1 Some time later, Jacob and Leah's daughter Dinah went to visit some of the women that lived in that country.
1 E Diná, filha de Lia, que ela gerou a Jacó, saiu para ver as filhas da terra.
2 On the way there, Sheckem saw her. Sheckem was the son of Hamor who was the Hivite leader for that country. When Sheckem saw Dinah, he grabbed her and raped her.
2 E quando Siquém, filho de Hamor, o heveu, príncipe da terra, a viu, tomou-a e deitou-se com ela, e a desonrou.
3 But then, Sheckem fell in love with Dinah and said sweet words to her. He wanted her to love him.
3 E sua alma se apegou a Diná, filha de Jacó, e ele amou a donzela, e falou amorosamente à moça.
4 Sheckem went home and said to his father Hamor, “Can you ask Jacob if I can marry Dinah?”
4 E Siquém falou com seu pai, Hamor, dizendo: Toma-me esta donzela por mulher.
5 Dinah went home and told her father what Sheckem did to her. Jacob listened, but he did not say anything until his sons came home from working with their animals.
5 E Jacó ouviu que ele havia desonrado Diná, sua filha; ora, seus filhos estavam com seu gado no campo, e Jacó manteve-se quieto até eles chegarem.
6 While he was waiting for his sons to come home, Hamor and Sheckem came to talk to Jacob.
6 E Hamor, pai de Siquém, saiu para ter com Jacó, para conversar com ele.
7 They were still talking when Jacob's sons came home from their work. When her brothers heard what Sheckem did to Dinah they were very angry. Sheckem had done the wrong thing and shamed all of Israel's family.
7 E os filhos de Jacó vieram do campo quando ouviram sobre isso. E os homens se entristeceram e se iraram muito, pois ele havia feito loucura em Israel ao deitar com a filha de Jacó, coisa que não deveria ter sido feita.
8 Hamor said to Jacob and his sons, “My son Sheckem really loves Dinah. Will you let him marry her?
8 E Hamor conversou com eles, dizendo: A alma de meu filho Siquém anseia por tua filha; suplico-te que lha dês por mulher.
9 And I have an idea. Why don't your daughters and sons marry our sons and daughters?
9 E fazei vós casamentos conosco, e dai vossas filhas a nós, e tomai nossas filhas para vós.
10 Why don't you come and live here with us? You can own your own land and buy and sell things just like we do.”
10 E habitareis conosco, e a terra estará diante de vós; habitai e negociai nela, e adquiri possessão nela.
11 — ausente —
11 E Siquém disse ao pai e aos irmãos dela: Ache eu graça aos vossos olhos, e o que me disserdes eu o darei.
12 — ausente —
12 Pedi-me o quanto mais quiserdes de dote e dádiva, e eu darei de acordo com o que me disserdes, mas dai-me a donzela por mulher.
13 Jacob's sons were thinking about the bad thing that happened to their sister Dinah. So they made up their minds to trick Sheckem and his father Hamor.
13 E os filhos de Jacó responderam a Siquém e a Hamor, seu pai, enganosamente; e disseram, porque ele havia desonrado Diná, sua irmã,
14 Jacob's sons said, “We cannot let you marry our sister. You have not had that young men's ceremony. If we let you marry Dinah, we would all be shamed.
14 e disseram-lhes: Não podemos fazer isso, dar a nossa irmã a alguém incircunciso, pois isso seria uma vergonha para nós.
15 There is only one way we will let you marry Dinah, all your men must have that young men's ceremony. Then we will all be the same.
15 Mas nisto consentiremos convosco: Se fordes como nós somos, que todo homem entre vós seja circuncidado,
16 Then you can marry our women and our men can marry your women and it will be like we are one nation.
16 então daremos nossas filhas a vós, e nós tomaremos vossas filhas para nós, e habitaremos convosco, e nos tornaremos um povo.
17 But if you will not have that young men's ceremony, we will take Jacob's daughter Dinah and leave this country.”
17 Mas se não nos ouvirdes, para serdes circuncidados, então tomaremos nossa filha, e nós iremos embora.
18 Hamor and Sheckem both thought it was a good idea to have that young men's ceremony.
18 E as suas palavras agradaram a Hamor, e a Siquém, filho de Hamor.
19 — ausente —
19 E o jovem não tardou em fazer isto, pois ele tinha prazer na filha de Jacó, e ele era o mais honrável em toda a casa de seu pai.
20 — ausente —
20 E Hamor e Siquém, seu filho, vieram ao portão da sua cidade, e conversaram com os homens da sua cidade, dizendo:
21 They said to the leaders, “These people that have come to live here are very friendly. We think we should let them live with us. We have plenty of room and our sons can marry their daughters and their sons can marry our daughters.
21 Estes homens são pacíficos conosco; por isso, deixai-os habitar na terra e negociar nela, pois a terra, eis que é grande o suficiente para eles; tomaremos as suas filhas para nós por mulheres, e daremos as nossas filhas a eles.
22 But they will only stay here if all our men have their young men's ceremony. If we do that we can be one big mob together.
22 Somente nisto consentirão os homens conosco para habitar entre nós, para sermos um povo: se todo homem entre nós for circuncidado, assim como eles são circuncidados.
23 And, if we agree to do that, they will stay here. All their animals and everything they own will be ours too. Come on, let's do what they ask.”
23 Não serão nossos o seu gado, suas posses e todos os seus animais? Somente consintamos com eles, e habitarão conosco.
24 All the men in the town agreed with Hamor and Sheckem and had the young men's ceremony.
24 E a Hamor e a Siquém, seu filho, ouviram com atenção todos os que saíam do portão da sua cidade. E todo homem foi circuncidado, todos os que saíram do portão da sua cidade.
25 Simeon and Levi, 2 of Jacob's sons and full brothers for Dinah, waited until the 3rd day after all the men had the operation and the men were still in a lot of pain. Then Simeon and Levi picked up their long knives/swords, and they moved quickly into the town and killed all the men.
25 E aconteceu no terceiro dia que, quando eles estavam doloridos, dois dos filhos de Jacó, Simeão e Levi, irmãos de Diná, tomaram cada homem a sua espada, e vieram contra a cidade corajosamente, e mataram todos os homens.
26 They killed Hamor and Sheckem and then took Dinah from Sheckem's house and went home.
26 E eles mataram Hamor e Siquém, seu filho, ao fio da espada, e tomaram Diná da casa de Siquém, e saíram.

27 Os filhos de Jacó vieram aos mortos e saquearam a cidade, porque eles haviam desonrado a sua irmã.
28 — ausente —
28 Tomaram as ovelhas deles, e os bois, e os jumentos, e o que estava na cidade, e o que estava no campo,
29 — ausente —
29 e toda a sua riqueza, e todos os seus pequenos, e suas mulheres eles tomaram cativas, e saquearam tudo o que havia na casa.
30 When they went home, Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have made a lot of trouble for me. All the Canaanite people that live in this country will hate me. What were you thinking? We are only a small family. If the Canaanites and Perizzites gang up and fight us, we will be finished. All my family will die.”
30 E Jacó disse a Simeão e a Levi: Tendes me perturbado para me fazer cheirar mal entre os habitantes da terra, entre os cananeus e ferezeus. Sendo eu pequeno em número, eles se unirão contra mim, e me matarão; e serei destruído, eu e a minha casa.
31 But his sons said, “Sheckem should not have treated our sister like a woman that sleeps with men for money.”
31 E eles disseram: Deveria ele tratar a nossa irmã como a uma prostituta?
