Reis 8

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Then Solomon|strong="H8010" assembled|strong="H6950" the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478", and all the heads|strong="H7218" of the tribes|strong="H4294", the chief|strong="H5387" of the fathers|strong="H0001" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", unto king|strong="H4428" Solomon|strong="H8010" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389", that they might bring up|strong="H5927" the ark|strong="H0727" of the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* out of the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732", which is Zion|strong="H6726".

And all the men|strong="H0376" of Israel|strong="H3478" assembled|strong="H6950" themselves unto king|strong="H4428" Solomon|strong="H8010" at the feast|strong="H2282" in the month|strong="H3391" Ethanim|strong="H0388", which is the seventh|strong="H7637" month|strong="H2320".

And all the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478" came|strong="H0935", and the priests|strong="H3548" took up|strong="H5375" the ark|strong="H0727".

And they brought up|strong="H5927" the ark|strong="H0727" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the tabernacle|strong="H0168" of the congregation|strong="H4150", and all the holy|strong="H6944" vessels|strong="H3627" that were in the tabernacle|strong="H0168", even those did the priests|strong="H3548" and the Levites|strong="H3881" bring up|strong="H5927".

And king|strong="H4428" Solomon|strong="H8010", and all the congregation|strong="H5712" of Israel|strong="H3478", that were assembled|strong="H3259" unto him, were with him before|strong="H6440" the ark|strong="H0727", sacrificing|strong="H2076" sheep|strong="H6629" and oxen|strong="H1241", that could not be told|strong="H5608" nor numbered|strong="H4487" for multitude|strong="H7230".

And the priests|strong="H3548" brought in|strong="H0935" the ark|strong="H0727" of the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* unto his place|strong="H4725", into the oracle|strong="H1687" of the house|strong="H1004", to the most|strong="H6944" holy|strong="H6944" place, even under the wings|strong="H3671" of the cherubims|strong="H3742".

For the cherubims|strong="H3742" spread forth|strong="H6566" their two wings|strong="H3671" over the place|strong="H4725" of the ark|strong="H0727", and the cherubims|strong="H3742" covered|strong="H5526" the ark|strong="H0727" and the staves|strong="H0905" thereof above|strong="H4605".

And they drew out|strong="H0748" the staves|strong="H0905", that the ends|strong="H7218" of the staves|strong="H0905" were seen out|strong="H7200" in the holy|strong="H6944" place before|strong="H6440" the oracle|strong="H1687", and they were not seen|strong="H7200" without|strong="H2351": and there they are unto this day|strong="H3117".

There was nothing in the ark|strong="H0727" save|strong="H7535" the two|strong="H8147" tables|strong="H3871" of stone|strong="H0068", which Moses|strong="H4872" put|strong="H3240" there at Horeb|strong="H2722", when the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* made|strong="H3772" a covenant with the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", when they came out|strong="H3318" of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714".

And it came to pass, when the priests|strong="H3548" were come out|strong="H3318" of the holy|strong="H6944" place, that the cloud|strong="H6051" filled|strong="H4390" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*,

So that the priests|strong="H3548" could|strong="H3201" not stand|strong="H5975" to minister|strong="H8334" because|strong="H6440" of the cloud|strong="H6051": for the glory|strong="H3519" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had filled|strong="H4390" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Then spake|strong="H0559" Solomon|strong="H8010", The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" that he would dwell|strong="H7931" in the thick darkness|strong="H6205".

I have surely|strong="H1129" built|strong="H1129" thee an house|strong="H1004" to dwell in|strong="H2073", a settled place|strong="H4349" for thee to abide in|strong="H3427" for ever|strong="H5769".

And the king|strong="H4428" turned|strong="H5437" his face|strong="H6440" about|strong="H5437", and blessed|strong="H1288" all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478": (and all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478" stood|strong="H5975";)

And he said|strong="H0559", Blessed|strong="H1288" be the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", which spake|strong="H1696" with his mouth|strong="H6310" unto David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001", and hath with his hand|strong="H3027" fulfilled|strong="H4390" it, saying|strong="H0559",

Since the day|strong="H3117" that I brought forth|strong="H3318" my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", I chose|strong="H0977" no city|strong="H5892" out of all the tribes|strong="H7626" of Israel|strong="H3478" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004", that my name|strong="H8034" might be therein; but I chose|strong="H0977" David|strong="H1732" to be over my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478".

And it was in the heart|strong="H3824" of David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" for the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001", Whereas|strong="H3282" it was in thine heart|strong="H3824" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" unto my name|strong="H8034", thou didst well|strong="H2895" that it was in thine heart|strong="H3824".

Nevertheless|strong="H7535" thou shalt not build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004"; but thy son|strong="H1121" that shall come forth out|strong="H3318" of thy loins|strong="H2504", he shall build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004" unto my name|strong="H8034".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath performed|strong="H6965" his word|strong="H1697" that he spake|strong="H1696", and I am risen up|strong="H6965" in the room of David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001", and sit|strong="H3427" on the throne|strong="H3678" of Israel|strong="H3478", as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* promised|strong="H1696", and have built|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" for the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And I have set|strong="H7760" there a place|strong="H4725" for the ark|strong="H0727", wherein is the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which he made|strong="H3772" with our fathers|strong="H0001", when he brought them out|strong="H3318" of the land|strong="H0776" of Egypt|strong="H4714".

And Solomon|strong="H8010" stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* in the presence of|strong="H5048" all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478", and spread forth|strong="H6566" his hands|strong="H3709" toward heaven|strong="H8064":

And he said|strong="H0559", \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", there is no God|strong="H0430" like thee, in heaven|strong="H8064" above|strong="H4605", or on earth|strong="H0776" beneath, who keepest|strong="H8104" covenant|strong="H1285" and mercy|strong="H2617" with thy servants|strong="H5650" that walk|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" thee with all their heart|strong="H3820":

Who hast kept|strong="H8104" with thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" that thou promisedst|strong="H1696" him: thou spakest|strong="H1696" also with thy mouth|strong="H6310", and hast fulfilled|strong="H4390" it with thine hand|strong="H3027", as it is this day|strong="H3117".

Therefore now, \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", keep|strong="H8104" with thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" that thou promisedst|strong="H1696" him, saying|strong="H0559", There shall not fail|strong="H3772" thee a man|strong="H0376" in my sight|strong="H6440" to sit|strong="H3427" on the throne|strong="H3678" of Israel|strong="H3478"; so|strong="H7535" that thy children|strong="H1121" take heed|strong="H8104" to their way|strong="H1870", that they walk|strong="H3212" before|strong="H6440" me as thou hast walked|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" me.

And now, O God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", let thy word|strong="H1697", I pray thee, be verified|strong="H0539", which thou spakest|strong="H1696" unto thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001".

But will God|strong="H0430" indeed|strong="H0552" dwell|strong="H3427" on the earth|strong="H0776"? behold, the heaven|strong="H8064" and heaven|strong="H8064" of heavens|strong="H8064" cannot contain|strong="H3557" thee; how much less|strong="H0637" this house|strong="H1004" that I have builded|strong="H1129"?

Yet have thou respect|strong="H6437" unto the prayer|strong="H8605" of thy servant|strong="H5650", and to his supplication|strong="H8467", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430", to hearken|strong="H8085" unto the cry|strong="H7440" and to the prayer|strong="H8605", which thy servant|strong="H5650" prayeth|strong="H6419" before|strong="H6440" thee to day|strong="H3117":

That thine eyes|strong="H5869" may be open|strong="H6605" toward this house|strong="H1004" night|strong="H3915" and day|strong="H3117", even toward the place|strong="H4725" of which thou hast said|strong="H0559", My name|strong="H8034" shall be there: that thou mayest hearken|strong="H8085" unto the prayer|strong="H8605" which thy servant|strong="H5650" shall make|strong="H6419" toward this place|strong="H4725".

And hearken|strong="H8085" thou to the supplication|strong="H8467" of thy servant|strong="H5650", and of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", when they shall pray|strong="H6419" toward this place|strong="H4725": and hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064" thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4725": and when thou hearest|strong="H8085", forgive|strong="H5545".

If any man|strong="H0376" trespass|strong="H2398" against his neighbour|strong="H7453", and an oath|strong="H0423" be laid|strong="H5375" upon him to cause him to swear|strong="H0422", and the oath|strong="H0423" come|strong="H0935" before|strong="H6440" thine altar|strong="H4196" in this house|strong="H1004":

Then hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064", and do|strong="H6213", and judge|strong="H8199" thy servants|strong="H5650", condemning|strong="H7561" the wicked|strong="H7563", to bring|strong="H5414" his way|strong="H1870" upon his head|strong="H7218"; and justifying|strong="H6663" the righteous|strong="H6662", to give|strong="H5414" him according to his righteousness|strong="H6666".

When thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478" be smitten down|strong="H5062" before|strong="H6440" the enemy|strong="H0341", because they have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee, and shall turn again|strong="H7725" to thee, and confess|strong="H3034" thy name|strong="H8034", and pray|strong="H6419", and make supplication|strong="H2603" unto thee in this house|strong="H1004":

Then hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064", and forgive|strong="H5545" the sin|strong="H2403" of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", and bring them again|strong="H7725" unto the land|strong="H0127" which thou gavest|strong="H5414" unto their fathers|strong="H0001".

When heaven|strong="H8064" is shut up|strong="H6113", and there is no rain|strong="H4306", because they have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee; if they pray|strong="H6419" toward this place|strong="H4725", and confess|strong="H3034" thy name|strong="H8034", and turn|strong="H7725" from their sin|strong="H2403", when thou afflictest|strong="H6031" them:

Then hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064", and forgive|strong="H5545" the sin|strong="H2403" of thy servants|strong="H5650", and of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", that thou teach|strong="H3384" them the good|strong="H2896" way|strong="H1870" wherein they should walk|strong="H3212", and give|strong="H5414" rain|strong="H4306" upon thy land|strong="H0776", which thou hast given|strong="H5414" to thy people|strong="H5971" for an inheritance|strong="H5159".

If there be in the land|strong="H0776" famine|strong="H7458", if there be pestilence|strong="H1698", blasting|strong="H7711", mildew|strong="H3420", locust|strong="H0697", or if there be caterpiller|strong="H2625"; if their enemy|strong="H0341" besiege|strong="H6887" them in the land|strong="H0776" of their cities|strong="H8179"; whatsoever plague|strong="H5061", whatsoever sickness|strong="H4245" there be;

What prayer|strong="H8605" and supplication|strong="H8467" soever be made by any man|strong="H0120", or by all thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", which shall know|strong="H3045" every man|strong="H0376" the plague|strong="H5061" of his own heart|strong="H3824", and spread forth|strong="H6566" his hands|strong="H3709" toward this house|strong="H1004":

Then hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064" thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4349", and forgive|strong="H5545", and do|strong="H6213", and give|strong="H5414" to every man|strong="H0376" according to his ways|strong="H1870", whose heart|strong="H3824" thou knowest|strong="H3045"; (for thou, even thou only, knowest|strong="H3045" the hearts|strong="H3824" of all the children|strong="H1121" of men|strong="H0120";)

That they may fear|strong="H3372" thee all the days|strong="H3117" that they live|strong="H2416" in|strong="H6440" the land|strong="H0127" which thou gavest|strong="H5414" unto our fathers|strong="H0001".

Moreover concerning a stranger|strong="H5237", that is not of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", but cometh out|strong="H0935" of a far|strong="H7350" country|strong="H0776" for|strong="H4616" thy name’s|strong="H8034" sake;

(For they shall hear|strong="H8085" of thy great|strong="H1419" name|strong="H8034", and of thy strong|strong="H2389" hand|strong="H3027", and of thy stretched out|strong="H5186" arm|strong="H2220";) when he shall come|strong="H0935" and pray|strong="H6419" toward this house|strong="H1004";

Hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064" thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4349", and do|strong="H6213" according to all that the stranger|strong="H5237" calleth|strong="H7121" to thee for: that all people|strong="H5971" of the earth|strong="H0776" may know|strong="H3045" thy name|strong="H8034", to fear|strong="H3372" thee, as do thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478"; and that they may know|strong="H3045" that this house|strong="H1004", which I have builded|strong="H1129", is called|strong="H7121" by thy name|strong="H8034".

If thy people|strong="H5971" go out|strong="H3318" to battle|strong="H4421" against their enemy|strong="H0341", whithersoever|strong="H1870" thou shalt send|strong="H7971" them, and shall pray|strong="H6419" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* toward|strong="H1870" the city|strong="H5892" which thou hast chosen|strong="H0977", and toward the house|strong="H1004" that I have built|strong="H1129" for thy name|strong="H8034":

Then hear|strong="H8085" thou in heaven|strong="H8064" their prayer|strong="H8605" and their supplication|strong="H8467", and maintain|strong="H6213" their cause|strong="H4941".

If they sin|strong="H2398" against thee, (for there is no man|strong="H0120" that sinneth|strong="H2398" not,) and thou be angry|strong="H0599" with them, and deliver|strong="H5414" them to the enemy|strong="H0341", so that they carry them away|strong="H7617" captives|strong="H7617" unto|strong="H6440" the land|strong="H0776" of the enemy|strong="H0341", far|strong="H7350" or near|strong="H7138";

Yet if they shall bethink|strong="H7725" themselves in the land|strong="H0776" whither they were carried captives|strong="H7617", and repent|strong="H7725", and make supplication|strong="H2603" unto thee in the land|strong="H0776" of them that carried them captives|strong="H7617", saying|strong="H0559", We have sinned|strong="H2398", and have done perversely|strong="H5753", we have committed wickedness|strong="H7561";

And so return|strong="H7725" unto thee with all their heart|strong="H3824", and with all their soul|strong="H5315", in the land|strong="H0776" of their enemies|strong="H0341", which led them away captive|strong="H7617", and pray|strong="H6419" unto thee toward|strong="H1870" their land|strong="H0776", which thou gavest|strong="H5414" unto their fathers|strong="H0001", the city|strong="H5892" which thou hast chosen|strong="H0977", and the house|strong="H1004" which I have built|strong="H1129" for thy name|strong="H8034":

Then hear|strong="H8085" thou their prayer|strong="H8605" and their supplication|strong="H8467" in heaven|strong="H8064" thy dwelling|strong="H3427" place|strong="H4349", and maintain|strong="H6213" their cause|strong="H4941",

And forgive|strong="H5545" thy people|strong="H5971" that have sinned|strong="H2398" against thee, and all their transgressions|strong="H6588" wherein they have transgressed|strong="H6586" against thee, and give|strong="H5414" them compassion|strong="H7356" before|strong="H6440" them who carried them captive|strong="H7617", that they may have compassion|strong="H7355" on them:

For they be thy people|strong="H5971", and thine inheritance|strong="H5159", which thou broughtest forth|strong="H3318" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", from the midst|strong="H8432" of the furnace|strong="H3564" of iron|strong="H1270":

That thine eyes|strong="H5869" may be open|strong="H6605" unto the supplication|strong="H8467" of thy servant|strong="H5650", and unto the supplication|strong="H8467" of thy people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", to hearken|strong="H8085" unto them in all that they call|strong="H7121" for unto thee.

For thou didst separate|strong="H0914" them from among all the people|strong="H5971" of the earth|strong="H0776", to be thine inheritance|strong="H5159", as thou spakest|strong="H1696" by the hand|strong="H3027" of Moses|strong="H4872" thy servant|strong="H5650", when thou broughtest|strong="H3318" our fathers|strong="H0001" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", O Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*.

And it was so, that when Solomon|strong="H8010" had made an end|strong="H3615" of praying|strong="H6419" all this prayer|strong="H8605" and supplication|strong="H8467" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, he arose|strong="H6965" from before|strong="H6440" the altar|strong="H4196" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, from kneeling|strong="H3766" on his knees|strong="H1290" with his hands|strong="H3709" spread up|strong="H6566" to heaven|strong="H8064".

And he stood|strong="H5975", and blessed|strong="H1288" all the congregation|strong="H6951" of Israel|strong="H3478" with a loud|strong="H1419" voice|strong="H6963", saying|strong="H0559",

Blessed|strong="H1288" be the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that hath given|strong="H5414" rest|strong="H4496" unto his people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478", according to all that he promised|strong="H1696": there hath not failed|strong="H5307" one|strong="H0259" word|strong="H1697" of all his good|strong="H2896" promise|strong="H1697", which he promised|strong="H1696" by the hand|strong="H3027" of Moses|strong="H4872" his servant|strong="H5650".

The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" be with us, as he was with our fathers|strong="H0001": let him not leave|strong="H5800" us, nor forsake|strong="H5203" us:

That he may incline|strong="H5186" our hearts|strong="H3824" unto him, to walk|strong="H3212" in all his ways|strong="H1870", and to keep|strong="H8104" his commandments|strong="H4687", and his statutes|strong="H2706", and his judgments|strong="H4941", which he commanded|strong="H6680" our fathers|strong="H0001".

And let these my words|strong="H1697", wherewith I have made supplication|strong="H2603" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, be nigh|strong="H7138" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430" day|strong="H3119" and night|strong="H3915", that he maintain|strong="H6213" the cause|strong="H4941" of his servant|strong="H5650", and the cause|strong="H4941" of his people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478" at all times|strong="H3117", as the matter|strong="H1697" shall require:

That all the people|strong="H5971" of the earth|strong="H0776" may know|strong="H3045" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* is God|strong="H0430", and that there is none else.

Let your heart|strong="H3824" therefore be perfect|strong="H8003" with the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", to walk|strong="H3212" in his statutes|strong="H2706", and to keep|strong="H8104" his commandments|strong="H4687", as at this day|strong="H3117".

And the king|strong="H4428", and all Israel|strong="H3478" with him, offered|strong="H2076" sacrifice|strong="H2077" before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

And Solomon|strong="H8010" offered|strong="H2076" a sacrifice|strong="H2077" of peace offerings|strong="H8002", which he offered|strong="H2076" unto the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, two|strong="H8147" and twenty|strong="H6242" thousand|strong="H0505" oxen|strong="H1241", and an hundred|strong="H3967" and twenty|strong="H6242" thousand|strong="H0505" sheep|strong="H6629". So the king|strong="H4428" and all the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" dedicated|strong="H2596" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

The same day|strong="H3117" did the king|strong="H4428" hallow|strong="H6942" the middle|strong="H8432" of the court|strong="H2691" that was before|strong="H6440" the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: for there he offered|strong="H6213" burnt offerings|strong="H5930", and meat offerings|strong="H4503", and the fat|strong="H2459" of the peace offerings|strong="H8002": because the brasen|strong="H5178" altar|strong="H4196" that was before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* was too little|strong="H6996" to receive|strong="H3557" the burnt offerings|strong="H5930", and meat offerings|strong="H4503", and the fat|strong="H2459" of the peace offerings|strong="H8002".

And at that time|strong="H6256" Solomon|strong="H8010" held|strong="H6213" a feast|strong="H2282", and all Israel|strong="H3478" with him, a great|strong="H1419" congregation|strong="H6951", from the entering|strong="H0935" in of Hamath|strong="H2574" unto the river|strong="H5158" of Egypt|strong="H4714", before|strong="H6440" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* our God|strong="H0430", seven|strong="H7651" days|strong="H3117" and seven|strong="H7651" days|strong="H3117", even fourteen|strong="H0702" days|strong="H3117".

On the eighth|strong="H8066" day|strong="H3117" he sent|strong="H7971" the people|strong="H5971" away|strong="H7971": and they blessed|strong="H1288" the king|strong="H4428", and went|strong="H3212" unto their tents|strong="H0168" joyful|strong="H8056" and glad|strong="H2896" of heart|strong="H3820" for all the goodness|strong="H2896" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had done|strong="H6213" for David|strong="H1732" his servant|strong="H5650", and for Israel|strong="H3478" his people|strong="H5971".
