¹ Moreover Eliu spoke these words :

¹ Eliú falou ainda mais, e disse:

² Doth thy thought seem right to thee, that thou shouldst say : I am more just than God?

² Pensas tu que é correto dizer: Minha justiça é maior do que a de Deus?

³ For thou saidst : That which is right doth not please thee : or what will it profit thee if I sin?

³ Porque tu disseste: Que vantagem seria para mim? E que lucro terei se eu for limpo do meu pecado?

⁴ Therefore I will answer thy words, and thy friends with thee.

⁴ Eu responderei a ti, e aos teus companheiros contigo.

⁵ Look up to heaven and see, and behold the sky, that it is higher than thee.

⁵ Olha para os céus e vê; e contempla as nuvens, que são mais altas do que tu.

⁶ If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him?

⁶ Se pecares, o que fazes contra ele? Ou se tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, o que fazes a ele?

⁷ And if thou do justly, what shalt thou give him, or what shall he receive of thy hand?

⁷ Se tu fores justo, o que lhe dás, ou que recebe ele da tua mão?

⁸ Thy wickedness may hurt a man that is like thee : and thy justice may help the son of man.

⁸ A tua maldade pode ferir um homem como tu és; e a tua justiça pode beneficiar o filho do homem.

⁹ By reason of the multitude of oppressions they shall cry out : and shall wail for the violence of the arm of tyrants.

⁹ Por causa da multidão de opressões, eles fazem os oprimidos clamarem; eles clamam por causa do braço dos poderosos.

¹⁰ And he hath not said : Where is God, who made me, who hath given songs in the night?

¹⁰ Mas ninguém diz: Onde está Deus, meu criador, que dá canções à noite;

¹¹ Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and instructeth us more than the fowls of the air.

¹¹ que nos ensina mais do que os animais da terra, e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves dos céus?

¹² There shall they cry, and he will not hear, because of the pride of evil men.

¹² Lá clamam, mas a ninguém dá resposta, por causa do orgulho dos homens maus.

¹³ God therefore will not hear in vain, and the Almighty will look into the causes of every one.

¹³ Certamente, Deus não ouvirá a vaidade, nem a considerará o Todo-Poderoso.

¹⁴ Yea when thou shalt say : He considereth not : be judged before him, and expect him.

¹⁴ Embora tu digas que não o verás, ainda assim o juízo está diante dele; por isso confia nele.

¹⁵ For he doth not now bring on his fury, neither doth he revenge wickedness exceedingly.

¹⁵ Mas agora, porque não é assim, ele visitou sua ira; embora ele não a conheça em sua grande extremidade.

¹⁶ Therefore Job openeth his mouth in vain, and multiplieth words without knowledge.

¹⁶ Portanto, Jó abre sua boca em vão; ele multiplica palavras sem conhecimento.
