And it came to pass, when Rehoboam|strong="H7346" had established|strong="H3559" the kingdom|strong="H4438", and had strengthened|strong="H2393" himself, he forsook|strong="H5800" the law|strong="H8451" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and all Israel|strong="H3478" with him.
And it came to pass, that in the fifth|strong="H2549" year|strong="H8141" of king|strong="H4428" Rehoboam|strong="H7346" Shishak|strong="H7895" king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714" came up|strong="H5927" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389", because they had transgressed|strong="H4603" against the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*,
With twelve hundred|strong="H3967" chariots|strong="H7393", and threescore|strong="H8346" thousand|strong="H0505" horsemen|strong="H6571": and the people|strong="H5971" were without number|strong="H4557" that came|strong="H0935" with him out of Egypt|strong="H4714"; the Lubims|strong="H3864", the Sukkiims|strong="H5525", and the Ethiopians|strong="H3569".
And he took|strong="H3920" the fenced|strong="H4694" cities|strong="H5892" which pertained to Judah|strong="H3063", and came|strong="H0935" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
Then came|strong="H0935" Shemaiah|strong="H8098" the prophet|strong="H5030" to Rehoboam|strong="H7346", and to the princes|strong="H8269" of Judah|strong="H3063", that were gathered together|strong="H0622" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389" because|strong="H6440" of Shishak|strong="H7895", and said|strong="H0559" unto them, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Ye have forsaken|strong="H5800" me, and therefore have I also|strong="H0637" left|strong="H5800" you in the hand|strong="H3027" of Shishak|strong="H7895".
Whereupon the princes|strong="H8269" of Israel|strong="H3478" and the king|strong="H4428" humbled|strong="H3665" themselves; and they said|strong="H0559", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is righteous|strong="H6662".
And when the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* saw|strong="H7200" that they humbled|strong="H3665" themselves, the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came to Shemaiah|strong="H8098", saying|strong="H0559", They have humbled|strong="H3665" themselves; therefore I will not destroy|strong="H7843" them, but I will grant|strong="H5414" them some|strong="H4592" deliverance|strong="H6413"; and my wrath|strong="H2534" shall not be poured out|strong="H5413" upon Jerusalem|strong="H3389" by the hand|strong="H3027" of Shishak|strong="H7895".
Nevertheless they shall be his servants|strong="H5650"; that they may know|strong="H3045" my service|strong="H5656", and the service|strong="H5656" of the kingdoms|strong="H4467" of the countries|strong="H0776".
So Shishak|strong="H7895" king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714" came up|strong="H5927" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and took away|strong="H3947" the treasures|strong="H0214" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the treasures|strong="H0214" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004"; he took|strong="H3947" all: he carried away|strong="H3947" also the shields|strong="H4043" of gold|strong="H2091" which Solomon|strong="H8010" had made|strong="H6213".
Instead of which king|strong="H4428" Rehoboam|strong="H7346" made|strong="H6213" shields|strong="H4043" of brass|strong="H5178", and committed|strong="H6485" them to the hands|strong="H3027" of the chief|strong="H8269" of the guard|strong="H7323", that kept|strong="H8104" the entrance|strong="H6607" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004".
And when|strong="H1767" the king|strong="H4428" entered|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the guard|strong="H7323" came|strong="H0935" and fetched|strong="H5375" them, and brought them again|strong="H7725" into the guard|strong="H7323" chamber|strong="H8372".
And when he humbled|strong="H3665" himself, the wrath|strong="H0639" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* turned|strong="H7725" from him, that he would not destroy|strong="H7843" him altogether|strong="H3617": and also in Judah|strong="H3063" things|strong="H1697" went well|strong="H2896".
So king|strong="H4428" Rehoboam|strong="H7346" strengthened|strong="H2388" himself in Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and reigned|strong="H4427": for Rehoboam|strong="H7346" was one|strong="H0259" and forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" seventeen|strong="H7651" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389", the city|strong="H5892" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had chosen|strong="H0977" out of all the tribes|strong="H7626" of Israel|strong="H3478", to put|strong="H7760" his name|strong="H8034" there. And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Naamah|strong="H5279" an Ammonitess|strong="H5985".
And he did|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451", because he prepared|strong="H3559" not his heart|strong="H3820" to seek|strong="H1875" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
Now the acts|strong="H1697" of Rehoboam|strong="H7346", first|strong="H7223" and last|strong="H0314", are they not written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H1697" of Shemaiah|strong="H8098" the prophet|strong="H5030", and of Iddo|strong="H5714" the seer|strong="H2374" concerning genealogies|strong="H3187"? And there were wars|strong="H4421" between Rehoboam|strong="H7346" and Jeroboam|strong="H3379" continually|strong="H3117".
And Rehoboam|strong="H7346" slept|strong="H7901" with his fathers|strong="H0001", and was buried|strong="H6912" in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732": and Abijah|strong="H0029" his son|strong="H1121" reigned|strong="H4427" in his stead.
