1 I REQUIRE then from thee, that, before every thing supplication be offered to Aloha, and prayer and intercession and thanksgiving for all men;
1 Acima de tudo, recomendo que se façam preces, orações, súplicas, ações de graças por todos os homens,
2 for kings and princes, that an habitation quiet and tranquil we may inhabit in all the fear of Aloha and purity.
2 pelos reis e por todos os que estão constituídos em autoridade, para que possamos viver uma vida calma e tranqüila, com toda a piedade e honestidade.
3 For this is good and acceptable before Aloha our Saviour;
3 Isto é bom e agradável diante de Deus, nosso Salvador,
4 who willeth that all men should be saved, and turn to the knowledge of the truth.
4 o qual deseja que todos os homens se salvem e cheguem ao conhecimento da verdade.
5 For one is Aloha, and one is the Mediator of Aloha and of men; the man Jeshu Meshiha,
5 Porque há um só Deus e há um só mediador entre Deus e os homens: Jesus Cristo, homem
6 who gave himself a ransom for every man; a testimony which cometh in its time,
6 que se entregou como resgate por todos. Tal é o fato, atestado em seu tempo;
7 of which I am constituted an herald and an apostle, I say the truth and lie not, to be a teacher of the nations in the faith of the truth.
7 e deste fato - digo a verdade, não minto - fui constituído pregador, apóstolo e doutor dos gentios, na fé e na verdade.
8 I wish then for men to pray in every place, uplifting their hands purely and without wrath and without disputations.
8 Quero, pois, que os homens orem em todo lugar, levantando as mãos puras, superando todo ódio e ressentimento.
9 So also let women with decorous simplicity of apparel,with modesty and with chastity, adorn themselves, not with braidings, and with gold, and with pearls, and with fine vestments,
9 Do mesmo modo, quero que as mulheres usem traje honesto, ataviando-se com modéstia e sobriedade. Seus enfeites consistam não em primorosos penteados, ouro, pérolas, vestidos de luxo,
10 but with good works, as becometh women who profess the fear of Aloha.
10 e sim em boas obras, como convém a mulheres que professam a piedade.
11 Let the wife in quietude learn with all submission:
11 A mulher ouça a instrução em silêncio, com espírito de submissão.
12 for unto the wife to teach I permit not, neither to be authoritative over the husband, but to be in quietude.
12 Não permito à mulher que ensine nem que se arrogue autoridade sobre o homem, mas permaneça em silêncio.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Hava;
13 Pois o primeiro a ser criado foi Adão, depois Eva.
14 and Adam was not deceived, but the wife was deceived, and transgressed the commandment.
14 E não foi Adão que se deixou iludir, e sim a mulher que, enganada, se tornou culpada de transgressão.
15 But she is saved by her children, if they continue in faith, and in love, and in sanctification, and in chastity.
15 Contudo, ela poderá salvar-se, cumprindo os deveres de mãe, contanto que permaneça com modéstia na fé, na caridade e na santidade.
