1 The word|strong="H1697" that came to Jeremiah|strong="H3414" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in the tenth|strong="H6224" year|strong="H8141" of Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", which was the eighteenth|strong="H8083" year|strong="H8141" of Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019".
2 For then the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon’s|strong="H0894" army|strong="H2428" besieged|strong="H6696" Jerusalem|strong="H3389": and Jeremiah|strong="H3414" the prophet|strong="H5030" was shut up|strong="H3607" in the court|strong="H2691" of the prison|strong="H4307", which was in the king|strong="H4428" of Judah’s|strong="H3063" house|strong="H1004".
3 For Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" had shut him up|strong="H3607", saying|strong="H0559", Wherefore dost thou prophesy|strong="H5012", and say|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Behold, I will give|strong="H5414" this city|strong="H5892" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and he shall take|strong="H3920" it;
4 And Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" shall not escape|strong="H4422" out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", but shall surely|strong="H5414" be delivered|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and shall speak|strong="H1696" with him mouth|strong="H6310" to mouth|strong="H6310", and his eyes|strong="H5869" shall behold|strong="H7200" his eyes|strong="H5869";
5 And he shall lead|strong="H3212" Zedekiah|strong="H6667" to Babylon|strong="H0894", and there shall he be until I visit|strong="H6485" him, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: though ye fight|strong="H3898" with the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", ye shall not prosper|strong="H6743".
6 And Jeremiah|strong="H3414" said|strong="H0559", The word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came unto me, saying|strong="H0559",
7 Behold, Hanameel|strong="H2601" the son|strong="H1121" of Shallum|strong="H7967" thine uncle|strong="H1730" shall come|strong="H0935" unto thee, saying|strong="H0559", Buy|strong="H7069" thee my field|strong="H7704" that is in Anathoth|strong="H6068": for the right|strong="H4941" of redemption|strong="H1353" is thine to buy|strong="H7069" it.
8 So Hanameel|strong="H2601" mine uncle’s|strong="H1730" son|strong="H1121" came|strong="H0935" to me in the court|strong="H2691" of the prison|strong="H4307" according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and said|strong="H0559" unto me, Buy|strong="H7069" my field|strong="H7704", I pray thee, that is in Anathoth|strong="H6068", which is in the country|strong="H0776" of Benjamin|strong="H1144": for the right|strong="H4941" of inheritance|strong="H3425" is thine, and the redemption|strong="H1353" is thine; buy|strong="H7069" it for thyself. Then I knew|strong="H3045" that this was the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
9 And I bought|strong="H7069" the field|strong="H7704" of Hanameel|strong="H2601" my uncle’s|strong="H1730" son|strong="H1121", that was in Anathoth|strong="H6068", and weighed|strong="H8254" him the money|strong="H3701", even seventeen|strong="H7651" shekels|strong="H8255" of silver|strong="H3701".
10 And I subscribed|strong="H3789" the evidence|strong="H5612", and sealed|strong="H2856" it, and took|strong="H5749" witnesses|strong="H5707", and weighed|strong="H8254" him the money|strong="H3701" in the balances|strong="H3976".
11 So I took|strong="H3947" the evidence|strong="H5612" of the purchase|strong="H4736", both that which was sealed|strong="H2856" according to the law|strong="H4687" and custom|strong="H2706", and that which was open|strong="H1540":
12 And I gave|strong="H5414" the evidence|strong="H5612" of the purchase|strong="H4736" unto Baruch|strong="H1263" the son|strong="H1121" of Neriah|strong="H5374", the son|strong="H1121" of Maaseiah|strong="H4271", in the sight|strong="H5869" of Hanameel|strong="H2601" mine uncle’s|strong="H1730" son, and in the presence|strong="H5869" of the witnesses|strong="H5707" that subscribed|strong="H3789" the book|strong="H5612" of the purchase|strong="H4736", before|strong="H5869" all the Jews|strong="H3064" that sat|strong="H3427" in the court|strong="H2691" of the prison|strong="H4307".
13 And I charged|strong="H6680" Baruch|strong="H1263" before|strong="H5869" them, saying|strong="H0559",
14 Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; Take|strong="H3947" these evidences|strong="H5612", this evidence|strong="H5612" of the purchase|strong="H4736", both which is sealed|strong="H2856", and this evidence|strong="H5612" which is open|strong="H1540"; and put|strong="H5414" them in an earthen|strong="H2789" vessel|strong="H3627", that they may continue|strong="H5975" many|strong="H7227" days|strong="H3117".
15 For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; Houses|strong="H1004" and fields|strong="H7704" and vineyards|strong="H3754" shall be possessed again|strong="H7069" in this land|strong="H0776".
16 Now when|strong="H0310" I had delivered|strong="H5414" the evidence|strong="H5612" of the purchase|strong="H4736" unto Baruch|strong="H1263" the son|strong="H1121" of Neriah|strong="H5374", I prayed|strong="H6419" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, saying|strong="H0559",
17 Ah|strong="H0162" Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*! behold, thou hast made|strong="H6213" the heaven|strong="H8064" and the earth|strong="H0776" by thy great|strong="H1419" power|strong="H3581" and stretched out|strong="H5186" arm|strong="H2220", and there is nothing|strong="H1697" too hard|strong="H6381" for thee:
18 Thou shewest|strong="H6213" lovingkindness|strong="H2617" unto thousands|strong="H0505", and recompensest|strong="H7999" the iniquity|strong="H5771" of the fathers|strong="H0001" into the bosom|strong="H2436" of their children|strong="H1121" after|strong="H0310" them: the Great|strong="H1419", the Mighty|strong="H1368" God|strong="H0410", the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", is his name|strong="H8034",
19 Great|strong="H1419" in counsel|strong="H6098", and mighty|strong="H7227" in work|strong="H5950": for thine eyes|strong="H5869" are open|strong="H6491" upon all the ways|strong="H1870" of the sons|strong="H1121" of men|strong="H0120": to give|strong="H5414" every one|strong="H0376" according to his ways|strong="H1870", and according to the fruit|strong="H6529" of his doings|strong="H4611":
20 Which hast set|strong="H7760" signs|strong="H0226" and wonders|strong="H4159" in the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714", even unto this day|strong="H3117", and in Israel|strong="H3478", and among other men|strong="H0120"; and hast made|strong="H6213" thee a name|strong="H8034", as at this day|strong="H3117";
21 And hast brought forth|strong="H3318" thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" with signs|strong="H0226", and with wonders|strong="H4159", and with a strong|strong="H2389" hand|strong="H3027", and with a stretched out|strong="H5186" arm|strong="H0248", and with great|strong="H1419" terror|strong="H4172";
22 And hast given|strong="H5414" them this land|strong="H0776", which thou didst swear|strong="H7650" to their fathers|strong="H0001" to give|strong="H5414" them, a land|strong="H0776" flowing|strong="H2100" with milk|strong="H2461" and honey|strong="H1706";
23 And they came in|strong="H0935", and possessed|strong="H3423" it; but they obeyed|strong="H8085" not thy voice|strong="H6963", neither walked|strong="H1980" in thy law|strong="H8451"; they have done|strong="H6213" nothing of all that thou commandedst|strong="H6680" them to do|strong="H6213": therefore thou hast caused all this evil|strong="H7451" to come|strong="H7122" upon them:
24 Behold the mounts|strong="H5550", they are come|strong="H0935" unto the city|strong="H5892" to take|strong="H3920" it; and the city|strong="H5892" is given|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", that fight|strong="H3898" against it, because|strong="H6440" of the sword|strong="H2719", and of the famine|strong="H7458", and of the pestilence|strong="H1698": and what thou hast spoken|strong="H1696" is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest|strong="H7200" it.
25 And thou hast said|strong="H0559" unto me, O Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, Buy|strong="H7069" thee the field|strong="H7704" for money|strong="H3701", and take|strong="H5749" witnesses|strong="H5707"; for the city|strong="H5892" is given|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778".
26 Then came the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* unto Jeremiah|strong="H3414", saying|strong="H0559",
27 Behold, I am the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the God|strong="H0430" of all flesh|strong="H1320": is there any thing|strong="H1697" too hard|strong="H6381" for me?
28 Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Behold, I will give|strong="H5414" this city|strong="H5892" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and he shall take|strong="H3920" it:
29 And the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", that fight|strong="H3898" against this city|strong="H5892", shall come|strong="H0935" and set|strong="H3341" fire|strong="H0784" on this city|strong="H5892", and burn|strong="H8313" it with the houses|strong="H1004", upon whose roofs|strong="H1406" they have offered incense|strong="H6999" unto Baal|strong="H1168", and poured out|strong="H5258" drink offerings|strong="H5262" unto other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430", to provoke me to anger|strong="H3707".
30 For the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" and the children|strong="H1121" of Judah|strong="H3063" have only done|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" before|strong="H5869" me from their youth|strong="H5271": for the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" have only provoked me to anger|strong="H3707" with the work|strong="H4639" of their hands|strong="H3027", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
31 For this city|strong="H5892" hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger|strong="H0639" and of my fury|strong="H2534" from the day|strong="H3117" that they built|strong="H1129" it even unto this day|strong="H3117"; that I should remove|strong="H5493" it from before my face|strong="H6440",
32 Because of all the evil|strong="H7451" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" and of the children|strong="H1121" of Judah|strong="H3063", which they have done|strong="H6213" to provoke me to anger|strong="H3707", they, their kings|strong="H4428", their princes|strong="H8269", their priests|strong="H3548", and their prophets|strong="H5030", and the men|strong="H0376" of Judah|strong="H3063", and the inhabitants|strong="H3427" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
33 And they have turned|strong="H6437" unto me the back|strong="H6203", and not the face|strong="H6440": though I taught|strong="H3925" them, rising up early|strong="H7925" and teaching|strong="H3925" them, yet they have not hearkened|strong="H8085" to receive|strong="H3947" instruction|strong="H4148".
34 But they set|strong="H7760" their abominations|strong="H8251" in the house|strong="H1004", which is called|strong="H7121" by my name|strong="H8034", to defile|strong="H2930" it.
35 And they built|strong="H1129" the high places|strong="H1116" of Baal|strong="H1168", which are in the valley|strong="H1516" of the son|strong="H1121" of Hinnom|strong="H2011", to cause their sons|strong="H1121" and their daughters|strong="H1323" to pass|strong="H5674" through the fire unto Molech|strong="H4432"; which I commanded|strong="H6680" them not, neither came|strong="H5927" it into my mind|strong="H3820", that they should do|strong="H6213" this abomination|strong="H8441", to cause Judah|strong="H3063" to sin|strong="H2398".
36 And now therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", concerning this city|strong="H5892", whereof ye say|strong="H0559", It shall be delivered|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" by the sword|strong="H2719", and by the famine|strong="H7458", and by the pestilence|strong="H1698";
37 Behold, I will gather them out|strong="H6908" of all countries|strong="H0776", whither I have driven|strong="H5080" them in mine anger|strong="H0639", and in my fury|strong="H2534", and in great|strong="H1419" wrath|strong="H7110"; and I will bring them again|strong="H7725" unto this place|strong="H4725", and I will cause them to dwell|strong="H3427" safely|strong="H0983":
38 And they shall be my people|strong="H5971", and I will be their God|strong="H0430":
39 And I will give|strong="H5414" them one|strong="H0259" heart|strong="H3820", and one|strong="H0259" way|strong="H1870", that they may fear|strong="H3372" me for ever|strong="H3117", for the good|strong="H2896" of them, and of their children|strong="H1121" after|strong="H0310" them:
40 And I will make|strong="H3772" an everlasting|strong="H5769" covenant|strong="H1285" with them, that I will not turn away|strong="H7725" from them|strong="H0310", to do them good|strong="H3190"; but I will put|strong="H5414" my fear|strong="H3374" in their hearts|strong="H3824", that they shall not depart|strong="H5493" from me.
41 Yea, I will rejoice|strong="H7797" over them to do them good|strong="H2895", and I will plant|strong="H5193" them in this land|strong="H0776" assuredly|strong="H0571" with my whole heart|strong="H3820" and with my whole soul|strong="H5315".
42 For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Like as I have brought|strong="H0935" all this great|strong="H1419" evil|strong="H7451" upon this people|strong="H5971", so will I bring|strong="H0935" upon them all the good|strong="H2896" that I have promised|strong="H1696" them.
43 And fields|strong="H7704" shall be bought|strong="H7069" in this land|strong="H0776", whereof ye say|strong="H0559", It is desolate|strong="H8077" without man|strong="H0120" or beast|strong="H0929"; it is given|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778".
44 Men shall buy|strong="H7069" fields|strong="H7704" for money|strong="H3701", and subscribe|strong="H3789" evidences|strong="H5612", and seal|strong="H2856" them, and take|strong="H5749" witnesses|strong="H5707" in the land|strong="H0776" of Benjamin|strong="H1144", and in the places about|strong="H5439" Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and in the cities|strong="H5892" of Judah|strong="H3063", and in the cities|strong="H5892" of the mountains|strong="H2022", and in the cities|strong="H5892" of the valley|strong="H8219", and in the cities|strong="H5892" of the south|strong="H5045": for I will cause their captivity|strong="H7622" to return|strong="H7725", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
