Jeremias 31

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

At the same time|strong="H6256", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, will I be the God|strong="H0430" of all the families|strong="H4940" of Israel|strong="H3478", and they shall be my people|strong="H5971".

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, The people|strong="H5971" which were left|strong="H8300" of the sword|strong="H2719" found|strong="H4672" grace|strong="H2580" in the wilderness|strong="H4057"; even Israel|strong="H3478", when I went|strong="H1980" to cause him to rest|strong="H7280".

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath appeared|strong="H7200" of old|strong="H7350" unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved|strong="H0157" thee with an everlasting|strong="H5769" love|strong="H0160": therefore with lovingkindness|strong="H2617" have I drawn|strong="H4900" thee.

Again I will build|strong="H1129" thee, and thou shalt be built|strong="H1129", O virgin|strong="H1330" of Israel|strong="H3478": thou shalt again be adorned|strong="H5710" with thy tabrets|strong="H8596", and shalt go forth|strong="H3318" in the dances|strong="H4234" of them that make merry|strong="H7832".

Thou shalt yet plant|strong="H5193" vines|strong="H3754" upon the mountains|strong="H2022" of Samaria|strong="H8111": the planters|strong="H5193" shall plant|strong="H5193", and shall eat them as common things|strong="H2490".

For there shall be|strong="H3426" a day|strong="H3117", that the watchmen|strong="H5341" upon the mount|strong="H2022" Ephraim|strong="H0669" shall cry|strong="H7121", Arise|strong="H6965" ye, and let us go up|strong="H5927" to Zion|strong="H6726" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430".

For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Sing|strong="H7442" with gladness|strong="H8057" for Jacob|strong="H3290", and shout|strong="H6670" among the chief|strong="H7218" of the nations|strong="H1471": publish|strong="H8085" ye, praise|strong="H1984" ye, and say|strong="H0559", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, save|strong="H3467" thy people|strong="H5971", the remnant|strong="H7611" of Israel|strong="H3478".

Behold, I will bring|strong="H0935" them from the north|strong="H6828" country|strong="H0776", and gather|strong="H6908" them from the coasts|strong="H3411" of the earth|strong="H0776", and with them the blind|strong="H5787" and the lame|strong="H6455", the woman with child|strong="H2030" and her that travaileth with child|strong="H3205" together|strong="H3162": a great|strong="H1419" company|strong="H6951" shall return|strong="H7725" thither.

They shall come|strong="H0935" with weeping|strong="H1065", and with supplications|strong="H8469" will I lead|strong="H2986" them: I will cause them to walk|strong="H3212" by the rivers|strong="H5158" of waters|strong="H4325" in a straight|strong="H3477" way|strong="H1870", wherein they shall not stumble|strong="H3782": for I am a father|strong="H0001" to Israel|strong="H3478", and Ephraim|strong="H0669" is my firstborn|strong="H1060".

Hear|strong="H8085" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, O ye nations|strong="H1471", and declare|strong="H5046" it in the isles|strong="H0339" afar off|strong="H4801", and say|strong="H0559", He that scattered|strong="H2219" Israel|strong="H3478" will gather|strong="H6908" him, and keep|strong="H8104" him, as a shepherd|strong="H7462" doth his flock|strong="H5739".

For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath redeemed|strong="H6299" Jacob|strong="H3290", and ransomed|strong="H1350" him from the hand|strong="H3027" of him that was stronger|strong="H2389" than he.

Therefore they shall come|strong="H0935" and sing|strong="H7442" in the height|strong="H4791" of Zion|strong="H6726", and shall flow together|strong="H5102" to the goodness|strong="H2898" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, for wheat|strong="H1715", and for wine|strong="H8492", and for oil|strong="H3323", and for the young|strong="H1121" of the flock|strong="H6629" and of the herd|strong="H1241": and their soul|strong="H5315" shall be as a watered|strong="H7302" garden|strong="H1588"; and they shall not sorrow|strong="H1669" any more|strong="H3254" at all.

Then shall the virgin|strong="H1330" rejoice|strong="H8055" in the dance|strong="H4234", both young men|strong="H0970" and old|strong="H2205" together|strong="H3162": for I will turn|strong="H2015" their mourning|strong="H0060" into joy|strong="H8342", and will comfort|strong="H5162" them, and make them rejoice|strong="H8055" from their sorrow|strong="H3015".

And I will satiate|strong="H7301" the soul|strong="H5315" of the priests|strong="H3548" with fatness|strong="H1880", and my people|strong="H5971" shall be satisfied|strong="H7646" with my goodness|strong="H2898", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; A voice|strong="H6963" was heard|strong="H8085" in Ramah|strong="H7414", lamentation|strong="H5092", and bitter|strong="H8563" weeping|strong="H1065"; Rahel|strong="H7354" weeping|strong="H1058" for her children|strong="H1121" refused|strong="H3985" to be comforted|strong="H5162" for her children|strong="H1121", because they were not.

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Refrain|strong="H4513" thy voice|strong="H6963" from weeping|strong="H1065", and thine eyes|strong="H5869" from tears|strong="H1832": for thy work|strong="H6468" shall be|strong="H3426" rewarded|strong="H7939", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and they shall come again|strong="H7725" from the land|strong="H0776" of the enemy|strong="H0341".

And there is|strong="H3426" hope|strong="H8615" in thine end|strong="H0319", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that thy children|strong="H1121" shall come again|strong="H7725" to their own border|strong="H1366".

I have surely|strong="H8085" heard|strong="H8085" Ephraim|strong="H0669" bemoaning|strong="H5110" himself thus; Thou hast chastised|strong="H3256" me, and I was chastised|strong="H3256", as a bullock|strong="H5695" unaccustomed|strong="H3808" to the yoke: turn|strong="H7725" thou me, and I shall be turned|strong="H7725"; for thou art the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430".

Surely after|strong="H0310" that I was turned|strong="H7725", I repented|strong="H5162"; and after|strong="H0310" that I was instructed|strong="H3045", I smote|strong="H5606" upon my thigh|strong="H3409": I was ashamed|strong="H0954", yea, even confounded|strong="H3637", because I did bear|strong="H5375" the reproach|strong="H2781" of my youth|strong="H5271".

Is Ephraim|strong="H0669" my dear|strong="H3357" son|strong="H1121"? is he a pleasant|strong="H8191" child|strong="H3206"? for since|strong="H1767" I spake|strong="H1696" against him, I do earnestly|strong="H2142" remember|strong="H2142" him still: therefore my bowels|strong="H4578" are troubled|strong="H1993" for him; I will surely|strong="H7355" have mercy|strong="H7355" upon him, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Set thee up|strong="H5324" waymarks|strong="H6725", make|strong="H7760" thee high heaps|strong="H8564": set|strong="H7896" thine heart|strong="H3820" toward the highway|strong="H4546", even the way|strong="H1870" which thou wentest|strong="H1980": turn again|strong="H7725", O virgin|strong="H1330" of Israel|strong="H3478", turn again|strong="H7725" to these thy cities|strong="H5892".

How long wilt thou go about|strong="H2559", O thou backsliding|strong="H7728" daughter|strong="H1323"? for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath created|strong="H1254" a new thing|strong="H2319" in the earth|strong="H0776", A woman|strong="H5347" shall compass|strong="H5437" a man|strong="H1397".

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; As yet they shall use|strong="H0559" this speech|strong="H1697" in the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063" and in the cities|strong="H5892" thereof, when I shall bring again|strong="H7725" their captivity|strong="H7622"; The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* bless|strong="H1288" thee, O habitation|strong="H5116" of justice|strong="H6664", and mountain|strong="H2022" of holiness|strong="H6944".

And there shall dwell|strong="H3427" in Judah|strong="H3063" itself, and in all the cities|strong="H5892" thereof together|strong="H3162", husbandmen|strong="H0406", and they that go forth|strong="H5265" with flocks|strong="H5739".

For I have satiated|strong="H7301" the weary|strong="H5889" soul|strong="H5315", and I have replenished|strong="H4390" every sorrowful|strong="H1669" soul|strong="H5315".

Upon this I awaked|strong="H6974", and beheld|strong="H7200"; and my sleep|strong="H8142" was sweet|strong="H6149" unto me.

Behold, the days|strong="H3117" come|strong="H0935", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that I will sow|strong="H2232" the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478" and the house|strong="H1004" of Judah|strong="H3063" with the seed|strong="H2233" of man|strong="H0120", and with the seed|strong="H2233" of beast|strong="H0929".

And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over|strong="H8245" them, to pluck up|strong="H5428", and to break down|strong="H5422", and to throw down|strong="H2040", and to destroy|strong="H0006", and to afflict|strong="H7489"; so will I watch over|strong="H8245" them, to build|strong="H1129", and to plant|strong="H5193", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

In those days|strong="H3117" they shall say|strong="H0559" no more, The fathers|strong="H0001" have eaten|strong="H0398" a sour grape|strong="H1155", and the children’s|strong="H1121" teeth|strong="H8127" are set on edge|strong="H6949".

But every one|strong="H0376" shall die|strong="H4191" for his own iniquity|strong="H5771": every man|strong="H0120" that eateth|strong="H0398" the sour grape|strong="H1155", his teeth|strong="H8127" shall be set on edge|strong="H6949".

Behold, the days|strong="H3117" come|strong="H0935", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that I will make|strong="H3772" a new|strong="H2319" covenant|strong="H1285" with the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478", and with the house|strong="H1004" of Judah|strong="H3063":

Not according to the covenant|strong="H1285" that I made|strong="H3772" with their fathers|strong="H0001" in the day|strong="H3117" that I took|strong="H2388" them by the hand|strong="H3027" to bring them out|strong="H3318" of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714"; which my covenant|strong="H1285" they brake|strong="H6565", although I was an husband|strong="H1166" unto them, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*:

But this shall be the covenant|strong="H1285" that I will make|strong="H3772" with the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478"; After|strong="H0310" those days|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I will put|strong="H5414" my law|strong="H8451" in their inward parts|strong="H7130", and write|strong="H3789" it in their hearts|strong="H3820"; and will be their God|strong="H0430", and they shall be my people|strong="H5971".

And they shall teach|strong="H3925" no more every man|strong="H0376" his neighbour|strong="H7453", and every man|strong="H0376" his brother|strong="H0251", saying|strong="H0559", Know|strong="H3045" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: for they shall all know|strong="H3045" me, from the least|strong="H6996" of them unto the greatest|strong="H1419" of them, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: for I will forgive|strong="H5545" their iniquity|strong="H5771", and I will remember|strong="H2142" their sin|strong="H2403" no more.

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which giveth|strong="H5414" the sun|strong="H8121" for a light|strong="H0216" by day|strong="H3119", and the ordinances|strong="H2708" of the moon|strong="H3394" and of the stars|strong="H3556" for a light|strong="H0216" by night|strong="H3915", which divideth|strong="H7280" the sea|strong="H3220" when the waves|strong="H1530" thereof roar|strong="H1993"; The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635" is his name|strong="H8034":

If those ordinances|strong="H2706" depart|strong="H4185" from before|strong="H6440" me, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, then the seed|strong="H2233" of Israel|strong="H3478" also shall cease|strong="H7673" from being a nation|strong="H1471" before|strong="H6440" me for ever|strong="H3117".

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; If heaven|strong="H8064" above|strong="H4605" can be measured|strong="H4058", and the foundations|strong="H4146" of the earth|strong="H0776" searched out|strong="H2713" beneath|strong="H4295", I will also cast off|strong="H3988" all the seed|strong="H2233" of Israel|strong="H3478" for all that they have done|strong="H6213", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Behold, the days|strong="H3117" come|strong="H0935", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that the city|strong="H5892" shall be built|strong="H1129" to the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* from the tower|strong="H4026" of Hananeel|strong="H2606" unto the gate|strong="H8179" of the corner|strong="H6438".

And the measuring|strong="H4060" line|strong="H6957" shall yet go forth|strong="H3318" over against it upon the hill|strong="H1389" Gareb|strong="H1619", and shall compass about|strong="H5437" to Goath|strong="H1601".

And the whole valley|strong="H6010" of the dead bodies|strong="H6297", and of the ashes|strong="H1880", and all the fields|strong="H7709" unto the brook|strong="H5158" of Kidron|strong="H6939", unto the corner|strong="H6438" of the horse|strong="H5483" gate|strong="H8179" toward the east|strong="H4217", shall be holy|strong="H6944" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; it shall not be plucked up|strong="H5428", nor thrown down|strong="H2040" any more for ever|strong="H5769".
