1 Man who is born of woman is of few days, and full of turmoil.
1 O homem, nascido da mulher, é de bem poucos dias e cheio de inquietação.
2 He comes forth like a flower and is cut off; he flees like a shadow and does not remain.
2 Sai como a flor e se seca; foge também como a sombra e não permanece.
3 And do You open Your eyes on such a one, and bring me into judgment with Yourself?
3 E sobre este tal abres os teus olhos, e a mim me fazes entrar em juízo contigo.
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!
4 (Quem do imundo tirará o puro? Ninguém!)
5 Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with You; You have appointed his limits, so that he cannot pass beyond it.
5 Visto que os seus dias estão determinados, contigo está o número dos seus meses; e tu lhe puseste limites, e não passará além deles.
6 Look away from him that he may rest, so like a hired man he may be satisfied with his day.
6 Desvia-te dele, para que tenha repouso, até que, como o jornaleiro, tenha contentamento no seu dia.
7 For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and its tender shoots will not cease.
7 Porque há esperança para a árvore, que, se for cortada, ainda se renovará, e não cessarão os seus renovos.
8 Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground,
8 Se envelhecer na terra a sua raiz, e morrer o seu tronco no pó,
9 yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant.
9 ao cheiro das águas, brotará e dará ramos como a planta.
10 But a strong man dies and is laid away; indeed man expires and where is he?
10 Mas, morto o homem, é consumido; sim, rendendo o homem o espírito, então, onde está?
11 As water evaporates from the sea, and a river wastes away and dries up,
11 Como as águas se retiram do mar, e o rio se esgota e fica seco,
12 so man lies down and does not rise. Until the heavens are no more, they shall not awake nor be aroused from their sleep.
12 assim o homem se deita e não se levanta; até que não haja mais céus, não acordará, nem se erguerá de seu sono.
13 O that You would hide me in Sheol, that You would conceal me until Your wrath is turned back, that You would appoint me a decree, and remember me!
13 Tomara que me escondesses na sepultura, e me ocultasses até que a tua ira se desviasse, e me pusesses um limite, e te lembrasses de mim!
14 If a man dies, shall he revive? All the days of my service I will wait, until my change comes.
14 Morrendo o homem, porventura, tornará a viver? Todos os dias de meu combate esperaria, até que viesse a minha mudança.
15 You shall call, and I will answer You; You shall long for the work of Your hands.
15 Chamar-me-ias, e eu te responderia; afeiçoa-te à obra de tuas mãos.
16 For now You number my steps. Do you not watch over my sin?
16 Mas agora contas os meus passos; não estás tu vigilante sobre o meu pecado?
17 My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and You cover my iniquity.
17 A minha transgressão está selada num saco, e amontoas as minhas iniquidades.
18 But as a mountain falls and crumbles away, and as a rock is moved out of its place;
18 E, na verdade, caindo a montanha, desfaz-se; e a rocha se remove do seu lugar.
19 as waters wear away stones, and as floods wash away the dust of the earth; so You destroy the hope of man.
19 As águas gastam as pedras; as cheias afogam o pó da terra; e tu fazes perecer a esperança do homem.
20 You overpower him forever, and he passes on; You change his countenance and send him away.
20 Tu para sempre prevaleces contra ele, e ele passa; tu, mudando o seu rosto, o despedes.
21 His sons come to honor, and he does not recognize them; they are diminished, and he does not perceive it.
21 Os seus filhos estão em honra, sem que ele o saiba; ou ficam minguados, sem que ele o perceba;
22 But his flesh will be in pain, and his soul will mourn.
22 mas a sua carne, nele, tem dores; e a sua alma, nele, lamenta.
