1 Samuel 8
GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs BKJ
1 When Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel.
1 E sucedeu que, quando Samuel ficou velho, ele fez dos seus filhos juízes sobre Israel.
2 The name of his firstborn son was Joel; the name of his second son was Abijah. They were judges in Beersheba.
2 Ora, o nome do seu primogênito era Joel; e o nome do seu segundo, Abias; eles eram juízes em Berseba.
3 The sons didn’t follow their father’s example but turned to dishonest ways of making money. They took bribes and denied people justice.
3 E os seus filhos não andaram nos seus caminhos, mas se desviaram atrás da ganância, e receberam subornos, e perverteram o juízo.
4 Then all the leaders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah.
4 Então, todos os anciãos de Israel se reuniram, e vieram a Samuel até Ramá,
5 They told him, “You’re old, and your sons aren’t following your example. Now appoint a king to judge us so that we will be like all the other nations.”
5 e lhe disseram: Eis que és velho e os teus filhos não andam nos teus caminhos; agora, prepara-nos um rei para nos julgar, como todas as nações.
6 But Samuel considered it wrong for them to request a king to judge them. So Samuel prayed to the Lord.
6 Mas aquilo desagradou Samuel, quando eles disseram: Dá-nos um rei para nos julgar. E Samuel orou ao SENHOR.
7 The Lord told Samuel, “Listen to everything the people are saying to you. They haven’t rejected you; they’ve rejected me.
7 E o SENHOR disse a Samuel: Atenta à voz do povo em tudo o que te dizem; pois não rejeitaram a ti, mas rejeitaram a mim, para que eu não reine sobre eles.
8 They’re doing just what they’ve done since I took them out of Egypt—leaving me and serving other gods.
8 De acordo com todas as obras que eles fizeram desde o dia que os tirei do Egito até este dia, com as quais eles abandonaram e serviram a outros deuses, assim também fazem a ti.
9 Listen to them now, but be sure to warn them and tell them about the rights of a king.”
9 Agora, portanto, atenta à sua voz; todavia, mesmo assim, protesta solenemente diante deles, e mostra-lhes a conduta do rei que reinará sobre eles.
10 Then Samuel told the people who had asked him for a king everything the Lord had said.
10 E Samuel disse todas as palavras do SENHOR ao povo que lhe pedia um rei.
11 Samuel said, “These are the rights of a king:
11 E ele disse: Esta será a conduta do rei que reinará sobre vós: Ele tomará os vossos filhos, e os indicará para si mesmo, para as suas carruagens, e para serem os seus cavaleiros; e alguns correrão adiante das suas carruagens.
12 He will appoint them to be his officers over 1,000 or over 50 soldiers, to plow his ground and harvest his crops, and to make weapons and equipment for his chariots.
12 E ele indicará para si mesmo capitães sobre milhares, e capitães sobre cinquenta; e os porá para cultivar o seu solo, e ceifar a sua colheita, e para fazer os seus instrumentos de guerra, e instrumentos das suas carruagens.
13 He will take your daughters and have them make perfumes, cook, and bake.
13 E ele tomará as vossas filhas para serem confeiteiras, e para serem cozinheiras, e para serem padeiras.
14 He will take the best of your fields, vineyards, and olive orchards and give them to his officials.
14 E ele tomará os vossos campos, e os vossos vinhedos, e os vossos olivais, até o melhor deles, e os dará aos seus servos.
15 He will take a tenth of your grain and wine and give it to his aids and officials.
15 E ele tomará o dízimo da vossa semente, e dos vossos vinhedos, e o dará aos seus oficiais, e aos seus servos.
16 He will take your male and female slaves, your best cattle, and your donkeys for his own use.
16 E ele tomará os vossos servos, e as vossas servas, e os vossos melhores jovens, e os vossos jumentos, e os porá ao seu trabalho.
17 He will take a tenth of your flocks.
17 Ele tomará o dízimo das vossas ovelhas; e vós sereis seus servos.
18 “When that day comes, you will cry out because of the king whom you have chosen for yourselves. The Lord will not answer you when that day comes.”
18 E, naquele dia, clamareis por causa do vosso rei o qual escolhestes para vós; e o SENHOR não vos ouvirá naquele dia.
19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. They said, “No, we want a king!
19 Todavia, o povo se recusava a obedecer a voz de Samuel; e dizia: Não, mas teremos um rei sobre nós;
20 Then we, too, will be like all the other nations. Our king will judge us, lead us out ⌞to war⌟, and fight our battles.”
20 para que nós também possamos ser como todas as nações; e para que o nosso rei possa nos julgar, e sair adiante de nós, e lutar nas nossas batalhas.
21 When Samuel heard everything the people had to say, he reported it privately to the Lord.
21 E Samuel ouviu todas as palavras do povo, e ele as relatou aos ouvidos do SENHOR.
22 The Lord told him, “Listen to them, and give them a king.”
22 E o SENHOR disse a Samuel: Atenta para a voz deles, e prepara-lhes um rei. E Samuel disse aos homens de Israel: Ide vós, cada qual, à sua cidade.
