1 Três dias depois de chegar à província, Festo subiu de Cesaréia para Jerusalém,
2 Then|strong="G1161" the high priest|strong="G0749" and|strong="G2532" the chief|strong="G4413" of the Jews|strong="G2453" informed|strong="G1718" him|strong="G0846" against|strong="G2596" Paul|strong="G3972", and|strong="G2532" besought|strong="G3870" him|strong="G0846",
2 onde os chefes dos sacerdotes e os judeus mais importantes compareceram diante dele, apresentando as acusações contra Paulo.
3 And desired|strong="G0154" favour|strong="G5485" against|strong="G2596" him|strong="G0846", that|strong="G3704" he would send for|strong="G3343" him|strong="G0846" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", laying|strong="G4160" wait|strong="G1747" in|strong="G2596" the way|strong="G3598" to kill|strong="G0337" him|strong="G0846".
3 Pediram a Festo o favor de transferir Paulo para Jerusalém, contra os interesses do próprio Paulo, pois estavam preparando uma emboscada para matá-lo no caminho.
4 But|strong="G3767" Festus|strong="G5347" answered|strong="G0611", that Paul|strong="G3972" should|strong="G3195" be kept|strong="G5083" at|strong="G1722" Cæsarea|strong="G2542", and|strong="G1161" that he himself|strong="G1438" would depart|strong="G1607" shortly|strong="G5034" thither.
4 Festo respondeu: "Paulo está preso em Cesaréia, e eu mesmo vou para lá em breve.
5 Let them|strong="G3588" therefore|strong="G3767", said he|strong="G5346", which|strong="G3588" among|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5213" are able|strong="G1415", go down with|strong="G4782" me, and accuse|strong="G0846" this|strong="G2723" man|strong="G5129", if|strong="G1487" there be|strong="G2076" any|strong="G5100" wickedness|strong="G1722" in|strong="G3588" him|strong="G0846".
5 Desçam comigo alguns dos seus líderes e apresentem ali as acusações que têm contra esse homem, se realmente ele fez algo de errado".
6 And|strong="G1161" when he had tarried|strong="G1304" among|strong="G1722" them|strong="G0846" more|strong="G4119" than|strong="G2228" ten|strong="G1176" days|strong="G2250", he went down|strong="G2597" unto|strong="G1519" Cæsarea|strong="G2542"; and the next day|strong="G1887" sitting|strong="G2523" on|strong="G1909" the judgment seat|strong="G0968" commanded|strong="G2753" Paul|strong="G3972" to be brought|strong="G0071".
6 Tendo passado com eles oito a dez dias, desceu para Cesaréia e, no dia seguinte, convocou o tribunal e ordenou que Paulo fosse trazido perante ele.
7 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G3854" he|strong="G0846" was come|strong="G3854", the Jews|strong="G2453" which|strong="G3588" came down|strong="G2597" from|strong="G0575" Jerusalem|strong="G2414" stood round about|strong="G4026", and laid|strong="G5342" many|strong="G4183" and|strong="G2532" grievous|strong="G0926" complaints|strong="G0157" against|strong="G2596" Paul|strong="G3972", which|strong="G3739" they could|strong="G2480" not|strong="G3756" prove|strong="G0584".
7 Quando Paulo apareceu, os judeus que tinham chegado de Jerusalém se aglomeraram ao seu redor, fazendo contra ele muitas e graves acusações que não podiam provar.
8 While|strong="G3754" he answered|strong="G0626" for himself|strong="G0846", Neither|strong="G3777" against|strong="G1519" the law|strong="G3551" of the Jews|strong="G2453", neither|strong="G3777" against|strong="G1519" the temple|strong="G2411", nor yet|strong="G3777" against|strong="G1519" Cæsar|strong="G2541", have I offended|strong="G0264" any thing at all|strong="G5100".
8 Então Paulo fez sua defesa: "Nada fiz de errado contra a lei dos judeus, contra o templo ou contra César".
9 But|strong="G1161" Festus|strong="G5347", willing|strong="G2309" to do|strong="G2698" the Jews|strong="G2453" a pleasure|strong="G5485", answered|strong="G0611" Paul|strong="G3972", and said|strong="G2036", Wilt thou|strong="G2309" go up|strong="G0305" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", and there|strong="G1563" be judged|strong="G2919" of|strong="G4012" these things|strong="G5130" before|strong="G1909" me|strong="G1700"?
9 Festo, querendo prestar um favor aos judeus, perguntou a Paulo: "Você está disposto a ir a Jerusalém e ali ser julgado diante de mim, acerca destas acusações? "
10 Then|strong="G1161" said|strong="G2036" Paul|strong="G3972", I|strong="G1510" stand|strong="G2476" at|strong="G1909" Cæsar’s|strong="G2541" judgment seat|strong="G0968", where|strong="G3757" I|strong="G3165" ought|strong="G1163" to be judged|strong="G2919": to the Jews|strong="G2453" have I done|strong="G0091" no|strong="G3762" wrong|strong="G0091", as|strong="G5613" thou|strong="G4771" very well|strong="G2566" knowest|strong="G1921".
10 Paulo respondeu: "Estou agora diante do tribunal de César, onde devo ser julgado. Não fiz nenhum mal aos judeus, como bem sabes.
11 For|strong="G1063" if|strong="G1487" I be an offender|strong="G0091", or|strong="G2532" have committed|strong="G4238" any thing|strong="G5100" worthy|strong="G0514" of death|strong="G2288", I refuse|strong="G3868" not|strong="G3756" to die|strong="G0599": but|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" there be|strong="G2076" none|strong="G3762" of these things whereof|strong="G3739" these|strong="G3778" accuse|strong="G2723" me|strong="G3450", no man|strong="G3762" may|strong="G1410" deliver|strong="G5483" me|strong="G3165" unto them|strong="G0846". I appeal unto|strong="G1941" Cæsar|strong="G2541".
11 Se, de fato, sou culpado de ter feito algo que mereça pena de morte, não me recuso a morrer. Mas se as acusações feitas contra mim por estes judeus não são verdadeiras, ninguém tem o direito de me entregar a eles. Apelo para César! "
12 Then|strong="G5119" Festus|strong="G5347", when he had conferred|strong="G4814" with|strong="G3326" the council|strong="G4824", answered|strong="G0611", Hast thou appealed|strong="G1941" unto Cæsar|strong="G2541"? unto|strong="G1909" Cæsar|strong="G2541" shalt thou go|strong="G4198".
12 Depois de ter consultado seus conselheiros, Festo declarou: "Você apelou para César, para César irá! "

13 Alguns dias depois, o rei Agripa e Berenice chegaram a Cesaréia para saudar Festo.
14 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" they had been|strong="G1304" there|strong="G1563" many|strong="G4119" days|strong="G2250", Festus|strong="G5347" declared|strong="G0394" Paul’s|strong="G3972" cause|strong="G2596" unto the king|strong="G0935", saying|strong="G3004", There is|strong="G2076" a certain|strong="G5100" man|strong="G0435" left|strong="G2641" in bonds|strong="G1198" by|strong="G5259" Felix|strong="G5344":
14 Visto que estavam passando muitos dias ali, Festo explicou o caso de Paulo ao rei: "Há aqui um homem que Félix deixou preso.
15 About|strong="G4012" whom|strong="G3739", when I|strong="G3450" was|strong="G1096" at|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", the chief priests|strong="G0749" and|strong="G2532" the elders|strong="G4245" of the Jews|strong="G2453" informed|strong="G1718" me, desiring|strong="G0154" to have judgment|strong="G1349" against|strong="G2596" him|strong="G0846".
15 Quando fui a Jerusalém, os chefes dos sacerdotes e os líderes dos judeus fizeram acusações contra ele, pedindo que fosse condenado.
16 To|strong="G4314" whom|strong="G3739" I answered|strong="G0611", It is|strong="G2076" not|strong="G3756" the manner|strong="G1485" of the Romans|strong="G4514" to deliver|strong="G5483" any|strong="G5100" man|strong="G0444" to|strong="G1519" die|strong="G0684", before|strong="G4250" that|strong="G2228" he which|strong="G3588" is accused|strong="G2723" have|strong="G2192" the accusers|strong="G2725" face|strong="G4383" to|strong="G2596" face|strong="G4383", and|strong="G5037" have|strong="G2983" licence|strong="G5117" to answer for himself|strong="G0627" concerning|strong="G4012" the crime laid against him|strong="G1462".
16 "Eu lhes disse que não é costume romano condenar ninguém antes que ele se defronte pessoalmente com seus acusadores e tenha a oportunidade de se defender das acusações que lhe fazem.
17 Therefore|strong="G3767", when they|strong="G0846" were come|strong="G4905" hither|strong="G1759", without|strong="G3367" any delay|strong="G0311" on the morrow|strong="G1836" I sat|strong="G2523" on|strong="G1909" the judgment seat|strong="G0968", and commanded|strong="G2753" the man|strong="G0435" to be brought forth|strong="G0071".
17 Vindo eles comigo para cá, não retardei o caso; convoquei o tribunal no dia seguinte e ordenei que o homem fosse apresentado.
18 Against|strong="G4012" whom|strong="G3739" when the accusers|strong="G2725" stood up|strong="G2476", they brought|strong="G2018" none|strong="G3762" accusation|strong="G0156" of such things|strong="G3739" as I|strong="G1473" supposed|strong="G5282":
18 Quando os seus acusadores se levantaram para falar, não o acusaram de nenhum dos crimes que eu esperava.
19 But|strong="G1161" had|strong="G2192" certain|strong="G5100" questions|strong="G2213" against|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846" of|strong="G4012" their own|strong="G2398" superstition|strong="G1175", and|strong="G2532" of|strong="G4012" one|strong="G5100" Jesus|strong="G2424", which was dead|strong="G2348", whom|strong="G3739" Paul|strong="G3972" affirmed|strong="G5335" to be alive|strong="G2198".
19 Pelo contrário, tinham alguns pontos de divergência com ele acerca de sua própria religião e de um certo Jesus, já morto, o qual Paulo insiste que está vivo.
20 And|strong="G1161" because|strong="G0639" I|strong="G1473" doubted|strong="G0639" of|strong="G1519" such|strong="G4012" manner|strong="G5127" of questions|strong="G2214", I asked|strong="G3004" him whether|strong="G1487" he would|strong="G1014" go|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", and there|strong="G2546" be judged|strong="G2919" of|strong="G4012" these matters|strong="G5130".
20 Fiquei sem saber como investigar tais assuntos; por isso perguntei-lhe se ele estaria disposto a ir a Jerusalém e ser julgado ali acerca destas acusações.
21 But|strong="G1161" when Paul|strong="G3972" had appealed|strong="G1941" to be reserved|strong="G5083" unto|strong="G1519" the hearing|strong="G1233" of Augustus|strong="G4575", I commanded|strong="G2753" him|strong="G0846" to be kept|strong="G5083" till|strong="G2193" I might send|strong="G3992" him|strong="G0846" to|strong="G4314" Cæsar|strong="G2541".
21 Apelando Paulo para que fosse guardado até a decisão do Imperador, ordenei que ficasse sob custódia até que eu pudesse enviá-lo a César".
22 Then|strong="G1161" Agrippa|strong="G0067" said|strong="G5346" unto|strong="G4314" Festus|strong="G5347", I would|strong="G1014" also|strong="G2532" hear|strong="G0191" the man|strong="G0444" myself|strong="G0846". To morrow|strong="G0839", said he|strong="G5346", thou shalt hear|strong="G0191" him|strong="G0846".
22 Então Agripa disse a Festo: "Eu também gostaria de ouvir esse homem". Ele respondeu: "Amanhã o ouvirás".
23 And|strong="G3767" on the morrow|strong="G1887", when Agrippa|strong="G0067" was come|strong="G2064", and|strong="G2532" Bernice|strong="G0959", with|strong="G3326" great|strong="G4183" pomp|strong="G5325", and|strong="G2532" was entered|strong="G1525" into|strong="G1519" the place of hearing|strong="G0201", with|strong="G4862" the chief captains|strong="G5506", and|strong="G2532" principal|strong="G1851" men|strong="G0435" of the city|strong="G4172", at|strong="G2596" Festus’|strong="G5347" commandment|strong="G2753" Paul|strong="G3972" was brought forth|strong="G0071".
23 No dia seguinte, Agripa e Berenice vieram com grande pompa e entraram na sala de audiências com os altos oficiais e os homens importantes da cidade. Por ordem de Festo, Paulo foi trazido.
24 And|strong="G2532" Festus|strong="G5347" said|strong="G5346", King|strong="G0935" Agrippa|strong="G0067", and|strong="G2532" all men|strong="G3956" which|strong="G3588" are here present|strong="G4840" with us|strong="G2254", ye see|strong="G2334" this|strong="G5126" man|strong="G0435", about|strong="G4012" whom|strong="G3739" all|strong="G3956" the multitude|strong="G4128" of the Jews|strong="G2453" have dealt|strong="G1793" with me|strong="G3427", both|strong="G5037" at|strong="G1722" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", and|strong="G2532" also here|strong="G1759", crying that|strong="G1916" he|strong="G0846" ought|strong="G1163" not|strong="G3361" to live|strong="G2198" any longer|strong="G3371".
24 Então Festo disse: "Ó rei Agripa e todos os senhores aqui presentes conosco, vejam este homem! Toda a comunidade judaica me fez petições a respeito dele em Jerusalém e aqui em Cesaréia, gritando que ele não deveria mais viver.
25 But|strong="G1161" when I|strong="G1473" found|strong="G2638" that he|strong="G0846" had committed|strong="G4238" nothing|strong="G3367" worthy|strong="G0514" of death|strong="G2288", and|strong="G2532" that he|strong="G5127" himself|strong="G0846" hath appealed to|strong="G1941" Augustus|strong="G4575", I have determined|strong="G2919" to send|strong="G3992" him|strong="G0846".
25 Mas verifiquei que ele nada fez que mereça pena de morte; todavia, porque apelou para o Imperador, decidi enviá-lo a Roma.
26 Of|strong="G4012" whom|strong="G3739" I have|strong="G2192" no|strong="G3756" certain|strong="G0804" thing|strong="G5100" to write|strong="G1125" unto my lord|strong="G2962". 26 No entanto, não tenho nada definido a respeito dele para escrever a Sua Majestade. Por isso, eu o trouxe diante dos senhores, e especialmente diante de ti, rei Agripa, de forma que, feita esta investigação, eu tenha algo para escrever.
27 For|strong="G1063" it seemeth|strong="G1380" to me|strong="G3427" unreasonable|strong="G0249" to send|strong="G3992" a prisoner|strong="G1198", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3361" withal to signify|strong="G4591" the crimes|strong="G0156" laid against|strong="G2596" him|strong="G0846".
