5 Será que vocês não sabem que o Senhor , o Deus de Israel, fez uma aliança eterna com Davi, prometendo que ele e os seus filhos sempre seriam os reis de Israel?
6 Yet Jeroboam|strong="H3379" the son|strong="H1121" of Nebat|strong="H5028", the servant|strong="H5650" of Solomon|strong="H8010" the son|strong="H1121" of David|strong="H1732", is risen up|strong="H6965", and hath rebelled|strong="H4775" against his lord|strong="H0113".
6 Mas Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, servidor de Salomão, filho de Davi, se revoltou contra o seu rei.
7 And there are gathered|strong="H6908" unto him vain|strong="H7386" men|strong="H0582", the children|strong="H1121" of Belial|strong="H1100", and have strengthened|strong="H0553" themselves against Rehoboam|strong="H7346" the son|strong="H1121" of Solomon|strong="H8010", when Rehoboam|strong="H7346" was young|strong="H5288" and tenderhearted|strong="H7390", and could not withstand|strong="H2388" them|strong="H6440".
7 E uns homens maus e vadios se juntaram a Jeroboão, e eles desafiaram Roboão, filho de Salomão. Roboão era jovem e tímido e não pôde resistir.
8 And now ye think|strong="H0559" to withstand|strong="H2388" the kingdom|strong="H6440" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in the hand|strong="H3027" of the sons|strong="H1121" of David|strong="H1732"; and ye be a great|strong="H7227" multitude|strong="H1995", and there are with you golden|strong="H2091" calves|strong="H5695", which Jeroboam|strong="H3379" made|strong="H6213" you for gods|strong="H0430".

9 Have ye not cast out|strong="H5080" the priests|strong="H3548" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the sons|strong="H1121" of Aaron|strong="H0175", and the Levites|strong="H3881", and have made|strong="H6213" you priests|strong="H3548" after the manner of the nations|strong="H5971" of other lands|strong="H0776"? so that whosoever cometh|strong="H0935" to consecrate|strong="H4390" himself with a young|strong="H1121" bullock|strong="H6499" and seven|strong="H7651" rams|strong="H0352", the same may be a priest|strong="H3548" of them that are no|strong="H3808" gods|strong="H0430".
9 Vocês expulsaram os sacerdotes de Deus, os descendentes de Arão, e os levitas e escolheram os seus próprios sacerdotes, como os povos pagãos fazem. Qualquer um que aparece com um touro ou sete carneiros pode se tornar sacerdote de deuses falsos.
10 But as for us, the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is our God|strong="H0430", and we have not forsaken|strong="H5800" him; and the priests|strong="H3548", which minister|strong="H8334" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, are the sons|strong="H1121" of Aaron|strong="H0175", and the Levites|strong="H3881" wait upon their business|strong="H4399":
10 — Quanto a nós, o Senhor é o nosso Deus, e nunca o rejeitamos. Os nossos sacerdotes são descendentes de Arão; eles servem a Deus e são ajudados pelos levitas.
11 And they burn|strong="H6999" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* every morning|strong="H1242" and every evening|strong="H6153" burnt sacrifices|strong="H5930" and sweet|strong="H5561" incense|strong="H7004": the shewbread|strong="H3899" also set they in order upon the pure|strong="H2889" table|strong="H7979"; and the candlestick|strong="H4501" of gold|strong="H2091" with the lamps|strong="H5216" thereof, to burn|strong="H1197" every evening|strong="H6153": for we keep|strong="H8104" the charge|strong="H4931" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430"; but ye have forsaken|strong="H5800" him.

O children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", fight|strong="H3898" ye not against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of your fathers|strong="H0001"; for ye shall not prosper|strong="H6743".
12 Deus está conosco e vai à nossa frente, e os seus sacerdotes estão prontos para tocar as cornetas a fim de começar a batalha. Povo de Israel, não lutem contra o Senhor , o Deus dos seus antepassados! Vocês não podem vencer!
13 But Jeroboam|strong="H3379" caused an ambushment|strong="H3993" to come|strong="H0935" about|strong="H5437" behind|strong="H0310" them: so they were before|strong="H6440" Judah|strong="H3063", and the ambushment|strong="H3993" was behind|strong="H0310" them.
13 Mas Jeroboão tinha mandado parte do seu exército ficar atrás dos soldados de Abias; o resto ficou na frente deles.
14 And when Judah|strong="H3063" looked back|strong="H6437", behold, the battle|strong="H4421" was before|strong="H6440" and behind|strong="H0268": and they cried|strong="H6817" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the priests|strong="H3548" sounded|strong="H2690" with the trumpets|strong="H2689".
14 Quando os soldados de Abias olharam para trás e viram que estavam cercados pelos soldados de Jeroboão, gritaram a Deus pedindo socorro. Os sacerdotes tocaram as cornetas,
15 Then the men|strong="H0376" of Judah|strong="H3063" gave a shout|strong="H7321": and as the men|strong="H0376" of Judah|strong="H3063" shouted|strong="H7321", it came to pass, that God|strong="H0430" smote|strong="H5062" Jeroboam|strong="H3379" and all Israel|strong="H3478" before|strong="H6440" Abijah|strong="H0029" and Judah|strong="H3063".
15 os soldados de Abias gritaram, e Deus derrotou Jeroboão e o seu exército diante de Abias e o seu exército.
16 And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" fled|strong="H5127" before|strong="H6440" Judah|strong="H3063": and God|strong="H0430" delivered|strong="H5414" them into their hand|strong="H3027".
16 Os soldados de Israel fugiram dos de Judá, pois Deus lhes deu a vitória.
17 And Abijah|strong="H0029" and his people|strong="H5971" slew|strong="H5221" them with a great|strong="H7227" slaughter|strong="H4347": so there fell down|strong="H5307" slain|strong="H2491" of Israel|strong="H3478" five|strong="H2568" hundred|strong="H3967" thousand|strong="H0505" chosen|strong="H0977" men|strong="H0376".
17 Quinhentos mil dos soldados de Israel foram mortos por Abias e os seus soldados; foi uma matança enorme.
18 Thus the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" were brought|strong="H3665" under at that time|strong="H6256", and the children|strong="H1121" of Judah|strong="H3063" prevailed|strong="H0553", because they relied|strong="H8172" upon the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of their fathers|strong="H0001".
18 Assim os soldados de Israel foram derrotados, e os de Judá venceram, pois confiaram no Senhor , o Deus dos seus antepassados.
19 And Abijah|strong="H0029" pursued|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" Jeroboam|strong="H3379", and took|strong="H3920" cities|strong="H5892" from him, Beth-el|strong="H1008" with the towns|strong="H1323" thereof, and Jeshanah|strong="H3466" with the towns|strong="H1323" thereof, and Ephrain|strong="H6085" with the towns|strong="H1323" thereof.
19 Abias perseguiu Jeroboão e o resto do seu exército e conquistou as cidades de Betel, Jesana e Efrom e os povoados que ficavam perto delas.
20 Neither did Jeroboam|strong="H3379" recover|strong="H6113" strength|strong="H3581" again in the days|strong="H3117" of Abijah|strong="H0029": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* struck|strong="H5062" him, and he died|strong="H4191".
20 Durante o reinado de Abias, Jeroboão nunca voltou a governar. Finalmente a ira de Deus atingiu Jeroboão, e ele morreu.
21 But Abijah|strong="H0029" waxed mighty|strong="H2388", and married|strong="H5375" fourteen|strong="H0702" wives|strong="H0802", and begat|strong="H3205" twenty|strong="H6242" and two|strong="H8147" sons|strong="H1121", and sixteen|strong="H8337" daughters|strong="H1323".
21 Abias foi ficando cada vez mais poderoso. Ele casou com catorze mulheres e foi pai de vinte e dois filhos e dezesseis filhas.
22 And the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Abijah|strong="H0029", and his ways|strong="H1870", and his sayings|strong="H1697", are written|strong="H3789" in the story|strong="H4097" of the prophet|strong="H5030" Iddo|strong="H5714".
