1 Many years later, when Isaac was really old and he could not see very well, he called out to his oldest son. He said, “Esau, my son.”
1 Tendo Isaque envelhecido, seus olhos ficaram tão fracos que ele já não podia enxergar. Certo dia chamou Esaú, seu filho mais velho, e lhe disse: "Meu filho! " Ele respondeu: "Estou aqui".
2 Isaac said, “I am getting really old and I do not know when I will die.
2 Disse-lhe Isaque: "Já estou velho e não sei o dia da minha morte.
3 I want you to go hunting. Take your bow and arrows and get some bush meat for me.
3 Pegue agora suas armas, o arco e a aljava, e vá ao campo caçar alguma coisa para mim.
4 I want you to cook that meat with bush leaves, just the way I like it. Bring it to me and I will eat it and then I will ask God to bless you. I will ask him to be good to you and make you strong. You will get more than anyone else when I die and you will get the promises God made to Abraham and to me. I must do this before I die.”
4 Prepare-me aquela comida saborosa que tanto aprecio e traga-me, para que eu a coma e o abençoe antes de morrer".
5 And so, Esau left his father and went hunting.Esau went hunting to get food for Isaac|src="CO00678b.tif" size="col" copy="David cook" ref="27:5" Isaac did not know that Rebekah was outside and heard what he had said to Esau.
5 Ora, Rebeca estava ouvindo o que Isaque dizia a seu filho Esaú. Quando Esaú saiu ao campo para caçar,

6 Rebeca disse a seu filho Jacó: "Ouvi seu pai dizer a seu irmão Esaú:

7 ‘Traga-me alguma caça e prepare-me aquela comida saborosa, para que eu a coma e o abençoe na presença do Senhor antes de morrer’.
8 Jacob. Do what I tell you.
8 Agora, meu filho, ouça bem e faça o que lhe ordeno:
9 Go and get 2 of our best young goats and bring them here. I will cook them with leaves just the way your father likes to eat his meat.
9 Vá ao rebanho e traga-me dois cabritos escolhidos, para que eu prepare uma comida saborosa para seu pai, como ele aprecia.
10 When it is ready, you can take the food to him and your father will say all the things to you that he was going to say to Esau.”
10 Leve-a então a seu pai, para que ele a coma e o abençoe antes de morrer".
11 Jacob said to his mother, “But Esau is a hairy man and I am not. My skin is smooth.
11 Disse Jacó a Rebeca, sua mãe: "Mas o meu irmão Esaú é homem peludo, e eu tenho a pele lisa.
12 What if my father touches my skin? He will know that I am tricking him and instead of asking God to do good things for me he would ask God to put a curse on me.”
12 E se meu pai me apalpar? Vai parecer que estou tentando enganá-lo, fazendo-o de tolo e, em vez de bênção, trarei sobre mim maldição".
13 Rebekah said to him, “If anything goes wrong, I will take the curse. Go and do what I tell you and get those goats for me!”
13 Disse-lhe sua mãe: "Caia sobre mim a maldição, meu filho. Faça apenas o que eu digo: Vá e traga-os para mim".
14 So, Jacob went and got the goats and took them to his mother. She cooked the meat with bush leaves, just like Isaac liked it.
14 Então ele foi, apanhou-os e os trouxe à sua mãe, que preparou uma comida saborosa, como seu pai apreciava.
15 She went into the house and found Esau's best clothes and put them on Jacob.
15 Rebeca pegou as melhores roupas de Esaú, seu filho mais velho, roupas que tinha em casa, e colocou-as em Jacó, seu filho mais novo.
16 Then she took the skins from the goats and tied them onto Jacob's hands and neck.
16 Depois cobriu-lhe as mãos e a parte lisa do pescoço com as peles dos cabritos,
17 She gave Jacob the tasty meat and the bread that she had made.
17 e por fim entregou a Jacó a refeição saborosa e o pão que tinha feito.
18 Jacob took them and went into his father's room and said, “Father.”
18 Ele se dirigiu ao pai e disse: "Meu pai". Respondeu ele: "Sim, meu filho. Quem é você? "
19 Jacob said, “I am Esau, your oldest son. I have done what you asked me to do. Please sit up and eat this bush meat and then you can ask the Lord to bless me. When you do that, the Lord will do good things for me and make me strong.”
19 Jacó disse a seu pai: "Sou Esaú, seu filho mais velho. Fiz como o senhor me disse. Agora, assente-se e coma do que cacei para que me abençoe".
20 Isaac asked him, “How did you find the meat so quickly?”
20 Isaque perguntou ao filho: "Como encontrou a caça tão depressa, meu filho? " Ele respondeu: "O Senhor, o seu Deus, a colocou no meu caminho".
21 Isaac said to Jacob, “Come here so that I can touch you. Then I will know if you really are Esau or someone else.”
21 Então Isaque disse a Jacó: "Chegue mais perto, meu filho, para que eu possa apalpá-lo e saber se você é realmente meu filho Esaú".
22 — ausente —
22 Jacó aproximou-se do seu pai Isaque, que o apalpou e disse: "A voz é de Jacó, mas os braços são de Esaú".

23 Não o reconheceu, pois seus braços estavam peludos como os de Esaú, seu irmão; e o abençoou.
24 But to make sure, he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?”
24 Isaque perguntou-lhe outra vez: "Você é mesmo meu filho Esaú? " E ele respondeu: "Sou".
25 And so Isaac said, “My son, give me some of that meat and then I will ask God to bless you and do good things for you and make you strong.”
25 Então lhe disse: "Meu filho, traga-me da sua caça para que eu coma e o abençoe". Jacó a trouxe, e o pai comeu; também trouxe vinho, e ele bebeu.
26 Isaac said to Jacob, “Come close to me my son and kiss me.”
26 Então seu pai Isaque lhe disse: "Venha cá, meu filho, dê-me um beijo".
27 Jacob went to Isaac and kissed him. Isaac smelled Esau's clothes that Jacob was wearing and so he blessed him and asked God to do good things for him and make him strong. He said,
27 Ele se aproximou e o beijou. Quando sentiu o cheiro de suas roupas, Isaque o abençoou, dizendo: "Ah, o cheiro de meu filho é como o cheiro de um campo que o Senhor abençoou.
28 I want God to give you good country and good rain.
28 Que Deus lhe conceda do céu o orvalho e da terra a riqueza, com muito cereal e muito vinho.
29 I ask God to make you strong so that you are boss over other nations, and they will bow down to show you respect.
29 Que as nações o sirvam e os povos se curvem diante de você. Seja senhor dos seus irmãos, e curvem-se diante de você os filhos de sua mãe. Malditos sejam os que o amaldiçoarem e benditos sejam os que o abençoarem".
30 Just after Jacob left Isaac's tent, Esau came home from hunting.
30 Quando Isaque acabou de abençoar Jacó, mal tendo ele saído da presença do pai, seu irmão Esaú chegou da caçada.
31 He cooked the meat with bush leaves and took it to his father. He said, “Hello father, I have cooked the meat the way you like it. Sit up and eat it and then you can bless me and ask God to do good things for me and make me strong.”
31 Ele também preparou uma comida saborosa e a trouxe a seu pai. E lhe disse: "Meu pai, levante-se e coma da minha caça, para que o senhor me dê sua bênção".
32 Isaac said, “Who are you?”
32 Perguntou-lhe seu pai Isaque: "Quem é você? " Ele respondeu: "Sou Esaú, seu filho mais velho".
33 Isaac was really frightened and nearly took a fit. He was shaking and said, “Someone just gave me bush meat and I ate it. Who was that? I have just asked God to be good to him and he will take my place after I die. What I asked God for him will come true.”
33 Profundamente abalado, Isaque começou a tremer muito e disse: "Quem então apanhou a caça e a trouxe para mim? Acabei de comê-la antes de você entrar e a ele abençoei; e abençoado ele será! "
34 When Esau heard what Isaac said, he was very upset and started to cry out loud. He said, “My father, can you bless me and ask God to do good things for me too and make me strong?”
34 Quando Esaú ouviu as palavras de seu pai, deu um forte grito e, cheio de amargura, implorou ao pai: "Abençoe também a mim, meu pai! "
35 Isaac answered, “Your brother was the one who gave me the meat. He tricked me and I blessed him. I asked God to be good to him and make him strong. He has taken the special words I was going to say for you.”
35 Mas ele respondeu: "Seu irmão chegou astutamente e recebeu a bênção que pertencia a você".
36 Esau said, “You really did call him the right name. His name means Tricky One and now he has tricked me 2 times. He took my place as head of the family and now he has taken my blessing. Can you bless me too father and ask God to be good to me and make me strong?”
36 E disse Esaú: "Não é com razão que o seu nome é Jacó? Já é a segunda vez que ele me engana! Primeiro, tomou o meu direito de filho mais velho e agora recebeu a minha bênção! " Então perguntou ao pai: "O senhor não reservou nenhuma bênção para mim? "
37 Isaac answered, “Esau, I tell you now that I have made him boss over you. And all our relations will do what he says. I have given him all the food and wine that he needs. I have given him everything. I am sorry but I have nothing to give you.”
37 Isaque respondeu a Esaú: "Eu o constituí senhor sobre você, e a todos os seus parentes tornei servos dele; a ele supri de cereal e de vinho. Que é que eu poderia fazer por você, meu filho? "
38 Esau said, “Please father, can you bless me and ask God to be good to me and make me strong? Can you just say something to make me strong too?” Then he started to cry out loud again.
38 Esaú pediu ao pai: "Meu pai, o senhor tem apenas uma bênção? Abençoe-me também, meu pai! " Então chorou Esaú em alta voz.
39 Isaac answered him and said,
39 Seu pai Isaque respondeu-lhe: "Sua habitação será longe das terras férteis, distante do orvalho que desce do alto céu.
40 You will fight and steal from other people to get food all your life.
40 Você viverá por sua espada e servirá a seu irmão. Mas quando você não suportar mais, arrancará do pescoço o jugo".
41 Esau hated Jacob for tricking their father, and he made up his mind to kill Jacob after his father died. Esau said to himself, “Jacob has stolen my blessing, he has stolen the special words that my father should have said to me!”
41 Esaú guardou rancor contra Jacó por causa da bênção que seu pai lhe dera. E disse a si mesmo: "Os dias de luto pela morte de meu pai estão próximos; então matarei meu irmão Jacó".
42 Rebekah heard about Esau's plan to kill Jacob, and so she called Jacob to come to her. She said, “Listen to me. Your brother Esau is planning to kill you. He wants to pay you back for what you did. If he kills you, he thinks everything will be alright.”
42 Quando contaram a Rebeca o que seu filho Esaú dissera, ela mandou chamar Jacó, seu filho mais novo, e lhe disse: "Esaú está se consolando com a idéia de matá-lo.

43 Ouça, pois, o que lhe digo, meu filho: Fuja imediatamente para a casa de meu irmão Labão, em Harã.
44 — ausente —
44 Fique com ele algum tempo, até que passe o furor de seu irmão.
45 Esau will forget what you did to him, and then I will send a message to you so that you can come back. If he kills you, he might be killed too and I do not want to lose both of my sons on the same day.
45 Quando seu irmão não estiver mais irado contra você e esquecer o que você lhe fez, mandarei buscá-lo. Por que perderia eu vocês dois num só dia? "
46 Rebekah went to see Isaac and said, “I hate those Hittite women that Esau married. If Jacob marries a woman from this country my life will be too hard.”
46 Então Rebeca disse a Isaque: "Estou desgostosa da vida, por causa destas mulheres hititas. Se Jacó escolher esposa entre as mulheres desta terra, entre mulheres hititas como estas, perderei a razão de viver".
