2 (And|strong="G1161" when they heard|strong="G0191" that|strong="G3754" he spake|strong="G4377" in the Hebrew|strong="G1446" tongue|strong="G1258" to them|strong="G0846", they kept|strong="G3930" the more|strong="G3123" silence|strong="G2271": and|strong="G2532" he saith|strong="G5346",)
3 I|strong="G1473" am|strong="G1510" verily|strong="G3303" a man|strong="G0435" which am a Jew|strong="G2453", born|strong="G1080" in|strong="G1722" Tarsus|strong="G5019", a city in Cilicia|strong="G2791", yet|strong="G1161" brought up|strong="G0397" in|strong="G1722" this|strong="G3778" city|strong="G4172" at|strong="G3844" the feet|strong="G4228" of Gamaliel|strong="G1059", and taught|strong="G3811" according to|strong="G2596" the perfect manner|strong="G0195" of the law|strong="G3551" of the fathers|strong="G3971", and was|strong="G5225" zealous|strong="G2207" toward God|strong="G2316", as|strong="G2531" ye|strong="G5210" all|strong="G3956" are|strong="G2075" this day|strong="G4594".
4 And|strong="G3739" I persecuted|strong="G1377" this|strong="G3778" way|strong="G3598" unto|strong="G0891" the death|strong="G2288", binding|strong="G1195" and|strong="G2532" delivering|strong="G3860" into|strong="G1519" prisons|strong="G5438" both|strong="G5037" men|strong="G0435" and|strong="G2532" women|strong="G1135".
5 As|strong="G5613" also|strong="G2532" the high priest|strong="G0749" doth bear|strong="G3140" me|strong="G3427" witness|strong="G3140", and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3956" the estate of the elders|strong="G4244": from|strong="G3844" whom|strong="G3739" also|strong="G2532" I received|strong="G1209" letters|strong="G1992" unto|strong="G4314" the brethren|strong="G0080", and went|strong="G4198" to|strong="G1519" Damascus|strong="G1154", to bring|strong="G0071" them|strong="G3588" which were|strong="G5607" there|strong="G1566" bound|strong="G1210" unto|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", for|strong="G2443" to be punished|strong="G5097".
6 And|strong="G1161" it came to pass, that|strong="G1096", as I|strong="G3427" made my journey|strong="G4198", and|strong="G2532" was come nigh|strong="G1448" unto Damascus|strong="G1154" about|strong="G4012" noon|strong="G3314", suddenly|strong="G1810" there shone|strong="G4015" from|strong="G1537" heaven|strong="G3772" a great|strong="G2425" light|strong="G5457" round about|strong="G4012" me|strong="G1691".
7 And|strong="G5037" I fell|strong="G4098" unto|strong="G1519" the ground|strong="G1475", and|strong="G2532" heard|strong="G0191" a voice|strong="G5456" saying|strong="G3004" unto me|strong="G3427", \+w Saul|strong="G4549"\+w*, \+w Saul|strong="G4549"\+w*, \+w why|strong="G5101"\+w* \+w persecutest thou|strong="G1377"\+w* \+w me|strong="G3165"\+w*?
8 And|strong="G1161" I|strong="G1473" answered|strong="G0611", Who|strong="G5101" art thou|strong="G1488", Lord|strong="G2962"? And|strong="G5037" he said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" me|strong="G3165", \+w I|strong="G1473"\+w* \+w am|strong="G1510"\+w* \+w Jesus|strong="G2424"\+w* \+w of Nazareth|strong="G3480"\+w*, \+w whom|strong="G3739"\+w* \+w thou|strong="G4771"\+w* \+w persecutest|strong="G1377"\+w*.
9 And|strong="G1161" they|strong="G3588" that were|strong="G5607" with|strong="G4862" me|strong="G1698" saw|strong="G2300" indeed|strong="G3303" the light|strong="G5457", and|strong="G2532" were|strong="G1096" afraid|strong="G1719"; but|strong="G1161" they heard|strong="G0191" not|strong="G3756" the voice|strong="G5456" of him|strong="G3588" that spake|strong="G2980" to me|strong="G3427".
10 And|strong="G1161" I said|strong="G2036", What|strong="G5101" shall I do|strong="G4160", Lord|strong="G2962"? And|strong="G1161" the Lord|strong="G2962" said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" me|strong="G3165", \+w Arise|strong="G0450"\+w*, \+w and go|strong="G4198"\+w* \+w into|strong="G1519"\+w* \+w Damascus|strong="G1154"\+w*; \+w and there|strong="G2546"\+w* \+w it shall be told|strong="G2980"\+w* \+w thee|strong="G4671"\+w* \+w of|strong="G4012"\+w* \+w all things|strong="G3956"\+w* \+w which|strong="G3739"\+w* \+w are appointed|strong="G5021"\+w* \+w for thee|strong="G4671"\+w* \+w to do|strong="G4160"\+w*.
11 And|strong="G1161" when|strong="G5613" I could|strong="G1689" not|strong="G3756" see|strong="G1689" for|strong="G0575" the glory|strong="G1391" of that|strong="G1565" light|strong="G5457", being led by the hand|strong="G5496" of|strong="G5259" them|strong="G3588" that were with|strong="G4895" me|strong="G3427", I came|strong="G2064" into|strong="G1519" Damascus|strong="G1154".
12 And|strong="G1161" one|strong="G5100" Ananias|strong="G0367", a devout|strong="G2152" man|strong="G0435" according to|strong="G2596" the law|strong="G3551", having a good report|strong="G3140" of|strong="G5259" all|strong="G3956" the Jews|strong="G2453" which dwelt|strong="G2730" there,
13 Came|strong="G2064" unto|strong="G4314" me|strong="G3165", and|strong="G2532" stood|strong="G2186", and said|strong="G2036" unto me|strong="G3427", Brother|strong="G0080" Saul|strong="G4549", receive thy sight|strong="G0308". And|strong="G2504" the same|strong="G0846" hour|strong="G5610" I|strong="G2504" looked up|strong="G0308" upon|strong="G1519" him|strong="G0846".
14 And|strong="G1161" he said|strong="G2036", The God|strong="G2316" of our|strong="G2257" fathers|strong="G3962" hath chosen|strong="G4400" thee|strong="G4571", that thou shouldest know|strong="G1097" his|strong="G0846" will|strong="G2307", and|strong="G2532" see|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3588" Just One|strong="G1342", and|strong="G2532" shouldest hear|strong="G0191" the voice|strong="G5456" of|strong="G1537" his|strong="G0846" mouth|strong="G4750".
15 For|strong="G3754" thou shalt be|strong="G2071" his|strong="G0846" witness|strong="G3144" unto|strong="G4314" all|strong="G3956" men|strong="G0444" of what|strong="G3739" thou hast seen|strong="G3708" and|strong="G2532" heard|strong="G0191".
16 And|strong="G2532" now|strong="G3568" why|strong="G5101" tarriest thou|strong="G3195"? arise|strong="G0450", and be baptized|strong="G0907", and|strong="G2532" wash away|strong="G0628" thy|strong="G4675" sins|strong="G0266", calling on|strong="G1941" the name|strong="G3686" of the Lord|strong="G2962".
17 And|strong="G1161" it came to pass, that|strong="G1096", when I|strong="G3427" was come again|strong="G5290" to|strong="G1519" Jerusalem|strong="G2419", even|strong="G2532" while I|strong="G3450" prayed|strong="G4336" in|strong="G1722" the temple|strong="G2411", I|strong="G3165" was|strong="G1096" in|strong="G1722" a trance|strong="G1611";
18 And|strong="G2532" saw|strong="G1492" him|strong="G0846" saying|strong="G3004" unto me|strong="G3427", \+w Make haste|strong="G4692"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w get thee|strong="G1831"\+w* \+w quickly|strong="G5034"\+w* \+w out of|strong="G1537"\+w* \+w Jerusalem|strong="G2419"\+w*: \+w for|strong="G1360"\+w* \+w they will|strong="G3858"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w receive|strong="G3858"\+w* \+w thy|strong="G4675"\+w* \+w testimony|strong="G3141"\+w* \+w concerning|strong="G4012"\+w* \+w me|strong="G1700"\+w*.
19 And I|strong="G2504" said|strong="G2036", Lord|strong="G2962", they|strong="G0846" know|strong="G1987" that|strong="G3754" I|strong="G1473" imprisoned|strong="G5439" and|strong="G2532" beat|strong="G1194" in every|strong="G2596" synagogue|strong="G4864" them that|strong="G3588" believed|strong="G4100" on|strong="G1909" thee|strong="G4571":
20 And|strong="G2532" when|strong="G3753" the blood|strong="G0129" of thy|strong="G4675" martyr|strong="G3144" Stephen|strong="G4736" was shed|strong="G1632", I|strong="G0846" also|strong="G2532" was|strong="G2252" standing by|strong="G2186", and|strong="G2532" consenting unto|strong="G4909" his|strong="G0846" death|strong="G0336", and|strong="G2532" kept|strong="G5442" the raiment|strong="G2440" of them|strong="G3588" that slew|strong="G0337" him|strong="G0846".
21 And|strong="G2532" he said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" me|strong="G3165", \+w Depart|strong="G4198"\+w*: \+w for|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w I|strong="G1473"\+w* \+w will send|strong="G1821"\+w* \+w thee|strong="G4571"\+w* \+w far hence|strong="G3112"\+w* \+w unto|strong="G1519"\+w* \+w the Gentiles|strong="G1484"\+w*.
22 And|strong="G1161" they gave|strong="G0191" him|strong="G0846" audience|strong="G0191" unto|strong="G0891" this|strong="G5127" word|strong="G3056", and|strong="G2532" then lifted up|strong="G1869" their|strong="G0846" voices|strong="G5456", and said|strong="G3004", Away with|strong="G0142" such a|strong="G5108" fellow from|strong="G0575" the earth|strong="G1093": for|strong="G1063" it is|strong="G2520" not|strong="G3756" fit|strong="G2520" that he|strong="G0846" should live|strong="G2198".
23 And|strong="G1161" as they|strong="G0846" cried out|strong="G2905", and|strong="G2532" cast off|strong="G4495" their clothes|strong="G2440", and|strong="G2532" threw|strong="G0906" dust|strong="G2868" into|strong="G1519" the air|strong="G0109",
24 The chief captain|strong="G5506" commanded|strong="G2753" him|strong="G0846" to be brought|strong="G0071" into|strong="G1519" the castle|strong="G3925", and bade that|strong="G2036" he|strong="G0846" should be examined|strong="G0426" by scourging|strong="G3148"; that|strong="G2443" he might know|strong="G1921" wherefore|strong="G1223" they cried|strong="G2019" so|strong="G3779" against him|strong="G0846".
25 And|strong="G1161" as|strong="G5613" they bound|strong="G4385" him|strong="G0846" with thongs|strong="G2438", Paul|strong="G3972" said|strong="G2036" unto|strong="G4314" the centurion|strong="G1543" that|strong="G3588" stood by|strong="G2476", Is it lawful|strong="G1832" for you|strong="G5213" to scourge|strong="G3147" a man|strong="G0444" that is a Roman|strong="G4514", and|strong="G2532" uncondemned|strong="G0178"?
26 When|strong="G1161" the centurion|strong="G1543" heard|strong="G0191" that, he went|strong="G4334" and told|strong="G0518" the chief captain|strong="G5506", saying|strong="G3004", Take heed|strong="G3708" what|strong="G5101" thou doest|strong="G4160": for|strong="G1063" this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G0444" is|strong="G2076" a Roman|strong="G4514".
27 Then|strong="G1161" the chief captain|strong="G5506" came|strong="G4334", and said|strong="G2036" unto him|strong="G0846", Tell|strong="G3004" me|strong="G3427", art|strong="G1488" thou|strong="G4771" a Roman|strong="G4514"? He said|strong="G5346", Yea|strong="G3483".
28 And|strong="G5037" the chief captain|strong="G5506" answered|strong="G0611", With a great|strong="G4183" sum|strong="G2774" obtained|strong="G2932" I|strong="G1473" this|strong="G3778" freedom|strong="G4174". And|strong="G1161" Paul|strong="G3972" said|strong="G5346", But|strong="G1161" I|strong="G1473" was|strong="G1080" free born|strong="G1080".
29 Then|strong="G3767" straightway|strong="G2112" they departed|strong="G0868" from|strong="G0575" him|strong="G0846" which|strong="G3588" should|strong="G3195" have examined|strong="G0426" him|strong="G0846": and|strong="G2532" the chief captain|strong="G5506" also|strong="G1161" was afraid|strong="G5399", after he knew|strong="G1921" that|strong="G3754" he was|strong="G2076" a Roman|strong="G4514", and|strong="G2532" because|strong="G3754" he had|strong="G2258" bound|strong="G1210" him|strong="G0846".
30 On the morrow|strong="G1887", because|strong="G1161" he would|strong="G1014" have known|strong="G1097" the certainty|strong="G0804" wherefore|strong="G5101" he was accused|strong="G2723" of|strong="G3844" the Jews|strong="G2453", he loosed|strong="G3089" him|strong="G0846" from|strong="G0575" his bands|strong="G1199", and|strong="G2532" commanded|strong="G2753" the chief priests|strong="G0749" and|strong="G2532" all|strong="G3650" their|strong="G0846" council|strong="G4892" to appear|strong="G2064", and|strong="G2532" brought|strong="G2609" Paul|strong="G3972" down|strong="G2609", and set him|strong="G2476" before|strong="G1519" them|strong="G0846".
