra quando tu a abraçares.
9 She shall giue a comely ornamet vnto thine head, yea, she shall giue thee a crowne of glorie.
9 Ela dará à tua cabeça uma grinalda de graça; uma coroa de glória te entregará.
10 Heare, my sonne, and receiue my wordes, and the yeeres of thy life shalbe many.
10 Ouve, ó meu filho, e recebe meus dizeres; e os anos da tua vida serão muitos.
11 I haue taught thee in ye way of wisedom, and led thee in the pathes of righteousnesse.
11 No caminho da sabedoria te ensinei, te guiei pelas veredas certas.
12 Whe thou goest, thy gate shall not be strait, and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.
12 Quando tu fores, teus passos não se embaraçarão, e quando correres, não tropeçarás.
13 Take holde of instruction, and leaue not: keepe her, for shee is thy life.
13 Apega-te rapidamente à instrução, e não a deixes ir; guarda-a, porque ela é a tua vida.
14 Enter not into the way of the wicked, and walke not in the way of euill men.
14 Não entres pela vereda dos ímpios, nem vá pelo caminho dos homens maus.
15 Auoide it, and goe not by it: turne from it, and passe by.
15 Evita-o, não passes por ele; desvia-te dele, e passa distante.
16 For they can not sleepe, except they haue done euill, and their sleepe departeth except they cause some to fall.
16 Porque eles não dormem, exceto quando eles causam algum dano, e ficam sem sono, se não fizerem alguém cair.
17 For they eate the breade of wickednesse, and drinke the wine of violence.
17 Porque eles comem o pão da impiedade, e bebem o vinho da violência.
18 But the way of the righteous shineth as the light, that shineth more and more vnto the perfite day.
18 Mas a vereda dos justos é como a luz da aurora, que vai brilhando mais e mais até ser dia perfeito.
19 The way of the wicked is as the darkenes: they knowe not wherein they shall fall.
19 O caminho dos ímpios é como a escuridão, eles não sabem em que tropeçam.
20 My sonne, hearken vnto my wordes, incline thine eare vnto my sayings.
20 Meu filho, atenta para as minhas palavras; inclina o teu ouvido aos meus dizeres.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes, but keepe them in the middes of thine heart.
21 Não os deixes apartar-se dos teus olhos; guarda-os no meio do teu coração.
22 For they are life vnto those that find them, and health vnto all their flesh.
22 Porque são vida para os que os acham, e saúde para toda a sua carne.
23 Keepe thine heart with all diligence: for thereout commeth life.
23 Guarda o teu coração com toda a diligência, pois dele provém as questões da vida.
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and put wicked lippes farre from thee.
24 Afasta de ti a boca maléfica, e afasta de ti os lábios perversos.
25 Let thine eyes beholde the right, and let thine eyelids direct thy way before thee.
25 Que os teus olhos olhem para a frente, e que as tuas pálpebras olhem reto diante de ti.
26 Ponder the path of thy feete, and let all thy waies be ordred aright.
26 Pondera a vereda de teus pés, e que todos os teus caminhos sejam estabelecidos.
27 Turne not to the right hande, nor to the left, but remooue thy foote from euill.
27 Não te vires nem para a direita nem para a esquerda, remove o teu pé do mal.
