1 Every soul be subject to higher powers. For there is no power but of God (or For there is no authority except from God), and those things that be of God, be ordained.
1 Toda alma esteja sujeita às autoridades superiores; porque não há autoridade que não venha de Deus; e as autoridades existentes foram ordenadas por Deus.
2 Therefore he that against-standeth power, against-standeth the ordinance of God; and they that against-stand (that), get to themselves damnation.
2 Por isso, quem resiste à autoridade resiste à ordenação de Deus; e os que resistem receberão sobre si mesmos a condenação.
3 For princes be not to the dread of good work(s), but of evil (works), (or For rulers or leaders should not be feared by those who do good works, but by those who do evil works). But wilt thou, that thou dread not power? Do thou (a) good thing, and thou shalt have (the) praising of it; [For why princes be not to the dread of good work\+sls (s)\+sls*, but of evil. Soothly wilt thou not dread power? Do good, and thou shalt have \+sls (the)\+sls* praising of it;]
3 Porque os governantes não são terror para as boas obras, mas para as más. Tu então não queres temer a autoridade? Faze o que é bom e terás louvor dela.
4 for he is the minister of God to thee into good. But if thou doest evil, dread thou; for not without cause he beareth the sword, for he is the minister of God, venger into wrath to him that doeth evil. (for he is God’s servant for your own good. But if thou doest evil, fear thou; for not without cause he beareth the sword, for he is God’s servant, the avenger unto wrath of those who do evil.)
4 Porque ela é o ministro de Deus para o teu bem. Mas se tu fizeres o que é mau, teme, pois ela não traz a espada em vão; porque é ministro de Deus e vingador para executar a ira contra aquele que pratica o mal.
5 And therefore by need be ye subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience.
5 Portanto, é necessário que estejais sujeitos, não somente pela ira, mas também por causa da consciência.
6 For therefore ye give tributes, they be the ministers of God, and serve for this same thing. (And so for this ye pay taxes, for they be God’s servants, and serve by these duties.)

7 Therefore yield ye to all men (your) debts, to whom tribute, tribute, to whom toll, [or \+sls (a)\+sls* custom \+sls (duty)\+sls* for things borne about], toll, [or such \+sls (a)\+sls* custom \+sls (duty)\+sls*], to whom dread, dread, to whom honour, honour. 9 For, Thou shalt do no lechery (or Thou shalt not do adultery), Thou shalt not slay, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not say false witnessing (or Thou shalt not give false testimony), Thou shalt not covet the thing of thy neighbour, and if there be any other commandment, it is enstored, or included, [or enclosed], in this word, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
9 Por isto: Tu não cometerás adultério, não assassinarás, não furtarás, não darás falso testemunho, não cobiçarás; e, se há algum outro mandamento, tudo se resume nesta palavra: Tu amarás ao teu próximo como a ti mesmo.
10 The love of thy neighbour worketh not evil; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
10 O amor não faz mal ao próximo; portanto o amor é o cumprimento da lei.
11 And we know (at) this time, that the hour is now, that we rise from sleep; for now is our health near(er), [or soothly now our health is nearer], (or for now our salvation, or our deliverance, is nearer), than when we (first) believed.
11 E então, conhecendo o tempo, que já é hora de despertarmos do sono; porque a nossa salvação agora está mais perto de nós do que quando cremos.
12 The night went before, but the day hath nighed. Therefore cast we away the works of darknesses, and be we clothed in the armours of light [or and be we clothed with the armours of light]. (The night went before, but now the day hath approached. And so let us throw off the works of darkness, and be we clothed in the armour of light.)
12 A noite é passada, e o dia é chegado. Portanto, rejeitemos as obras das trevas e vistamo-nos da armadura da luz.
13 As in [the] day wander, (or walk, or go), we honestly (or decently), not in superfluous feasts [or in oft eatings], and drunkennesses, not in beds (or bedchambers) and unchastities, not in strife and in envy;
13 E nós caminhamos honestamente, como de dia, não em tumultos, nem em embriaguez, nem em orgias, nem em devassidão, nem em contendas e inveja.
14 but be ye clothed in the Lord Jesus Christ, and do ye not the busyness [or the cares] of (the) flesh in desires.
14 Mas revesti-vos do Senhor Jesus Cristo e não façam provisão para a carne, para cumprir suas cobiças.
