6 "Por volta do meio-dia, eu me aproximava de Damasco, quando de repente uma forte luz vinda do céu brilhou ao meu redor.

7 Caí por terra e ouvi uma voz que me dizia: ‘Saulo, Saulo! por que você está me perseguindo? ’

8 Então perguntei: Quem és tu, Senhor? E ele respondeu: ‘Eu sou Jesus, o Nazareno, a quem você persegue’.

9 Os que me acompanhavam viram a luz, mas não entenderam a voz daquele que falava comigo.

10 "Assim perguntei: Que devo fazer, Senhor? Disse o Senhor: ‘Levante-se, entre em Damasco, onde lhe será dito o que você deve fazer’.

11 Os que estavam comigo me levaram pela mão até Damasco, porque o resplendor da luz me deixara cego.

12 "Um homem chamado Ananias, piedoso segundo a lei e muito respeitado por todos os judeus que ali viviam,
13 Came|strong="G2064" unto|strong="G4314" me|strong="G3165", and|strong="G2532" stood|strong="G2186", and said|strong="G2036" unto me|strong="G3427", Brother|strong="G0080" Saul|strong="G4549", receive thy sight|strong="G0308". 13 veio ver-me e, pondo-se junto a mim, disse: ‘Irmão Saulo, recupere a visão’. Naquele mesmo instante pude vê-lo.

14 "Então ele disse: ‘O Deus dos nossos antepassados o escolheu para conhecer a sua vontade, ver o Justo e ouvir as palavras de sua boca.

15 Você será testemunha dele a todos os homens, daquilo que viu e ouviu.
16 And|strong="G2532" now|strong="G3568" why|strong="G5101" tarriest thou|strong="G3195"? arise|strong="G0450", and be baptized|strong="G0907", and|strong="G2532" wash away|strong="G0628" thy|strong="G4675" sins|strong="G0266", calling on|strong="G1941" the name|strong="G3686" of the Lord|strong="G2962".
16 E agora, que está esperando? Levante-se, seja batizado e lave os seus pecados, invocando o nome dele’.

17 "Quando voltei a Jerusalém, estando eu a orar no templo, caí em êxtase e

18 vi o Senhor que me dizia: ‘Depressa! Saia de Jerusalém imediatamente, pois não aceitarão seu testemunho a meu respeito’.
19 And I|strong="G2504" said|strong="G2036", Lord|strong="G2962", they|strong="G0846" know|strong="G1987" that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" imprisoned|strong="G5439" and|strong="G2532" beat|strong="G1194" in every|strong="G2596" synagogue|strong="G4864" them that|strong="G3588" believed|strong="G4100" on|strong="G1909" thee|strong="G4571":
19 "Eu respondi: Senhor, estes homens sabem que eu ia de uma sinagoga a outra, a fim de prender e açoitar os que crêem em ti.
20 And|strong="G2532" when|strong="G3753" the blood|strong="G0129" of thy|strong="G4675" martyr|strong="G3144" Stephen|strong="G4736" was shed|strong="G1632", I|strong="G0846" also|strong="G2532" was|strong="G2252" standing by|strong="G2186", and|strong="G2532" consenting unto|strong="G4909" his|strong="G0846" death|strong="G0336", and|strong="G2532" kept|strong="G5442" the raiment|strong="G2440" of them|strong="G3588" that slew|strong="G0337" him|strong="G0846".
20 E quando foi derramado o sangue de tua testemunha Estêvão, eu estava lá, dando minha aprovação e cuidando das roupas dos que o matavam.

21 "Então o Senhor me disse: ‘Vá, eu o enviarei para longe, aos gentios’ ".
22 And|strong="G1161" they gave|strong="G0191" him|strong="G0846" audience|strong="G0191" unto|strong="G0891" this|strong="G5127" word|strong="G3056", and|strong="G2532" then lifted up|strong="G1869" their|strong="G0846" voices|strong="G5456", and said|strong="G3004", Away with|strong="G0142" such a|strong="G5108" fellow from|strong="G0575" the earth|strong="G1093": for|strong="G1063" it is|strong="G2520" not|strong="G3756" fit|strong="G2520" that he|strong="G0846" should live|strong="G2198".
22 A multidão ouvia Paulo até que ele disse isso. Então todos levantaram a voz e gritaram: "Tira esse homem da face da terra! Ele não merece viver! "

24 o comandante ordenou que Paulo fosse levado à fortaleza e fosse açoitado e interrogado, para saber por que o povo gritava daquela forma contra ele.
25 And|strong="G1161" as|strong="G5613" they bound|strong="G4385" him|strong="G0846" with thongs|strong="G2438", Paul|strong="G3972" said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" the centurion|strong="G1543" that|strong="G3588" stood by|strong="G2476", Is it lawful|strong="G1832" for you|strong="G5213" to scourge|strong="G3147" a man|strong="G0444" that is a Roman|strong="G4514", and|strong="G2532" uncondemned|strong="G0178"?
25 Enquanto o amarravam a fim de açoitá-lo, Paulo disse ao centurião que ali estava: "Vocês têm o direito de açoitar um cidadão romano sem que ele tenha sido condenado? "
26 When|strong="G1161" the centurion|strong="G1543" heard|strong="G0191" that, he went|strong="G4334" and told|strong="G0518" the chief captain|strong="G5506", saying|strong="G3004", Take heed|strong="G3708" what|strong="G5101" thou doest|strong="G4160": for|strong="G1063" this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G0444" is|strong="G2076" a Roman|strong="G4514".
26 Ao ouvir isso, o centurião foi prevenir o comandante: "Que vais fazer? Este homem é cidadão romano".
27 Then|strong="G1161" the chief captain|strong="G5506" came|strong="G4334", and said|strong="G2036" unto him|strong="G0846", Tell|strong="G3004" me|strong="G3427", art|strong="G1488" thou|strong="G4771" a Roman|strong="G4514"? He said|strong="G5346", Yea|strong="G3483".
27 O comandante dirigiu-se a Paulo e perguntou: "Diga-me, você é cidadão romano? " Ele respondeu: "Sim, sou".
28 And|strong="G5037" the chief captain|strong="G5506" answered|strong="G0611", With a great|strong="G4183" sum|strong="G2774" obtained|strong="G2932" I|strong="G1473" this|strong="G3778" freedom|strong="G4174". 28 Então o comandante disse: "Eu precisei pagar um elevado preço por minha cidadania". Respondeu Paulo: "Eu a tenho por direito de nascimento".

29 Os que iam interrogá-lo retiraram-se imediatamente. O próprio comandante ficou alarmado, ao saber que havia prendido um cidadão romano.

30 No dia seguinte, visto que o comandante queria descobrir exatamente por que Paulo estava sendo acusado pelos judeus, libertou-o e ordenou que se reunissem os chefes dos sacerdotes e todo o Sinédrio. Então, trazendo Paulo, apresentou-o a eles.
