VC Versão Católica
1 In the same way, wives, submit to your own husbands, so that,even if some are disobedient to the word, theywill be won without a word by the way you live
1 — ausente —
2 when they observe your pure and reverent conduct.
2 having witnessed your pure conversation {carried out} in fear;
3 Do not adorn yourselves outwardly with elaborately braided hair, gold jewelry, or fancy clothes.
3 whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;
4 Rather, let your adornment be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable quality of agentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God's sight.
4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible {ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
5 For this is how the holy women who hoped in God adorned themselves in the past, by submitting to their own husbands,
5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You have become her children if you do good and do not give way to fear.
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.
7 Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker partner, since they are heirs with you of thegrace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally, you must all be of one mind, sympathetic, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, andkind.
8 — ausente —
9 Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but, on the contrary, bless,knowing that to this you were called, so that you may inherit a blessing.
9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 For,
10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 — ausente —
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 — ausente —
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 Now who will harm you if you becomeimitators of what is good?
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 But even if you do suffer because of righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear people's threats or be troubled,
15 but sanctifythe Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to make a defense to anyone who asks you for an explanation of the hope you have within you,with gentleness and respect,
16 keeping a clear conscience, so that, whenthose who revile your good conduct in Christ speak against you as evildoers, they may be put to shame.
17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is God's will, than to suffer for doing evil.
18 For Christ alsosuffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, so that he might bringus to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,
19 in which he went and preached to the spirits in prison,
20 who disobeyed long ago when Godwaited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight people, were saved through water.
21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now savesus—not by removing dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to him.
