Then said|strong="H0559" Solomon|strong="H8010", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath said|strong="H0559" that he would dwell|strong="H7931" in the thick darkness|strong="H6205".
But I have built|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" of habitation|strong="H2073" for thee, and a place|strong="H4349" for thy dwelling|strong="H3427" for ever|strong="H5769".
And the king|strong="H4428" turned|strong="H5437" his face|strong="H6440", and blessed|strong="H1288" the whole congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478": and all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478" stood|strong="H5975".
And he said|strong="H0559", Blessed|strong="H1288" be the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", who hath with his hands|strong="H3027" fulfilled|strong="H4390" that which he spake|strong="H1696" with his mouth|strong="H6310" to my father|strong="H0001" David|strong="H1732", saying|strong="H0559",
Since the day|strong="H3117" that I brought forth|strong="H3318" my people|strong="H5971" out of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714" I chose|strong="H0977" no city|strong="H5892" among all the tribes|strong="H7626" of Israel|strong="H3478" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" in, that my name|strong="H8034" might be there; neither chose|strong="H0977" I any man|strong="H0376" to be a ruler|strong="H5057" over my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478":
But I have chosen|strong="H0977" Jerusalem|strong="H3389", that my name|strong="H8034" might be there; and have chosen|strong="H0977" David|strong="H1732" to be over my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478".
Now it was in the heart|strong="H3824" of David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" for the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".
But the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" to David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001", Forasmuch as it was in thine heart|strong="H3824" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" for my name|strong="H8034", thou didst well|strong="H2895" in that it was in thine heart|strong="H3824":
Notwithstanding|strong="H7535" thou shalt not build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004"; but thy son|strong="H1121" which shall come forth|strong="H3318" out of thy loins|strong="H2504", he shall build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004" for my name|strong="H8034".
The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* therefore hath performed|strong="H6965" his word|strong="H1697" that he hath spoken|strong="H1696": for I am risen up|strong="H6965" in the room of David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001", and am set|strong="H3427" on the throne|strong="H3678" of Israel|strong="H3478", as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* promised|strong="H1696", and have built|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004" for the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".
And in it|strong="H8033" have I put|strong="H7760" the ark|strong="H0727", wherein is the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that he made|strong="H3772" with the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".
And he stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in the presence of all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478", and spread forth|strong="H6566" his hands|strong="H3709":
For Solomon|strong="H8010" had made|strong="H6213" a brasen|strong="H5178" scaffold|strong="H3595", of five|strong="H2568" cubits|strong="H0520" long|strong="H0753", and five|strong="H2568" cubits|strong="H0520" broad|strong="H7341", and three|strong="H7969" cubits|strong="H0520" high|strong="H6967", and had set|strong="H5414" it in the midst|strong="H8432" of the court|strong="H5835": and upon it he stood|strong="H5975", and kneeled down|strong="H1288" upon his knees|strong="H1290" before all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478", and spread forth|strong="H6566" his hands|strong="H3709" toward heaven|strong="H8064",
And said|strong="H0559", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", there is no God|strong="H0430" like thee in the heaven|strong="H8064", nor in the earth|strong="H0776"; which keepest|strong="H8104" covenant|strong="H1285", and shewest mercy|strong="H2617" unto thy servants|strong="H5650", that walk|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" thee with all their hearts|strong="H3820":
Thou which hast kept|strong="H8104" with thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" that which thou hast promised|strong="H1696" him; and spakest|strong="H1696" with thy mouth|strong="H6310", and hast fulfilled|strong="H4390" it with thine hand|strong="H3027", as it is this day|strong="H3117".
Now therefore, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", keep|strong="H8104" with thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" that which thou hast promised|strong="H1696" him, saying|strong="H0559", There shall not fail|strong="H3772" thee a man|strong="H0376" in my sight|strong="H6440" to sit|strong="H3427" upon the throne|strong="H3678" of Israel|strong="H3478"; yet so|strong="H7535" that thy children|strong="H1121" take heed|strong="H8104" to their way|strong="H1870" to walk|strong="H3212" in my law|strong="H8451", as thou hast walked|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" me.
Now then, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", let thy word|strong="H1697" be verified|strong="H0539", which thou hast spoken|strong="H1696" unto thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732".
But will God|strong="H0430" in very deed|strong="H0552" dwell|strong="H3427" with men|strong="H0120" on the earth|strong="H0776"? behold, heaven|strong="H8064" and the heaven|strong="H8064" of heavens|strong="H8064" cannot contain|strong="H3557" thee; how much less this house|strong="H1004" which I have built|strong="H1129"!
Have respect|strong="H6437" therefore to the prayer|strong="H8605" of thy servant|strong="H5650", and to his supplication|strong="H8467", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430", to hearken|strong="H8085" unto the cry|strong="H7440" and the prayer|strong="H8605" which thy servant|strong="H5650" prayeth|strong="H6419" before|strong="H6440" thee:
That thine eyes|strong="H5869" may be open|strong="H6605" upon this house|strong="H1004" day|strong="H3119" and night|strong="H3915", upon the place|strong="H4725" whereof thou hast said|strong="H0559" that thou wouldest put|strong="H7760" thy name|strong="H8034" there; to hearken|strong="H8085" unto the prayer|strong="H8605" which thy servant|strong="H5650" prayeth|strong="H6419" toward this place|strong="H4725".
Hearken|strong="H8085" therefore unto the supplications|strong="H8469" of thy servant|strong="H5650", and of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", which they shall make|strong="H6419" toward this place|strong="H4725": hear|strong="H8085" thou from thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4725", even from heaven|strong="H8064"; and when thou hearest|strong="H8085", forgive|strong="H5545".
If a man|strong="H0376" sin|strong="H2398" against his neighbour|strong="H7453", and an oath|strong="H0423" be laid|strong="H5375" upon him to make him swear|strong="H0422", and the oath|strong="H0423" come|strong="H0935" before|strong="H6440" thine altar|strong="H4196" in this house|strong="H1004";
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from heaven|strong="H8064", and do|strong="H6213", and judge|strong="H8199" thy servants|strong="H5650", by requiting|strong="H7725" the wicked|strong="H7563", by recompensing|strong="H5414" his way|strong="H1870" upon his own head|strong="H7218"; and by justifying|strong="H6663" the righteous|strong="H6662", by giving|strong="H5414" him according to his righteousness|strong="H6666".
And if thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478" be put to the worse|strong="H5062" before|strong="H6440" the enemy|strong="H0341", because they have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee; and shall return|strong="H7725" and confess|strong="H3034" thy name|strong="H8034", and pray|strong="H6419" and make supplication|strong="H2603" before|strong="H6440" thee in this house|strong="H1004";
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from the heavens|strong="H8064", and forgive|strong="H5545" the sin|strong="H2403" of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", and bring them again|strong="H7725" unto the land|strong="H0127" which thou gavest|strong="H5414" to them and to their fathers|strong="H0001".
When the heaven|strong="H8064" is shut up|strong="H6113", and there is no rain|strong="H4306", because they have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee; yet if they pray|strong="H6419" toward this place|strong="H4725", and confess|strong="H3034" thy name|strong="H8034", and turn|strong="H7725" from their sin|strong="H2403", when thou dost afflict|strong="H6031" them;
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from heaven|strong="H8064", and forgive|strong="H5545" the sin|strong="H2403" of thy servants|strong="H5650", and of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", when thou hast taught|strong="H3384" them the good|strong="H2896" way|strong="H1870", wherein they should walk|strong="H3212"; and send|strong="H5414" rain|strong="H4306" upon thy land|strong="H0776", which thou hast given|strong="H5414" unto thy people|strong="H5971" for an inheritance|strong="H5159".
If there be dearth|strong="H7458" in the land|strong="H0776", if there be pestilence|strong="H1698", if there be blasting|strong="H7711", or mildew|strong="H3420", locusts|strong="H0697", or caterpillers|strong="H2625"; if their enemies|strong="H0341" besiege|strong="H6887" them in the cities|strong="H8179" of their land|strong="H0776"; whatsoever sore|strong="H5061" or whatsoever sickness|strong="H4245" there be:
Then what prayer|strong="H8605" or what supplication|strong="H8467" soever shall be made of any man|strong="H0120", or of all thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", when every one|strong="H0376" shall know|strong="H3045" his own sore|strong="H5061" and his own grief|strong="H4341", and shall spread forth|strong="H6566" his hands|strong="H3709" in this house|strong="H1004":
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from heaven|strong="H8064" thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4349", and forgive|strong="H5545", and render|strong="H5414" unto every man|strong="H0376" according unto all his ways|strong="H1870", whose heart|strong="H3824" thou knowest|strong="H3045"; (for thou only knowest|strong="H3045" the hearts|strong="H3824" of the children|strong="H1121" of men|strong="H0120":)
That they may fear|strong="H3372" thee, to walk|strong="H3212" in thy ways|strong="H1870", so long as|strong="H3117" they live|strong="H2416" in the land|strong="H0127" which thou gavest|strong="H5414" unto our fathers|strong="H0001".
Moreover concerning the stranger|strong="H5237", which is not of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", but is come|strong="H0935" from a far|strong="H7350" country|strong="H0776" for thy great|strong="H1419" name’s|strong="H8034" sake, and thy mighty|strong="H2389" hand|strong="H3027", and thy stretched out|strong="H5186" arm|strong="H2220"; if they come|strong="H0935" and pray|strong="H6419" in this house|strong="H1004";
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from the heavens|strong="H8064", even from thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4349", and do|strong="H6213" according to all that the stranger|strong="H5237" calleth|strong="H7121" to thee for; that all people|strong="H5971" of the earth|strong="H0776" may know|strong="H3045" thy name|strong="H8034", and fear|strong="H3372" thee, as doth thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", and may know|strong="H3045" that this house|strong="H1004" which I have built|strong="H1129" is called|strong="H7121" by thy name|strong="H8034".
If thy people|strong="H5971" go out|strong="H3318" to war|strong="H4421" against their enemies|strong="H0341" by the way|strong="H1870" that thou shalt send|strong="H7971" them, and they pray|strong="H6419" unto thee toward|strong="H1870" this city|strong="H5892" which thou hast chosen|strong="H0977", and the house|strong="H1004" which I have built|strong="H1129" for thy name|strong="H8034";
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from the heavens|strong="H8064" their prayer|strong="H8605" and their supplication|strong="H8467", and maintain|strong="H6213" their cause|strong="H4941".
If they sin|strong="H2398" against thee, (for there is no man|strong="H0120" which sinneth|strong="H2398" not,) and thou be angry|strong="H0599" with them, and deliver|strong="H5414" them over before|strong="H6440" their enemies|strong="H0341", and they carry them away|strong="H7617" captives|strong="H7617" unto a land|strong="H0776" far off|strong="H7350" or near|strong="H7138";
Yet if they bethink|strong="H7725" themselves in the land|strong="H0776" whither they are carried captive|strong="H7617", and turn|strong="H7725" and pray|strong="H2603" unto thee in the land|strong="H0776" of their captivity|strong="H7628", saying|strong="H0559", We have sinned|strong="H2398", we have done amiss|strong="H5753", and have dealt wickedly|strong="H7561";
If they return|strong="H7725" to thee with all their heart|strong="H3820" and with all their soul|strong="H5315" in the land|strong="H0776" of their captivity|strong="H7628", whither they have carried them captives|strong="H7617", and pray|strong="H6419" toward|strong="H1870" their land|strong="H0776", which thou gavest|strong="H5414" unto their fathers|strong="H0001", and toward the city|strong="H5892" which thou hast chosen|strong="H0977", and toward the house|strong="H1004" which I have built|strong="H1129" for thy name|strong="H8034":
Then hear|strong="H8085" thou from the heavens|strong="H8064", even from thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4349", their prayer|strong="H8605" and their supplications|strong="H8467", and maintain|strong="H6213" their cause|strong="H4941", and forgive|strong="H5545" thy people|strong="H5971" which have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee.
Now, my God|strong="H0430", let, I beseech thee, thine eyes|strong="H5869" be open|strong="H6605", and let thine ears|strong="H0241" be attent|strong="H7183" unto the prayer|strong="H8605" that is made in this place|strong="H4725".
Now therefore arise|strong="H6965", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430", into thy resting|strong="H5118" place, thou, and the ark|strong="H0727" of thy strength|strong="H5797": let thy priests|strong="H3548", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430", be clothed|strong="H3847" with salvation|strong="H8668", and let thy saints|strong="H2623" rejoice|strong="H8055" in goodness|strong="H2896".
O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430", turn not away|strong="H7725" the face|strong="H6440" of thine anointed|strong="H4899": remember|strong="H2142" the mercies|strong="H2617" of David|strong="H1732" thy servant|strong="H5650".
