1 The elder to Gaius the beloved one, whom I love in truth.
1 O presbítero ao amado Gaio, a quem eu amo na verdade.
2 O beloved one, concerning all things I wish thee to prosper and to be in health, even as prospers thee the life.
2 Amado, acima de tudo, faço votos por tua prosperidade e saúde, assim como é próspera a tua alma.
3 I rejoiced for greatly, coming brethren and testifying of the in the truth, even as thou in truth walkest.
3 Pois fiquei sobremodo alegre pela vinda de irmãos e pelo seu testemunho da tua verdade, como tu andas na verdade.
4 Greater of these not I have joy, that I hear the my children in truth walking.
4 Não tenho maior alegria do que esta, a de ouvir que meus filhos andam na verdade.
5 O beloved one, faithfully thou doest whatever thou mayest work for the brethren and in the strangers,
5 Amado, procedes fielmente naquilo que praticas para com os irmãos, e isto fazes mesmo quando são estrangeiros,
6 these bore testimony of thee to the love in presence of congregation; whom well thou wilt do having sent forward worthily of the God.
6 os quais, perante a igreja, deram testemunho do teu amor. Bem farás encaminhando-os em sua jornada por modo digno de Deus;
7 On behalf for of the name they went forth, nothing receiving from the Gentiles.
7 pois por causa do Nome foi que saíram, nada recebendo dos gentios.
8 We therefore ought to receive the such like ones, that coworkers we may become in the truth.
8 Portanto, devemos acolher esses irmãos, para nos tornarmos cooperadores da verdade.
9 I wrote to the congregation; but the one loving to be first of them Diotrephes not receives us.
9 Escrevi alguma coisa à igreja; mas Diótrefes, que gosta de exercer a primazia entre eles, não nos dá acolhida.
10 On account of this, if I come, I will remember of him the works which he does, with words evil prating against us; and not being satisfied in these things, not even he receives the brethren, and those wishing he forbids, and out of the congregation he casts.
10 Por isso, se eu for aí, far-lhe-ei lembradas as obras que ele pratica, proferindo contra nós palavras maliciosas. E, não satisfeito com estas coisas, nem ele mesmo acolhe os irmãos, como impede os que querem recebê-los e os expulsa da igreja.
11 O beloved one, not do thou imitate the evil thing, but the good thing. The one doing good, of the God is; the one doing evil, not has seen the God.
11 Amado, não imites o que é mau, senão o que é bom. Aquele que pratica o bem procede de Deus; aquele que pratica o mal jamais viu a Deus.
12 Demetrius has been testified to by all, and by herself the truth; also we and testify, and you know, that the testimony of us true is.
12 Quanto a Demétrio, todos lhe dão testemunho, até a própria verdade, e nós também damos testemunho; e sabes que o nosso testemunho é verdadeiro.
13 Many things I had to write, but not I wish by means of ink and pen to thee to write;
13 Muitas coisas tinha que te escrever; todavia, não quis fazê-lo com tinta e pena,
14 I hop but immediately to see thee, and mouth to mouth we will speak.
14 pois, em breve, espero ver-te. Então, conversaremos de viva voz.
15 Peace to thee. Salute thee the friends; do thou salute the friends by name.
15 A paz seja contigo. Os amigos te saúdam. Saúda os amigos, nome por nome.
