1 And I myself, Paul, beseech you, by the mildness (or by the meekness) and (the) softness, [or \+sls (the)\+sls* patience], of Christ, (or And I, Paul, beseech you, by the meekness, and the gentleness of the Messiah), which in the face am meek among you, and I absent trust in you.
1 Dizem que eu sou humilde quando estou com vocês, mas duro quando estou longe. Pois eu, Paulo, faço este apelo a vocês em nome de Cristo, que foi carinhoso e bondoso.
2 For I pray you, that lest I present be not bold [or be not hardy] by the trust, in which I am guessed to be bold [or to be hardy] into some, that deem us, as if we wander after the flesh. (For I pray you, lest that when I am present I be not bold with the confidence, in which I am thought to be bold by some, who judge us, as if we walk or if we go after the flesh.)
2 Quando eu for aí, não me obriguem a ser duro. Pois eu tenho certeza de que posso agir com dureza contra os que afirmam que fazemos as coisas por motivos humanos.
3 For we walking in the flesh, fight not after the flesh.
3 É claro que somos humanos, mas não lutamos por motivos humanos.
4 For the armours of our knighthood be not fleshly, but mighty by God to the destruction of strengths [or of wardings]. (For the arms or the weapons of our combat be not fleshly, but be made mighty by God for the destruction of strongholds.)
4 As armas que usamos na nossa luta não são do mundo; são armas poderosas de Deus, capazes de destruir fortalezas. E assim destruímos ideias falsas
5 And we destroy counsels, and all highness that higheth [or raised] itself against the science of God, and drive into captivity all understanding into the service of Christ. (And we destroy plots and plans, and all the highness that raiseth itself against the knowledge of God, and drive into captivity all understanding in the service of, or obedience to, the Messiah.)
5 e também todo orgulho humano que não deixa que as pessoas conheçam a Deus. Dominamos todo pensamento humano e fazemos com que ele obedeça a Cristo.
6 And we have ready to (a)venge all unobedience (or And we be ready to punish all disobedience or rebellion), when your obedience shall be [ful] filled.
6 E, quando vocês provarem que são obedientes, estaremos prontos para castigar qualquer desobediência.
7 See ye the things that be after the face. If any man trusteth to himself, that he is of Christ, think he this thing again with himself, for as he is Christ’s, so also we (be). (Look at what is before you. If any man trusteth himself, that he is the Messiah’s, then think he this within himself, that as he is the Messiah’s, so we also be the Messiah’s.)
7 Vocês julgam as coisas pela aparência. Se uma pessoa tem certeza de que pertence a Cristo, deve pensar de novo a respeito disso, pois nós também pertencemos a Cristo, tanto quanto essa pessoa.
8 For if I shall glory (or For if I shall boast), (in) anything more of our power, which the Lord gave to us into edifying, and not into your destruction, I shall not be (a)shamed.
8 O Senhor Jesus me deu autoridade sobre vocês, não para destruí-los, mas para fazê-los crescer espiritualmente. E, embora eu tenha me orgulhado um pouco demais da minha autoridade, não tenho nada de que me envergonhar.
9 But that I be not guessed as to fear you by epistles, (So that I do not be thought to frighten you by my letters,)
9 Não quero que pareça que estou tentando assustar vocês com as minhas cartas.
10 for they say, That epistles be grievous [or be heavy] and strong, but the presence of the body is feeble, and the word (is) worthy to be despised [or it is contemptible]. (for they say, His letters be weighty and strong, but in person he \+em is\+em* frail or weak, and his speech contemptible.)
10 Alguém vai dizer: “As cartas de Paulo são severas e duras; mas, quando ele está conosco, é tímido e, quando fala, é um fracasso.”
11 He that is such one, think this, for such as we absent be in word by epistles (or letters), such we be present in deed.
11 Porém essa pessoa deve saber que não existe diferença entre o que escrevemos nas cartas, quando estamos longe, e o que fazemos, quando estamos aí com vocês.
12 For we dare not put us among, or comparison us to some men, that commend themselves; but we measure us in us-selves, and comparison us-selves to us.
12 É claro que não nos atrevemos a nos igualar ou a nos comparar com aqueles que pensam que são tão importantes. Como são ignorantes! Primeiro eles resolvem quais as medidas que irão usar para se medir e depois eles se julgam de acordo com essas mesmas medidas.
13 For we shall not have glory over-measure, but by the measure of the rule which God measured to us, the measure that stretcheth [till] to you.
13 Nós não vamos nos orgulhar além de certos limites. Deus é quem põe os limites no nosso campo de trabalho, e ele nos deixou chegar até vocês em Corinto.
14 For we overstretch not forth us, as not stretching to you. For to you we came in the gospel of Christ (or For we came to you to preach the Gospel, or the Good News, of the Messiah),
14 Desde que vocês estão dentro desses limites, não fomos além deles quando chegamos até aí levando o evangelho de Cristo.
15 not glorying over-measure in other men’s travails. For we have hope of your faith that waxeth in you (or For we have hope that by the faith that groweth in you), to be magnified by our rule in abundance,
15 Assim não nos orgulhamos do trabalho que outros têm feito em lugares que vão além dos limites que Deus nos deu. Pelo contrário, esperamos que a fé que vocês têm possa crescer e que nós possamos fazer um trabalho ainda maior entre vocês, sempre dentro dos limites que Deus tem posto para nós.
16 also to preach into those things that be beyond you, not to have glory in (an)other man’s rule (or not to boast about, or over, another man’s field of work), in these things that be made ready.
16 Então poderemos anunciar o evangelho em outras regiões além daquela onde vocês moram. Isso sem entrar em campos de outras pessoas, para não nos orgulharmos do trabalho feito por elas.
17 He that glorieth, have glory in the Lord. (He who boasteth, boast of the Lord.)
17 Como dizem as Escrituras Sagradas : “Quem quiser se orgulhar, que se orgulhe daquilo que o Senhor faz.”
18 For not he that commendeth himself is (ap)proved, but whom God commendeth.
18 Pois a pessoa só é aprovada quando o Senhor a aprova e não quando é aprovada por si mesma.
