1 These things I have spoken to you, (so) that ye be not caused to stumble.
1 Disse-vos essas coisas para vos preservar de alguma queda.
2 They shall make you without the synagogues, but the hour cometh, that each man that slayeth you, deem that he doeth service to God. (They shall put you out of the synagogues, and the time cometh, when each man who killeth you, shall think that he doeth a service to God.)
2 Expulsar-vos-ão das sinagogas, e virá a hora em que todo aquele que vos tirar a vida julgará prestar culto a Deus.
3 And they shall do to you these things, for they have not known the Father, neither me.
3 Procederão deste modo porque não conheceram o Pai, nem a mim.
4 But these things I spake to you, that when the hour of them shall come, ye have mind, (or so that when their time shall come, ye shall remember), that I said (this) to you. I said not to you these things from the beginning, for I was with you.
4 Disse-vos, porém, essas palavras para que, quando chegar a hora, vos lembreis de que vo-lo anunciei. E não vo-las disse desde o princípio, porque estava convosco.
5 And now I go to him that sent me, and no man of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? (And now I go to him who sent me, and none of you asketh me, Where goest thou?)
5 Agora vou para aquele que me enviou, e ninguém de vós me pergunta: Para onde vais?
6 but for I have spoken to you these things, heaviness [or sorrow] hath full-filled your heart(s). (but because I have spoken these things to you, now sorrow hath filled your hearts full.)
6 Mas porque vos falei assim, a tristeza encheu o vosso coração.
7 But I say to you (the) truth, it speedeth to you, that I go, (or But I tell you the truth, it is more expedient for you, that I go away); for if I go not forth, the Comforter shall not come to you; but if I go forth, I shall send him to you. [But I say to you truth, it speedeth to you, that I go; soothly if I shall not go away, the comforter shall not come to you; forsooth if I shall go away, I shall send him to you.]
7 Entretanto, digo-vos a verdade: convém a vós que eu vá! Porque, se eu não for, o Paráclito não virá a vós; mas se eu for, vo-lo enviarei.
8 And when he cometh, he shall reprove the world of sin, and of rightwiseness, and of doom, (And when he cometh, he shall prove the world wrong about sin, and about righteousness, and about judgement.)
8 E, quando ele vier, convencerá o mundo a respeito do pecado, da justiça e do juízo.
9 Of sin (or About sin), for they have not believed in me;
9 Convencerá o mundo a respeito do pecado, que consiste em não crer em mim.
10 and of rightwiseness (or and about righteousness), for I go to the Father, and now ye shall not see me;
10 Ele o convencerá a respeito da justiça, porque eu me vou para junto do meu Pai e vós já não me vereis;
11 but of doom, for the prince of this world is now deemed. (and about judgement, for the Prince of this world is now judged.)
11 ele o convencerá a respeito do juízo, que consiste em que o príncipe deste mundo já está julgado e condenado.
12 Yet I have many things to say to you, but ye may not bear them now (or but ye cannot bear them now).
12 Muitas coisas ainda tenho a dizer-vos, mas não as podeis suportar agora.
13 But when the Spirit of truth cometh, he shall teach you all truth; for he shall not speak of himself, but whatever things he shall hear, he shall speak; and he shall tell to you those things that be to come.
13 Quando vier o Paráclito, o Espírito da Verdade, ensinar-vos-á toda a verdade, porque não falará por si mesmo, mas dirá o que ouvir, e anunciar-vos-á as coisas que virão.
14 He shall clarify me, for of mine he shall take, and shall tell to you. (He shall glorify me, for he shall receive it from me, and then he shall tell it to you.)
14 Ele me glorificará, porque receberá do que é meu, e vo-lo anunciará.
15 All things, whatever [things] the Father hath, be mine; therefore I said to you, that of mine he shall take, and (then) shall tell to you. (Everything, whatever the Father hath, is mine; and so I said to you, that he shall receive it from me, and then he shall tell it to you.)
15 Tudo o que o Pai possui é meu. Por isso, disse: Há de receber do que é meu, e vo-lo anunciará.
16 A little, and then ye shall not see me; and again a little, and ye shall see me, for I go to the Father.
16 Ainda um pouco de tempo, e já me não vereis; e depois mais um pouco de tempo, e me tornareis a ver, porque vou para junto do Pai.
17 Therefore some of his disciples said together, What is this thing that he saith to us, A little, and ye shall not see me; and again a little, and ye shall see me, for I go to the Father?
17 Nisso alguns dos seus discípulos perguntavam uns aos outros: Que é isso que ele nos diz: Ainda um pouco de tempo, e não me vereis; e depois mais um pouco de tempo, e me tornareis a ver? E que significa também: Eu vou para o Pai?
18 Therefore they said, What is this that he saith to us, A little? we know not what he speaketh.
18 Diziam então: Que significa este pouco de tempo de que fala? Não sabemos o que ele quer dizer.
19 And Jesus knew, that they would ask him, and he said to them, Of this thing ye seek among you(rselves), for I said, A little, and ye shall not see me; and again a little, and ye shall see me.
19 Jesus notou que lho queriam perguntar e disse-lhes: Perguntais uns aos outros acerca do que eu disse: Ainda um pouco de tempo, e não me vereis; e depois mais um pouco de tempo, e me tornareis a ver.
20 Truly, truly, I say to you, (or Truly, I tell you the truth), that ye shall mourn and weep, but the world shall have joy; and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall turn into joy.
20 Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: haveis de lamentar e chorar, mas o mundo se há de alegrar. E haveis de estar tristes, mas a vossa tristeza se há de transformar em alegria.
21 A woman when she beareth (a) child, hath heaviness [or sorrow], for her time is come; but when she hath born a son, now she thinketh not on the pain, for (or because of her) joy, for a man is born into the world.
21 Quando a mulher está para dar à luz, sofre porque veio a sua hora. Mas, depois que deu à luz a criança, já não se lembra da aflição, por causa da alegria que sente de haver nascido um homem no mundo.
22 And therefore ye have now sorrow, but again I shall see you, and your heart(s) shall have joy, and no man shall take from you your joy.
22 Assim também vós: sem dúvida, agora estais tristes, mas hei de ver-vos outra vez, e o vosso coração se alegrará e ninguém vos tirará a vossa alegria.
23 And in that day ye shall not ask (of) me anything; truly, truly, I say to you, if ye ask the Father (for) anything in my name, he shall give [it] to you. (And on that day ye shall ask nothing of me; truly, I tell you the truth, if ye ask the Father for anything in my name, he shall give it to you.)
23 Naquele dia não me perguntareis mais coisa alguma. Em verdade, em verdade vos digo: o que pedirdes ao Pai em meu nome, ele vo-lo dará.
24 Till now ye (have) asked nothing in my name; ask ye, and ye shall take, (or ask, and ye shall receive), (so) that your joy be full.
24 Até agora não pedistes nada em meu nome. Pedi e recebereis, para que a vossa alegria seja perfeita.
25 I have spoken to you these things in proverbs; the hour cometh, when now I shall not speak to you in proverbs, but openly of my Father I shall tell to you [or but openly of my Father I shall tell you].
25 Disse-vos essas coisas em termos figurados e obscuros. Vem a hora em que já não vos falarei por meio de comparações e parábolas, mas vos falarei abertamente a respeito do Pai.
26 In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you, that I shall pray (to) the Father for you;
26 Naquele dia pedireis em meu nome, e já não digo que rogarei ao Pai por vós.
27 for the Father himself loveth you, for ye have loved me, and have believed, that I went out from God.
27 Pois o mesmo Pai vos ama, porque vós me amastes e crestes que saí de Deus.
28 I went out from the Father, and I came into the world; again I leave the world, and go to the Father.
28 Saí do Pai e vim ao mundo. Agora deixo o mundo e volto para junto do Pai.
29 His disciples said to him, Lo! now thou speakest openly, and thou sayest no proverb.
29 Disseram-lhe os seus discípulos: Eis que agora falas claramente e a tua linguagem já não é figurada e obscura.
30 Now we know, that thou knowest all things; and it is not need(ful) to thee, [or and it is no need to thee], (or and there is no need), that any man ask thee (anything more). In this thing we believe, that thou wentest out from God.
30 Agora sabemos que conheces todas as coisas e que não necessitas que alguém te pergunte. Por isso, cremos que saíste de Deus.
31 Jesus answered to them, Now ye believe.
31 Jesus replicou-lhes: Credes agora!...
32 Lo! the hour cometh, and now it cometh, that ye be scattered, each into his own things, and that ye leave me alone; and I am not alone (or but I am not alone), for the Father is with me.
32 Eis que vem a hora, e ela já veio, em que sereis espalhados, cada um para o seu lado, e me deixareis sozinho. Mas não estou só, porque o Pai está comigo.
33 These things I have spoken to you, (so) that ye have peace in me; in the world ye shall have dis-ease, [or have pressing, or over-laying], (or in the world ye shall have pressure), but trust ye, I have overcome the world.
33 Referi-vos essas coisas para que tenhais a paz em mim. No mundo haveis de ter aflições. Coragem! Eu venci o mundo.
