1 Lord, have thou mind what befell to us, (or Lord, remember what hath happened to us); see thou, and behold our shame.
1 Lembra-te, Senhor , do que nos aconteceu; considera e olha para a nossa desgraça.
2 Our heritage is turned to aliens, our houses be turned to strangers. (Our inheritance is turned, \+em or given\+em*, over to foreigners, our houses \+em be turned over\+em* to strangers.)
2 A nossa herança foi entregue a estranhos, e as nossas casas, a estrangeiros.
3 We be made fatherless children without (a) father; our mothers be as widows (or our mothers \+em be\+em* like widows).
3 Somos órfãos, já não temos pai; as nossas mães são como viúvas.
4 We drank our water for money, we bought our wood for silver. (We must buy with money our water to drink, and we must buy with silver our wood to burn.)
4 Temos de comprar a nossa própria água; temos de pagar pela nossa própria lenha.
5 We were driven by our heads, and rest was not given to faint men. (The yoke is upon our necks, and rest is not given to the weary.)
5 Os nossos perseguidores estão sobre o nosso pescoço; estamos exaustos e não temos descanso.
6 We gave (the) hand to Egypt, and to Assyrians, that we should be [ful] filled with bread. (We put forth our hands to Egypt, and to Assyria, for food to eat.)
6 Submetemo-nos aos egípcios e aos assírios, para nos fartarem de pão.
7 Our fathers sinned, and be not, and we bare the wickednesses of them. (Our forefathers sinned, and be not, and we carry their wickednesses.)
7 Nossos pais pecaram e já não existem; nós é que recebemos o castigo pelas suas iniquidades.
8 Servants were lords of us, and none was, that again-bought from the hand of them. (Servants be our lords, and there is no one who can rescue us from their hands.)
8 Escravos dominam sobre nós; não há ninguém que nos livre das suas mãos.
9 In our lives we brought bread to us, from the face of [the] sword in desert. (Risking our lives, we brought in food for us, from the face of the sword in the wilderness.)
9 Arriscamos a vida para conseguir o nosso pão, por causa da ameaça que vem do deserto.
10 Our skin is burnt as a furnace, of the face of tempests of hunger. (Our skin is burned like from a furnace, from being buffeted by the tempests of hunger.)
10 Nossa pele queima como um forno, por causa do ardor da fome.
11 They made low (the) women in Zion, and (the) virgins in the cities of Judah.
11 As mulheres foram violentadas em Sião; as virgens, nas cidades de Judá.
12 Princes were hanged [up] by the hand; they were not ashamed of the faces of eld men. (Our leaders were hung up by their hands; no one showed any honour to the old men, \+em or the elders\+em*.)
12 Enforcaram os príncipes, não tiveram nenhum respeito pelos velhos.
13 They misused young waxing men unchastely, and children fell down in (the) tree. (They used the young men unchastely, and children fell down under loads of wood.)
13 Os jovens são obrigados a virar os moinhos; os meninos tropeçam debaixo das cargas de lenha.
14 Eld men failed from [the] gates; young men failed from the quire of singers. (Old men no longer sit at the city gates; young men \+em no longer\+em* sing in the choir.)
14 Os anciãos já não se reúnem junto ao portão da cidade; os jovens já não cantam mais.
15 The joy of our heart failed; our song is turned into mourning.
15 Cessou a alegria de nosso coração; a nossa dança se transformou em lamentações.
16 The crown of our head fell down (or The crowns have fallen from off our heads); woe to us! for we (all have) sinned.
16 Caiu a coroa da nossa cabeça. Ai de nós, porque pecamos!
17 Therefore our heart is made sorrowful, therefore our eyes be made dark.
17 Por causa disso, o nosso coração está doente; por causa dessas coisas, os nossos olhos se escureceram.
18 For the hill of Zion, for it perished; foxes went in it. (For Mount Zion, for it hath perished; and now foxes run all over it.)
18 Pelo monte Sião, que está abandonado, vagueiam os chacais.
19 But thou, Lord, shalt dwell without end; thy seat shall dwell in generation and into generation. (But thou, Lord, shalt live forever; thy throne \+em shall remain\+em* for all generations.)
19 Tu, Senhor , reinas eternamente, o teu trono subsiste de geração em geração.
20 Why shalt thou forget us [into] without end, shalt thou forsake us into [the] length of days? (Why hast thou forgotten us for so long, shalt thou abandon us forever?)
20 Por que te esquecerias de nós para sempre? Por que nos desampararias por tanto tempo?
21 Lord, convert thou us to thee, and we shall be converted; make thou new our days, as at the beginning. (Lord, turn thou us back to thee, and we shall come back to thee; renew thou our days, like at the beginning.)
21 Converte-nos a ti, Senhor , e seremos convertidos; renova os nossos dias como antigamente.
22 But thou casting away hast cast away us; thou art wroth against us greatly. (But thou casting away hath cast us away; thou \+em still\+em* hath great anger against us.)
22 Por que nos rejeitarias de vez? Por que ficarias tão enfurecido contra nós?
