1 *I*, the prisoner in {the} Lord, exhort you therefore to walk worthy of the calling wherewith ye have been called,
1 Por isso eu, que estou preso porque sirvo o Senhor Jesus Cristo, peço a vocês que vivam de uma maneira que esteja de acordo com o que Deus quis quando chamou vocês.
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love;
2 Sejam sempre humildes, bem-educados e pacientes, suportando uns aos outros com amor.
3 using diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace.
3 Façam tudo para conservar, por meio da paz que une vocês, a união que o Espírito dá.
4 {There is} one body and one Spirit, as ye have been also called in one hope of your calling;
4 Há um só corpo, e um só Espírito, e uma só esperança, para a qual Deus chamou vocês.
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
5 Há um só Senhor, uma só fé e um só batismo.
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
6 E há somente um Deus e Pai de todos, que é o Senhor de todos, que age por meio de todos e está em todos.
7 But to each one of us has been given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Christ.
7 Porém cada um de nós recebeu um dom especial, de acordo com o que Cristo deu.
8 Wherefore he says, Having ascended up on high, he has led captivity captive, and has given gifts to men.
8 Como dizem as Escrituras Sagradas : “Quando ele subiu aos lugares mais altos, levou consigo muitos prisioneiros e deu dons às pessoas.”
9 But that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?
9 O que quer dizer “ele subiu”? Quer dizer que ele também desceu até os lugares mais baixos da terra, isto é, até o mundo dos mortos .
10 He that descended is the same who has also ascended up above all the heavens, that he might fill all things;
10 Assim, quem desceu é o mesmo que subiu, acima e além dos céus, para encher todo o Universo com a sua presença.
11 and *he* has given some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers,
11 Foi ele quem “deu dons às pessoas”. Ele escolheu alguns para serem apóstolos , outros para profetas , outros para evangelistas e ainda outros para pastores e mestres da Igreja.
12 for the perfecting of the saints; with a view to {the} work of {the} ministry, with a view to the edifying of the body of Christ;
12 Ele fez isso para preparar o povo de Deus para o serviço cristão, a fim de construir o corpo de Cristo.
13 until we all arrive at the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, at {the} full-grown man, at {the} measure of the stature of the fulness of the Christ;
13 Desse modo todos nós chegaremos a ser um na nossa fé e no nosso conhecimento do Filho de Deus. E assim seremos pessoas maduras e alcançaremos a altura espiritual de Cristo.
14 in order that we may be no longer babes, tossed and carried about by every wind of *that* teaching {which is} in the sleight of men, in unprincipled cunning with a view to systematized error;
14 Então não seremos mais como crianças, arrastados pelas ondas e empurrados por qualquer vento de ensinamentos de pessoas falsas. Essas pessoas inventam mentiras e, por meio delas, levam outros para caminhos errados.
15 but, holding the truth in love, we may grow up to him in all things, who is the head, the Christ:
15 Pelo contrário, falando a verdade com espírito de amor, cresçamos em tudo até alcançarmos a altura espiritual de Cristo, que é a cabeça.
16 from whom the whole body, fitted together, and connected by every joint of supply, according to {the} working in {its} measure of each one part, works for itself the increase of the body to its self-building up in love.
16 É ele quem faz com que o corpo todo fique bem-ajustado e todas as partes fiquem ligadas entre si por meio da união de todas elas. E, assim, cada parte funciona bem, e o corpo todo cresce e se desenvolve por meio do amor.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in {the} Lord, that ye should no longer walk as {the rest of} the nations walk in {the} vanity of their mind,
17 Portanto, em nome do Senhor eu digo e insisto no seguinte: não vivam mais como os pagãos, pois os pensamentos deles não têm valor,
18 being darkened in understanding, estranged from the life of God by reason of the ignorance which is in them, by reason of the hardness of their hearts,
18 e a mente deles está na escuridão. Eles não têm parte na vida que Deus dá porque são completamente ignorantes e teimosos.
19 who having cast off all feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greedy unsatisfied lust.
19 Eles perderam toda a vergonha e se entregaram totalmente aos vícios; eles não têm nenhum controle e fazem todo tipo de coisas indecentes.
20 But *ye* have not thus learnt the Christ,
20 Mas não foi essa a maneira de viver que vocês aprenderam como seguidores de Cristo.
21 if ye have heard him and been instructed in him according as {the} truth is in Jesus;
21 Com certeza vocês ouviram falar dele e, como seus seguidores, aprenderam a verdade que está em Jesus.
22 {namely} your having put off according to the former conversation the old man which corrupts itself according to the deceitful lusts;
22 Portanto, abandonem a velha natureza de vocês, que fazia com que vocês vivessem uma vida de pecados e que estava sendo destruída pelos seus desejos enganosos.
23 and being renewed in the spirit of your mind;
23 É preciso que o coração e a mente de vocês sejam completamente renovados.
24 and {your} having put on the new man, which according to God is created in truthful righteousness and holiness.
24 Vistam-se com a nova natureza, criada por Deus, que é parecida com a sua própria natureza e que se mostra na vida verdadeira, a qual é correta e dedicada a ele.
25 Wherefore, having put off falsehood, speak truth every one with his neighbour, because we are members one of another.
25 Por isso não mintam mais. Que cada um diga a verdade para o seu irmão na fé, pois todos nós somos membros do corpo de Cristo!
26 Be angry, and do not sin; let not the sun set upon your wrath,
26 Se vocês ficarem com raiva, não deixem que isso faça com que pequem e não fiquem o dia inteiro com raiva.
27 neither give room for the devil.
27 Não deem ao Diabo oportunidade para tentar vocês.
28 Let the stealer steal no more, but rather let him toil, working what is honest with {his} hands, that he may have to distribute to him that has need.
28 Quem roubava que não roube mais, porém comece a trabalhar a fim de viver honestamente e poder ajudar os pobres.
29 Let no corrupt word go out of your mouth, but if {there be} any good one for needful edification, that it may give grace to those that hear {it}.
29 Não digam palavras que fazem mal aos outros, mas usem apenas palavras boas, que ajudam os outros a crescer na fé e a conseguir o que necessitam, para que as coisas que vocês dizem façam bem aos que ouvem.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which ye have been sealed for {the} day of redemption.
30 E não façam com que o Espírito Santo de Deus fique triste. Pois o Espírito é a marca de propriedade de Deus colocada em vocês, a qual é a garantia de que chegará o dia em que Deus os libertará.
31 Let all bitterness, and heat of passion, and wrath, and clamour, and injurious language, be removed from you, with all malice;
31 Abandonem toda amargura, todo ódio e toda raiva. Nada de gritarias, insultos e maldades!
32 and be to one another kind, compassionate, forgiving one another, so as God also in Christ has forgiven you.
32 Pelo contrário, sejam bons e atenciosos uns para com os outros. E perdoem uns aos outros, assim como Deus, por meio de Cristo, perdoou vocês.
