1 Jesus and his followers left Galilee and walked down south. They walked all across Judea and went into the country on the other side of the Jordan River. Crowds of people came to listen to Jesus and just like he did in other places, he kept on teaching them about God.
1 Então Jesus deixou Cafarnaum e foi para a região da Judeia, a leste do rio Jordão. Mais uma vez, multidões se juntaram ao seu redor e, como de costume, ele as ensinava.
2 Some Jewish lawmen wanted to trick him and so they came to Jesus and said, “Is it alright for a married man to split up with his wife and send her away?”
2 Alguns fariseus vieram e tentaram apanhar Jesus numa armadilha com a seguinte pergunta: “Deve-se permitir que um homem se divorcie de sua mulher?”.
3 Jesus said, “What did Moses write in God's book?”
3 Jesus respondeu: “O que Moisés disse na lei a respeito do divórcio?”.
4 The lawmen said, “Moses wrote that if a man wanted to split up from his wife, he had to write a special letter. That letter said that they were not married anymore. Then he could give that letter to his wife and send her away.”
4 “Ele o permitiu”, responderam os fariseus. “Disse que um homem poderia dar à esposa um certificado de divórcio e mandá-la embora.”
5 Jesus said to them, “Moses knew that you Israelite people are really hard, and that is why he had to write those words. You have closed your ears and you have not listened to God!
5 Jesus, porém, disse: “Moisés escreveu esse mandamento porque vocês têm o coração duro,
6 God's book says, that when God made the world, he made a man and a woman.
6 mas ‘Deus os fez homem e mulher’ desde o princípio da criação.
7 God's way is for a man to leave his father and mother and marry a woman so that they can join up together and make a new family.
7 ‘Por isso o homem deixa pai e mãe e se une à sua mulher,
8 So then, they are not just 2 people anymore. It is like they have become one body.
8 e os dois se tornam um só’. Uma vez que já não são dois, mas um só,
9 And so, if God has joined them together like that, no-one should try and split them up.”
9 que ninguém separe o que Deus uniu”.
10 Later on, when Jesus and his followers were sitting down in a house, his followers asked him, “What did you say to those Jewish lawmen?”
10 Mais tarde, quando Jesus estava em casa com seus discípulos, eles tocaram no assunto outra vez.
11 Jesus said, “If a man leaves his wife and marries another woman, he is sleeping with the wrong woman and he is breaking God's law.
11 Jesus respondeu: “Quem se divorcia de sua esposa e se casa com outra mulher comete adultério contra ela.
12 And if a woman leaves her husband and marries another man, then she is sleeping with the wrong man and she is breaking God's law.”
12 E, se a mulher se divorcia do marido e se casa com outro homem, comete adultério”.
13 Some people took their children to Jesus. They wanted him to put his hand on them, and pray for them. But Jesus' followers growled at the parents and tried to block them.
13 Certo dia, trouxeram crianças para que Jesus pusesse as mãos sobre elas, mas os discípulos repreendiam aqueles que as traziam.
14 Jesus got angry when he saw what they were doing and said, “No! Don't stop those children. Let them come to me. God's family is full of people like them.
14 Ao ver isso, Jesus ficou indignado com os discípulos e disse: “Deixem que as crianças venham a mim. Não as impeçam, pois o reino de Deus pertence aos que são como elas.
15 I tell you straight, if you don't come into God's family like a little child, you can't be in God's family.”
15 Eu lhes digo a verdade: quem não receber o reino de Deus como uma criança de modo algum entrará nele”.

16 Então tomou as crianças nos braços, pôs as mãos sobre a cabeça delas e as abençoou.
17 When Jesus and his followers started to leave that place, a man ran up to Jesus and got down on his knees. He said, “Good teacher, what can I do to live with God forever?”
17 Quando Jesus saía para Jerusalém, um homem veio correndo em sua direção, ajoelhou-se diante dele e perguntou: “Bom mestre, que devo fazer para herdar a vida eterna?”.
18 Jesus said, “Why do you say that I am good? God is the only one who is good!
18 “Por que você me chama de bom?”, perguntou Jesus. “Apenas Deus é verdadeiramente bom.
19 You know God's laws.
19 Você conhece os mandamentos: ‘Não mate. Não cometa adultério. Não roube. Não dê falso testemunho. Não engane ninguém. Honre seu pai e sua mãe’.”
20 The man said, “Teacher, I have followed those laws all my life.” Jesus talked to the rich young man|src="CN01774B Rich young man.TIF" size="col" copy="David Cook" ref="10:20"
20 O homem respondeu: “Mestre, tenho obedecido a todos esses mandamentos desde a juventude”.
21 Jesus looked at him, and was worried for him. Then Jesus said, “There is still one more thing you have to do. Go and sell everything you have and give all the money to people who have nothing. Then come and follow me and God will give you better things when you get to heaven.”
21 Com amor, Jesus olhou para o homem e disse: “Ainda há uma coisa que você não fez. Vá, venda todos os seus bens e dê o dinheiro aos pobres. Então você terá um tesouro no céu. Depois, venha e siga-me”.
22 Straight away the man looked really sad. He walked away with his eyes looking down. He was a rich man and he did not want to give everything away.
22 Ao ouvir isso, o homem ficou desapontado e foi embora triste, pois tinha muitos bens.
23 Jesus watched the man walk away. Then he turned and looked at his followers and said, “Rich people have a lot of trouble letting God be the Lord of their lives.”
23 Jesus olhou ao redor e disse a seus discípulos: “Como é difícil os ricos entrarem no reino de Deus!”.
24 When the followers heard this, they were shocked. But Jesus kept on talking and said, “My little children, it is hard for anyone to come into God's family.
24 Os discípulos se admiraram de suas palavras. Mas Jesus disse outra vez: “Filhos, entrar no reino de Deus é muito difícil.
25 You know how a sewing needle has a little hole in it. Do you reckon that a camel can fit in that little hole? No, it can't. 25 É mais fácil um camelo passar pelo buraco de uma agulha que um rico entrar no reino de Deus”.
26 When Jesus' followers heard this, they were even more shocked, and they said to each other, “Might be, no-one can get into God's family!”
26 Perplexos, os discípulos perguntaram: “Então quem pode ser salvo?”.
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “Nobody can get themselves into God's family. God is the only one who can do that. God can do anything!”
27 Jesus olhou atentamente para eles e respondeu: “Para as pessoas isso é impossível, mas não para Deus. Para Deus, tudo é possível”.
28 Peter said to Jesus, “We have left everything to follow you. What about us?”
28 Então Pedro começou a falar: “Deixamos tudo para segui-lo”.

29 Jesus respondeu: “Eu lhes garanto que todos que deixaram casa, irmãos, irmãs, mãe, pai, filhos ou propriedades por minha causa e por causa das boas-novas

30 receberão em troca, neste mundo, cem vezes mais casas, irmãos, irmãs, mães, filhos e propriedades, com perseguição, e, no mundo futuro, terão a vida eterna.
31 And there will come a time when people who are important today will stop being important. And people that are not important today will become the important ones.”
31 Contudo, muitos primeiros serão os últimos, e muitos últimos serão os primeiros”.
32 Jesus was in front of his followers while they were walking along the road to Jerusalem. His close followers were really shocked that he was going there, and the rest of the people following Jesus were frightened.
32 Por esse tempo, subiam para Jerusalém, e Jesus ia à frente. Os discípulos estavam muito admirados, e o povo que os seguia tinha grande temor. Jesus chamou os Doze à parte e, mais uma vez, começou a descrever tudo que estava prestes a lhe acontecer.
33 He said, “We are all going to Jerusalem and someone is going to turn against me. That person will help the Chief Priests and law teachers arrest me. I am God's special man from heaven and the Jewish leaders will take me to their court. Those leaders will say that I am guilty of breaking God's law, and they will say that I have to die. Then those leaders will take me to the Romans.
33 “Ouçam”, disse ele. “Estamos subindo para Jerusalém, onde o Filho do Homem será traído e entregue aos principais sacerdotes e aos mestres da lei. Eles o condenarão à morte e o entregarão aos gentios.
34 Those Roman soldiers will rubbish me and spit on me. They will flog me with a whip and then they will kill me. But after 3 days I will come alive again.”
34 Zombarão dele, cuspirão nele, o açoitarão e o matarão, mas depois de três dias ele ressuscitará.”
35 Then James and John, the 2 sons of Zebedee, went to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we want you to do something for us.”
35 Então Tiago e João, filhos de Zebedeu, vieram e falaram com ele: “Mestre, queremos que nos faça um favor”.
36 Jesus asked them, “What do you want?”
36 “Que favor é esse?”, perguntou ele.
37 They said, “When you are the Lord over everything and sitting on your special seat in heaven, can we 2 brothers sit down next to you? Can one brother sit on your right hand side and the other brother on your left hand side?”
37 Eles responderam: “Quando o senhor se sentar em seu trono glorioso, queremos nos sentar em lugares de honra ao seu lado, um à sua direita e outro à sua esquerda”.
38 Jesus said, “You do not know what you are asking me. People are going to hurt me and give me a really hard time. It will be like I am drinking a cup of poison and I will have too much pain. Do you think that you can have the same troubles and pain that I am going to have?”
38 Jesus lhes disse: “Vocês não sabem o que estão pedindo! São capazes de beber do cálice que beberei? São capazes de ser batizados com o batismo com que serei batizado?”.
39 James and John said, “Yes. We can do that.”
39 “Somos!”, responderam eles. Então Jesus disse: “De fato, vocês beberão do meu cálice e serão batizados com o meu batismo.
40 But I cannot give you what you want. My father in heaven is the one that says who will sit on my right hand side and who will sit on my left hand side.”
40 Não cabe a mim, no entanto, dizer quem se sentará à minha direita ou à minha esquerda. Esses lugares serão daqueles para quem eles foram preparados”.
41 When the other 10 followers heard what James and John asked for, they got really angry.
41 Quando os outros dez discípulos ouviram o que Tiago e João haviam pedido, ficaram indignados.
42 So Jesus called all his followers together and said, “You know the leaders of this world like to be the boss over everyone and tell them what to do all the time.
42 Então Jesus os reuniu e disse: “Vocês sabem que os que são considerados líderes neste mundo têm poder sobre o povo, e que os oficiais exercem sua autoridade sobre os súditos.

43 Entre vocês, porém, será diferente. Quem quiser ser o líder entre vocês, que seja servo,

44 e quem quiser ser o primeiro entre vocês, que se torne escravo de todos.
45 Just like that, I am God's special man that came from heaven, and I did not come here to be the boss and make people work for me. I came here to do a special job for people. I came to give up my life for them and pay for all the wrong things people have done. That way they will be free from blame.”
45 Pois nem mesmo o Filho do Homem veio para ser servido, mas para servir e dar sua vida em resgate por muitos”.
46 On their way to Jerusalem, Jesus and his followers came to a town called Jericho. When they left Jericho, a big crowd of people followed them. A blind man was sitting on the side of the road and he was waiting for people to give him money. The blind man's name was Bart-i-may-us (Bartimaeus) and his father's name was Tim-ay-us (Timaeus).
46 Então chegaram a Jericó. Quando Jesus e seus discípulos saíam da cidade, uma grande multidão os seguiu. Um mendigo cego chamado Bartimeu, filho de Timeu, estava sentado à beira do caminho.
47 When Bart-i-may-us heard that Jesus from Nazareth was coming along the road, he shouted out, “Jesus from King David's family, please help me!” Jesus made Bart-i-may-us see again|src="lll6-22 Jesus healed blind man.tif" size="col" copy="Global Recordings Network ( Australia)" ref="10:47"
47 Quando Bartimeu soube que Jesus de Nazaré estava perto, começou a gritar: “Jesus, Filho de Davi, tenha misericórdia de mim!”.
48 A lot of people growled at the blind man and told him to be quiet. But he would not be quiet, he shouted even louder, “Jesus from King David's family. Please help me!”
48 Muitos lhe diziam aos brados: “Cale-se!”. Ele, porém, gritava ainda mais alto: “Filho de Davi, tenha misericórdia de mim!”.
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Tell him to come to me.” So the people called out to the blind man and said, “Old man, you can be happy now. Jesus is calling for you. Get up and go to him.”
49 Quando Jesus o ouviu, parou e disse: “Falem para ele vir aqui”. Então chamaram o cego. “Anime-se!”, disseram. “Venha, ele o está chamando!”
50 That old man jumped up, he dropped his coat and walked to Jesus.
50 Bartimeu jogou sua capa para o lado, levantou-se de um salto e foi até Jesus.
51 Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
51 “O que você quer que eu lhe faça?”, perguntou Jesus. O cego respondeu: “Rabi,
52 Jesus said to him, “You believe in me and so I will make you better.” Straight away Bart-i-may-us could see again and then he followed Jesus as he walked along the road.
52 Jesus lhe disse: “Vá, pois sua fé o curou”. No mesmo instante, o homem passou a ver e seguiu Jesus pelo caminho.
