1 Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the kings house, across from the kings house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, in front of the gate of the house.
1 No terceiro dia de jejum, Ester se vestiu com as suas roupas de rainha, foi e ficou esperando no pátio de dentro do palácio, em frente do salão nobre do rei. Ele estava lá dentro, sentado no trono, que ficava em frente da porta do pátio.
2 So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his eyes, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.
2 E, quando ele viu a rainha Ester esperando lá fora no pátio, teve boa vontade para com ela e estendeu-lhe o seu cetro de ouro. Ester entrou, chegou perto dele e tocou na ponta do cetro.
3 And the king said to her, What do you wish, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given to you, even to half the kingdom.
3 E o rei perguntou: — O que está acontecendo, rainha Ester? O que você deseja? Peça o que quiser, que eu lhe darei, mesmo que seja a metade do meu reino.
4 And Esther answered, If it pleases the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him.
4 Ester respondeu: — Se for do seu agrado, eu gostaria de convidar o senhor e Hamã para o banquete que estou preparando hoje para o senhor.
5 Then the king said, Summon Haman quickly, that he may do according to Esthers word. So the king and Haman went to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
5 Aí o rei ordenou: — Digam a Hamã que venha depressa, para que nós aceitemos o convite de Ester. Assim o rei e Hamã foram ao banquete que Ester havia preparado.
6 At the banquet of wine the king said to Esther, What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request? And it shall be done, even to half the kingdom.
6 Quando estavam bebendo vinho, o rei perguntou a Ester: — Qual é o seu pedido? Peça o que quiser, que eu lhe darei, mesmo que seja a metade do meu reino.
7 Then Esther answered and said, My petition and request is this:
7 Ester respondeu: — É o seguinte:
8 If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, then let the king and Haman come to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do according to the word of the king.
8 se eu puder me valer da bondade do rei, e se for do seu agrado atender o meu pedido, gostaria de convidar o senhor e Hamã para outro banquete que eu vou preparar amanhã para os dois. Aí lhe direi o que eu quero.
9 So Haman went out that day joyful and with a glad heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the kings gate, and that he did not stand or tremble before him, he was filled with indignation against Mordecai.
9 Hamã saiu do banquete alegre e feliz da vida. Porém, quando chegou perto da entrada do palácio, ele encontrou Mordecai ali e ficou furioso porque Mordecai não se curvou diante dele, nem fez qualquer outro sinal de respeito.
10 Nevertheless Haman restrained himself and went to his house, and he sent and summoned his friends and his wife Zeresh.
10 Mas ele se controlou e voltou para casa. Então mandou chamar os amigos e pediu que Zeres, a sua mulher, também viesse.
11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, the multitude of his children, everything in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the rulers and servants of the king.
11 Hamã começou a falar da sua riqueza, do número de filhos que tinha, das promoções que havia recebido do rei e de como agora ocupava a mais alta posição do reino, acima de todos os outros ministros e funcionários.
12 Moreover Haman said, In addition to that, Queen Esther invited no one to come in with the king to the banquet that she prepared, except me; and tomorrow I am again invited by her, along with the king.
12 E continuou: — Além de tudo isso, eu fui a única pessoa que a rainha Ester convidou para acompanhar o rei ao banquete que ela preparou para ele. E ela também me pediu que eu fosse com ele a outro banquete amanhã!
13 Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the kings gate.
13 Mas tudo isso não me vale nada enquanto eu continuar vendo Mordecai, aquele judeu, sentado na entrada do palácio.
14 Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, Let a gallows be made, fifty cubits high, and in the morning suggest to the king that Mordecai be hanged on it; then go joyfully with the king to the banquet. And these words were good to Haman; so he had the gallows made.
14 Aí a mulher dele e todos os amigos deram a seguinte sugestão: — Mande fazer uma forca de uns vinte metros de altura e amanhã de manhã peça ao rei que mande enforcar Mordecai. Então você poderá ir feliz com o rei ao banquete. Hamã gostou da ideia e mandou construir a forca.
